Authentic Swiss retro feel with updated versions of classic Swiss fair and some! Cool groove and crowd.
Food was great. And we love the room. Wait service was friendly and attentive. Only problem was that menu was out-dated. We tried to order two or three things that were no longer available (as in no longer served). But the food we did get was scrumptious.
And we will be back, with bells on.
This is one of my favorite places to get brunch in the city because they take reservations. I have never had to wait on line. Their pancakes are delicious. The only thing negative I have to say is that their tables are a little small/ not a ton of room to move around. But besides that they're great. And you can charge your phone there at their charging station, which is something every restaurant should have!
Good vibes and delicious rosti at this super solid spot in Soho for chill but fun foods. Good decor.
Love this place. Terrible slow service always!
Friendly staff wonderful food great neighborhood. For brunch highly recommend the salmon + rosti and for dinner the risotto and the paillard. Delicious!!!
Energy overload. Staff efficient and busy. Once you got their attention every request was accommodated in a timely friendly and accurate manner. Menu was very good. Would have liked to order some Swiss wines
Completely in love with the Rosti Norwegian, though the haloumi dish is a close second. Just hard to say "no" to those lovely potatoes
Terrible service, had to chase people down, way understaffed
Dinner was great, except for the wait for the table. We called ahead to push the reservation back to 8.45 and we weren't seated until almost 9.30pm. When we were seated, we were seated at the door right by the door which was very cold and a busy place to sit.
Love this place for brunch! Always go there! Norwegian eggs are the best!
Café Sélect has good food simple and healthy - and nice portion.
Everything was good. Love the service included policy. Only issue and reason for 1 star less, two waiters for the entire restaurant makes the service very slow. Not the waiters' fault because they were always busy, but we waited a lot for food, drinks, and check.
The food was excellent, but the noise level made having a conversation almost impossible.
Very slow service and when told we needed to make another event the food still came out slowly
Service was excellent, food not so much but that might be because the cook arrived a 7 and we eat at 6.30... The restaurant has now a B rating, I red the report, didn't seem too bad but still a B
I enjoyed the Swiss and Nordic selections on the menu. Also ambiance was nice and not crowded for a pleasant Sunday mid-morning brunch.
Whenever we are in New York, we always make an effort to dine at Cafe Select. The menu is very nostalgic, but well prepared and the wine list is just about the right size. Most of all we enjoy the warm reception and friendly efficient service.
Delicious and delightful! The food is wonderful and the atmosphere is great. Lovely little Nolita spot, and LOVE the no gratuity.
I have had a great experience at this restaurant on several occasions, which is why I brought my out-of-town friends here for brunch to show off NYC. My brunch experience today was exceedingly different from my previous times there, and, unfortunately VERY negative. First, the service was incredibly slow both in taking our order and delivering it. We didn't get food on the table until 45 minutes after our arrival. Then, after I had ordered Eggs Benedict with the eggs poached 'well' (and specified no runny egg), I received completely runny eggs. After notifying the waitress of this, she brought me one new poached egg...just that...in its own tiny little bowl...no sauce, no new toast (as the other had been soaked with the runny eggs), nothing! I then brought my frustration to the waitress' attention, to which she replied, "yeah the kitchen is pretty busy," with no apology or remedy to offer. I fully expected my $22 completely messed up eggs Benedict would be comped...but it wasn't! I would have asked for it to be comped, but I wasn't keen on looking obnoxious in front of my friends. This was an awkward and frustrating experience the waitress put me in. To clarify: I was not angry my eggs were runny, I was angry the waitress didn't give me a new, correct order, apologize for the mistake, and comp it. The waitress is responsible for the experience, and this was a TERRIBLE one.
Food portions were small. Was loud because they had the soccer game on with surround sound, didn't fit the feeling of the restaurant.
I think the xmas lights hung on the ceiling would look great at night, but during the day the white wire looked tacky.
Loved the menu of this place, perfect for lunch or brunch or dinner. Great healthy food and you can see what is in your food!
Food is great & authentic, service/ kitchen are very slow and just ok...
Comfortable seating with eclectic posters. Enjoyed the special potato-leek soup and the salad was tasty. Waiter was attentive and efficient. On "the list"
Perfect cool 70s Fribourg vibe - much appreciated by a guy who spent time at Caserne La Poya in 1980!
We love this place - the Amish Chicken is spectacular, oysters are good, fondue is fun and the Spaetzle Swiss Veal is a family favourite.
was looking for a spot that would be a blend of a bar and cafe to meet someone. This was a great option. Although I wish they promoted/advertised their cafe elections by including a coffee/tea menu along with a bar menu.
Love the low-key vibe and friendly waitstaff. Breakfast is breakfast and the food and coffee are pretty good but mostly it's just so comfortable and diner-ish in a very good way.
I had only been to Café Select for drinks on a number of occasions, but I was pleasantly surprised when I had brunch there last weekend. Interesting menu choices, lovely fresh ingredients and good coffee. I had the quinoa salad with smoked salmon, and my boyfriend had the bratwurst with rosti - both delicious. Can't wait to come again :)
A little too rushed to be cozy. But the fondue is nice.
As a Swiss native I appreciate the cafe's quality and authentic dishes. While residing in Bklyn for almost a decade, I must fix my cravings for a cheese fondue during the winter as it represents a true social dining experience with friends just like home. The dish was delicious. However, I want to share a constructive feedback. After having eaten the fondue for the second time in December, I have to say that the cheese was not properly blended and melted. The cheese tended to be quite clumpy and overly chewy in the bite. Yes, I got my fix but I remember that it was made perfectly last year... Our server JC rocked and made our new year's gathering even more pleasant.
Thanks for an unforgettable evening!
Friendly place. Good coffee, fresh croissants. The actually used water hot enough to brew a good cup of tea.
Food is always delicious, loved the pancakes, atmosphere is so cute! The service isn't awful but for its size it's a little baffling how it can take so long for a server to make proper rounds. A solid 4.4/5
Charming little place for breakfast. Good strong coffee. The fried halloumi hit the spot and the vibe was spot on.
Overpriced. We were seated 25 minutes after our reservation time. They only had 2 people waiting and bussing the entire restaurant and 2 people at the host stand. Seems like a bad ratio.....
Food was good.
I wouldn't go back.
Cafe Select never disappoints, the service & food are always great.
Excellent for lunch, dinner (if it isn't too hot...a.c. is scarce) but brunch is TOO LOUD for a bigger group, hectic and staffed is not equipped. Great for 2-4 people, no more any time but brunch
Food was worth every minute of dealing with the stupid, aloof, model waiter. Ambiance is incredible.
the food is AMAZING!!!! the cocktails are AMAZING! this place is AMAZING!
