Café Solé has captured the hearts and palates of locals and visitors lucky enough to discover this culinary gem off the beaten path. By combining his French mastery of sauces with fresh locally caught seafood, John has created a menu unlike any on the island, where every dish is bursting with indescribable flavors. Mutton snapper in pesto and champagne, yellowtail in a beurre blanc of lobster or a rare hog snapper with red pepper zabaglione top a list of nightly specials. As for the classics, the Duck a L'Orange, Rack of Lamb with herb de Province and Lobster Bouillaise are as authentic as you will find this side of Paris. Chef Correa combines the best of both of his worlds, European and Caribbean to win the People's Choice and Best Entree awards at a recent Master Chefs Classic

Love Cafe Sole and go every time we visit key west. Everything I have ordered is amazing from the Sea Food Pasta through to the lamb chops. Hog Snapper is potentially the best thing I have ever eaten.
Would recommend to anyone who is ready for a great meal. While its a bit high dollar I personally believe it is worth every penny.

Overpriced, the rissoto is not made with arborio, seafood grossly overcooked. Spend your money elsewhere.

We got here on a Monday at 6. They have a 3 course special from 5-6:30. We had the hog fish and the tuna tataki and it was excellent. No better hog fish on the island, I have looked. The tuna was perfect. It was $33 per meal which is a bargain! Worth the walk but we took an Uber down and back, too dang hot for us Montana folk.

Excellent as always. The mushroom soup is perfect as is the hogfish and lamb. Key Lime pie - the best on the island. Service - perfect.

Jean-Pierre provides the perfect recommendations: French onion soup (do not leave without someone in your party ordering this) and hogsnapper sole. Will make this a regular place for us!

Great find. Wonderful food. My only complaint was that we made an 8 PM reservation, but were not seated until 8:30. Better scheduling would have enhanced the experience. They did apologize for the delay, and gave us a first glass of wine to compensate.

I will go back.

The food was amazing, but we were a bit put off by the staff because they rushed us through our meal. We had a late reservation - 9 pm - but by 10 they were rushing us out and actually turned off the lights in the main dining room. We wanted to take our time and have a long dinner, and given this is a French restaurant, you’d think that would be pretty standard. The food was great, but the way the staff treated us really turned us off.

It is simply the BEST restaurant in Key West. The hog fish is a gastronomical delight. Try angels on horseback for an appetizer. Have been coming here for over 15 years and still haven’t found a better restaurant. Make sure you make reservations. It can get crowded and tables are close together. But so what - we have always had great conversations with our dinner mates.

Outdoor porch is very delightful. Our server was remarkable...without our even asking he gave us sips of wine he thought would pair well with our meals. The ahi tuna I had here will rank as a Life Experience...never to be forgotten! I'll have it again on the next trip! My husband's food experience was less stellar with a pasta dish including three types of seafood including calamari. He was not wild about it at all. Both of us enjoyed the salad, dessert and wine. Some of the dishes here are quite pricey, but it's great for a vacation special meal.

We always enjoy dining at Cafe Sole. The food is outstanding, understated excellence and just damn good.
Can't think of a better restaurant despite years of travelling. The wine can be a little pricey but there are good choices at every level.

I read about Cafe Sole on Key West Finest FB page and made a reservation right away since we were going to be here. We timed it for the early bird special (although they don’t call it that) and we were not disappointed! The Caesar salad had anchovies with a great flavor and the Conch Carpaccio was delicious and very light! We both had the Cafe Sole Hogfish - fantastic! The side items were a wonderful blend of colors and flavors and portion size was perfect. Of course I had the amazing key lime pie while my husband had the mango sorbet. Wow just wow! We thoroughly enjoyed our experience - one of the best meals we’ve had in a long time.

Vacation

I don’t recall seeing anything beforehand that they had no liquor license. So it was wine and beer only. But that wasn’t a real issue. Wait staff was not really aware of the menu specials and couldn’t explain them. Neither were they very attentive. Given the prices and the so so quality of what we ordered I would rate the value below average. There’s better options in Key West.

Hadn't been to Cafe Sole for a couple of years, so thought we'd give the $33 3-course dinner special a try. We each chose the portobella mushroom soup, then one duck a l'orange entree and one rack of lamb (ordered medium rare) entree, and for dessert, the balsamic glazed strawberries with whipped cream and the mango sorbet.

The portobella mushroom soup was tasty but lacked seasoning, and personally, I think a little dash of sherry or brandy - offered as an option - would have upped the flavor considerably. The duck skin (a leg & thigh portion) was properly crispy, but the meat itself was not tender. The orange sauce on the side was fine. The sides (some rice, baby Lima beans, and a swoosh of mashed potatoes) were welcome, but were not hot temperature-wise, and rather bland. The rack of lamb (four rib slices) were quite a bit beyond medium rare (I was not in the mood to send it back, but probably should have), and the meat was tough and under seasoned. Accompaniments were sides similar to those served with the duck portion, with the addition of a tiny baked tomato. Again, sides were not hot, and were bland with the exception of the tomato which provided a nice little acidic kick.

The desserts were enjoyable, with the mango sorbet served in a chilled metal martini glass taking the prize for presentation and FLAVOR!!! The surroundings were amiable and service was very pleasant and attentive. Couldn't help but feel sorry for the waiters/waitresses struggling with the door between the outdoor and indoor eating areas while juggling food plates and drinks. Didn't seem to bother them, but rather annoying for us diners to watch. Surely SOMETHING can be done with that door to please everyone???

First poor meal I’ve ever had at cafe sole... we are local and go frequently. Our friends soup was cold, my salad was very nice. There were three blackened tuna dinners ..... tuna extremely overpowered , vegetables just ok. One of us had the lamb, also just ok. This was the pris fixe dinner. There is just too much better food for less money in key west for a meal to disappoint.

This is one of my favorite Key West restaurants, but unfortunately this visit wasn't as memorable as previous ones. We had dinner reservations at 8:15, but were not seated until 8:40. Also, a large party of rowdy patrons created a loud buzz in the normally quiet outside dining area. On the bright side, the food was fabulous as usual.
