We love this restaurant. And everything about it. The food, Ambience and service are all second to none.
Food was good but service was excellent. One of the guest's quiche was on the small side and when the server came over right after food was delivered she noticed this and went to kitchen and brought back a nice size serving that was very tasty.
Good food and ambiance. Waitperson was unpleasant.
We have visited Cafe Sebastienne for a number of years. The occasions have been
business lunches, special occasions, and friend get-togethers. The atmosphere is
so appealing and the menu is unique. Service is great!
If you are a reuben sandwich lover, you can't beat the reuben at Cafe Sebastienne!
The only negative is the noise level in the atrium area. We love the sunny atmosphere,
but have a bit of problem hearing conversations when seated there.
Once we moved inside out of the noisy but half empty enclosed patio, we enjoyed our lunch. My salmon was cooked perfectly. My husband had the tri-combo: soup, salad, half sandwich. Very filling and delicious. Good service too.
Hard surfaces results in increased noise level. Small price to pay to dine with friends surrounded by beautiful art. The cuisine was very creative and delicious.
Everything was perfect. Charles is the best dining caretaker I can ever remember. The cocktail I had was very generous and my wife and I both enjoyed the meal and wine. We commented later that we can’t wait to come back.
After reading other reviews, Charles is great asset. He should get a writer and write his restaurant memoirs!
I had the trout - always good- but the KOHLRABI mash with some kind of sauce was fantastic. I hope it's still on the menu next time I have lunch here. Wine is nice; just wish it could be a little less expensive. And CHARLES is the best server ever, anywhere.
Café Sebastienne is one of my favorite places. The intimate setting, creative cuisine and excellent service make it a go to place.
Most reliable and dependable spot in KCMO for brunch. Possibly the only restaurant I've ever been to where I've never had a bad meal. I come here 4-5 times a year. Don't bypass the Bloody Mary.
The food was absolutely amazing! The cocktails were just as perfect! Our service was great! We went there for brunch on Saturday and we are still discussing the food on Monday.
Food was OK, but the service was extremely slow. Even once the staff finally came to the table, it took a long time to get our food and check. The strangest part was that there hardly were any other customers in the restaurant.
Valentine’s day dinner
The Porchetta was way too fatty, with very little pork. A big disappointment since until now I have never had a bad meal at this classy restaurant. The chef is new, and needs to hear this criticism. Limited gluten-free options during this Valentine’s Day dinner.
Cafe Sebastienne NEVER fails to deliver! The food from the new chef is a great compliment to the Cafe as well as to all patrons. The ambiance cannot be beat; the entire experience is a tantalizing foray into the art of food!
This is truly one of the best restaurants in KCMO. Service always excellent. Atmosphere amazing. Menu ever-changing, fresh, diverse, interesting and satisfying. Lunch, dinner, brunch or date night, this is a safe bet always.
Café Sebastienne is back!!!
We were regulars of the restaurant before the tragic loss of Executive Chef Jennifer Maloney. This is the first time we have been back since, and are we ever glad we went.
New Executive Chef Remy Ayesh certainly had some big shoes to fill. She impressed us and we are convinced that she is a worthy and gifted choice, and she is a perfect fit for this uniquely charming restaurant. Her talents were evident in every dish we ordered. The featured soup,, tomato and artichoke with a cream base and cheese topping, was bursting with flavor. The salads were unique and delicious, each highlighted by mouth watering dressings and particularly flavorful cheeses ( no surprise since Chef Remy honed her skills at Chicago’s landmark Spiaggia) The swordfish was perfectly cooked and flavorful, and each of the sides, including the butternut squash polenta , were r tasty and well prepared. And the Olive Cake was the perfect ending to an exquisite dining experience.
We left feeling that Jennifer Maloney would be proud of her replacement, and would encourage her loyal regulars to support this talented and charming young chef.
The food was fine. The bloody mary has changed since last visit. It needs to change back. Our visitor from Munich was impressed and enjoyed the experience.
I was insulted by this establishment. They called me after I ate lunch there today and accused me of not paying. I told them I paid $40 cash for a $30 lunch for 2 people, rec’d a $5 and 5 one’s for change and left a $6 tip. They put me on hold, came back in several minutes and said “oh, the waitress found the money”. No apologies, nothing. I will not return. They have lost a long time customer of many, many years. I’m still fuming at being accused of stealing and no apology.
What a great lunch. Food was superb. And, Charles, what a special friend.
Everything was wonderful except one thing was not clear...there were only 6 of us, 3 couples. The bills had 20% added as tip. That would have been fine if we were told that, but we were not, either by the server or on the menu. We are all 20% or more tippers. I feel that it should have been said to us at delivery of tab, at reservation or written on the menu.
Another OUTSTANDING dining experience at this very special place. We do not get there as often as we like but every time we do go, we remind ourselves to go more often. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and top rate. The food is creative, delicious and healthy. Super experience!! Thank you!
The open airiness of it is wonderful. I had the best mussels I have ever tasted. Fresh not chewy. The vegetable frittata was excellent also I am told. The big biscuit I am told was a little spicy but they still enjoyed it. Excellent coffee!
Love love love this place! Great food amazing ambiance and super fun staff
Great food but needed more servers since it was Restaurant Week. That is the time to shine and the service was SLOW. If you don't mind slow service, the food was excellent.
I hadn't been to the Cafe in years and I truly enjoyed great food and a wonderful atmosphere!
Thanks to Dale and all! Still my favorite lunch in KC! Good job to all kitchen and waitstaff for keeping the spirit of Cafe Sebastienne alive! perfect birthday dinner for my son who works in the neighborhood. cheers!
What a wonderful meal my friend and I had! I chose the pick 3 combo, which allowed me to sample a few different things. (I wanted to try them all)! The food was very fresh, appealing in presentation, and delicious! Jorge, our server, was great. Finally, I enjoyed trying the unique Olive Oil Cake, and I was NOT disappointed! I will be back!
As always, Cafe Sebastienne delivered. The new chef is doing a wonderful job. My server was lovely. The entire dining experience is simply perfect.
Just perfect. Creamy tomato soup was served with drizzled basil oil. Our server was attentive and helpful. Great food with great presentation. We enjoyed all dishes.
Beautiful environment and excellently prepared food.
We have treasured our past visits to Cafe Sebastienne and were eager to try it again after a lengthy hiatus. Unfortunately, our high hopes were not met by the new chef or the unsmiling servers during our Restaurant Week experience. It was painfully obvious that Chef Jennifer Maloney’s honest-yet-discerning palate no longer influences what comes out of the kitchen. Cafe Sebastienne, where is the heart—the love of good, real food?
Was surprised at the food and price! Delicious clams and salads!
Lovely hidden gem. Food was delicious; nice wine selection; interesting cocktail choices. Very attentive (but not cloying) servers. Ambiance is simply fabulous.
Chewy and fatty tenderloin that was over cooked in the Beef Wellington dish. Simply awful is all I can say about the food I had.
Always the best!! A favorite for lunch. Great atmosphere, personable weight staff, food is always great.
The food was great. It has a very unique environment. I definitely want to go back.
As always ambiance, especially inside, was great. Food this time was OK. Shrimps were over cooked. Service very good, although it took some time to take our order but place very busy. Waiter was great. My guest liked the decor and his chicken dish.
Perfect place to treat out of town friends to delicious food in a beautiful space.
Once again, we were so pleased with our meal at Cafe Sebastienne. Our daughter was visiting from San Francisco and we wanted a relaxing place where we could visit for brunch on Christmas Eve. And, with a tasty menu. Did I mention she doesn't eat wheat or dairy? So it was PERFECT! She ordered the trout with lentils and butternut squash puree -- it was really delicious (I did sneak a taste) and everything else we had was just as good. Want to come back and not waiting for her to visit again!
