food is very good. very European atmosphere. casual fun place.
it was okey i did not like the table they sat me at it was very secluded and far from ambiance.
food good but normal good
I had a reservation for 8:30 we didn't get seated until 9:15. Service was terrible. Would not recommend.
Manager Benoit is an absolute gentleman. And very handsome.
We waited 1h30 for our table
This is a very popular vibrant place, particularly, on a weekend evening. Crowd is mostly in 20s & 30s, attractive, with lots of Europeans. Very solid line-up of fondues with generous portions. As my companion, who'd spent a year in Switzerland, said, "The funny thing is you'd never find a restaurant serving fondue in Switzerland with this kind of upbeat atmosphere."
Fun place, ok food, absolutely terrible service.
One of my favorite spots in New York! I especially like to go in the winter for their cheese fondue (the Italian one is spectacular). Great vibe, friendly servers, fun decor, generous portions - food is on the pricier side, but it's worth it.
The only reason we went there was the cheese fondue. The restaurant was extremely noisy, and the waitress inattentive and slow. I made a reservation for the chalet, but they said it was full.
Great food and ambiance. We will return. Excellent breakfast.
Good food. Excellent service. Way too noisy. Did I say it was noisy? Very noisy!!
It was closed
The small round table for party of four is a bit uncomfortable. The space was super tide to fit glasses for wine and water. We spilled water and wine three times over the dinner.
We were verbally harassed by the 2 drunk guys from the next table repeatedly for about half an hour...the hostess and the other customers saw it and heard it,I asked the manager for help to do something about and he completely ignored our request.I almost called the police but just decided to leave without giving any tip which I have never done before...very sad.
Service was quite poor. We waited over an hour for our food which I felt like was overpriced after we tried it.
Eggs benedict were done to perfection, would highly recommend for breakfast
I went their with my children and really liked it. The food was good and the atmosphere was charming. I would definitely go back again.
This is definitely a great neighborhood spot I love to treat myself to from time to time. It's a great spot for just about any occasion. The wine is great, the food is amazing, and the service is outstanding (shoutout to my fave JC!). This place will always be at the top of my go-to list.
The noise made it impossible to carry on a conversation. Too bad because it made us not want to return
Not worth it. Wait was excessive and the food was beyond sub par. We had to ask the waiter to take our order multiple times, then request our checks. What should have been a 40 minute dinner ended up being a 2 hour wait for sub par food. Truly don't understand how this place needed reservations.
Too noisy and the Rösti is not done in advance and that makes a big difference on the taste.
Am originaly Swiss. Feels like being home from a culinary perspective (though menu has tons of non-Swiss dishes). Classic veal in a cream sauce is a total winner (a Zurich recipe). Ambiance is much more relaxed and lively than at a restaurant back in my home country.
Ok not bad at all
Lovely European atmosphere and very attentive and kind staff.
Disengaged service, fruit and berry with muesli were flavorless, strawberry had a fridge flavor...
Been coming for many years, seems to be getting a little lose. Schad.
My group enjoyed great food and attentive service!
Great Easter brunch! just what we were looking for...casual and delicious food. Service was top notch. Will go again.
quite a disappointment... this is a busy place, always with good group of people, but ultimately the menu looks better than the food served. We were certainly hoping for better tasting food.
Food is good but service was unattended. Need improvement on that issue!!
Riquísimo el brunch! Muy buen lugzar, súper recomendado!
Service was good, ambience is young, hipster, and chatty. Food is good but place gets loud
as the night goes on.
Great food, but the service was not good. Granted it was a busy Saturday night but I think they could have been a bit more efficient
I've now been for both dinner and brunch and really enjoyed this place. The atmosphere is great and interesting and the food is good.
relaxed , happy and has good music. Line 6 is the closest metro line.
Didn't even honor reservation!
It's great. Good food. Nice vibe.
If you ask people why they go to your restaurant, 9 out of 10 times the reason would be "because Jacks Wife Freda was full/had a long wait". To my surprise, I probably could've waited for an hour at jacks wife Freda and gotten my food faster.
First of all, when my party of three walked in with a reservation at 12PM, the restaurant was maybe 30% full. We sat down, were given menus, and then spent the next 20 minutes trying to flag down a waitress, who seemed to have really important things to say to the other waitress at one of the registers. Once we finally got a waitress, we proceeded to order. I ordered the burger, which comes with a side of chips or greens - I had to remind her that I didn't pick one to which she said "Oh right. You get one of those". Fine, we submitted our order and continued to wait. As we were waiting, we heard the table next to us (a table of two) flag the waitress down: "you gave us cocktail menus. can we get food menus?" Hearing that exchange didn't inspire much confidence.
As we continued to wait, the table next to us finally was able to order once they were given food menus. To our surprise, despite placing their order after we did, they got their food about 15-20 minutes earlier. Keep in mind this was now 45 minutes since we walked in the door and we had a completely empty table.
The sad part is, we thought Cafe Select was a great option for a business lunch in the area. It has a good decor, seemingly good menus, and a great location. To our utter disappointment, the service was just atrocious. It wouldn't have even been that bad if we hadn't noticed all these tables coming in after us, ordering after us, and getting their food before us. The only common thread I saw with those special, vaunted customers is that they were all caucasian and it seemed we were the only non-caucasian customers in the restaurant. Hopefully just a coincidence.
Lovely space and interesting menu but overall poorly executed and over priced. My pancakes were pretty good but the portion was not even child sized and my side of eggs were so over cooked, they came with charred pieces. I don't know how the server gave them to me with a straight face. I wouldn't recommend Cafe Select for brunch.
One of our local favourites. We love George he always takes care of us in a special way.
The food is consistently good, we crave the Zurich Veal and it does not disappoint. The Amish Chicken is also a family favourite.
