Warm environment with plenty of natural light. Good menu and food was excellent. The spinach, mushroom, cream cheese omelet with salmon roe was fluffy, ample, delicious and satisfying.
We enjoyed brunch in the enclosed patio. Lots of natural light in that section. Noise echoes more in that area and we noticed it when a large party came to dine. But we still enjoyed our visit. Excellent food and presentation! Great service. You are paying for quality and that’s what we got. I was very pleased with my experience and will dine there again.
Café Sebastienne has been one of our favorite places for great food and conversation. The menus vary with the seasons; the wine offerings are well paired and generally very reasonably priced. Servers are pleasant and knowledgeable.
Great food (creative), fun ambiance, great service, and an opportunity to enjoy modern art while dining and before or after your meal.
Our first visit following the hire of a new chef. Ambiance is always excellent. Food quality was high, maintaining the the Sebastienne standard.
Great tasting food, although you feel very crowded inside the small area with all the paintings on the walls
Truly outstanding menu!
Our waiter was great and recommended the flatbread which was the best we've ever had!!
Birthday brunch was made special by the prompt service, super creative chef, and gracious general manager. Always an awesome experience.
Such an interesting menu. Wonderful Experience overall!
I wish you’d serve your Reuben sandwiches for dinner.
I wanted to like it more for lunch but the trout and the airline chicken were both uninspired. I’ve seen pictures of really interesting dinner choices but lunch seems like an afterthought. I’ll give it another try.
We had lunch during a visit to the museum. Very nice setting and delicious food
Excellent for brunch. We had relatives in town for a fencing tournament and the 17 year old said it was "her best breakfast ever" She ordered biscuits and gravy but hold the gravy...she was happy. Her dad also enjoyed the Benny!
The combination of stunning art and equally wonderful food made going to this restaurant a peak experience that I will long remember. the staff felt like friends and the service was great.
Excellent food and service! Always a good people watching place.
Have been going there for years and NEVER disappointed. Always great food and service surrounded by incredible art work at the Kemper Museum!!
It was my birthday and I invited 7 friends to have dinner with me. It was the perfect place ... we spent an hour visiting and going through the Museum’s main exhibition and then had a wonderful dinner with great service. Special shout-out to Tony who sent champagne to our table and is always charming and fun to encounter.
We had not been to Cafe Sebastienne since the new chef began. He is a true talent! Our meals were exceptionally good! Chef came to our table to explain dishes and to be hospitable. We LOVED our experience and our dinner! Can’t wait to return.
Wonderful Brunch! 3 of us all chose a different menu item. We couldn’t decide which had the best plate. We also had the yummy scones! Overall it was delicious, good service and beautiful setting.
I used to love this restaurant, but on our visit this week, it seems to have gone downhill a little. The main issue was that two of our meals came out incorrectly. They fixed one, but the other order, which was missing the chicken, was still served, with the chicken arriving about 5-10 minutes later on a side plate. We were entertaining out-of-town guests, and this just didn't impress. On the other hand, the autumn soup of the day was delish, as was my sandwich. It is very noisy in the restaurant, and even more so due to a group in the atrium.
It’s a “two-for” kind of place - the great ever-changing art and the interesting delicious cuisine. I love that I can get a fantastic Rueben in the same place I can get scallops or a unique seafood offering. The soup of the day never misses. Beautiful venue for gatherings - weddings, family reunions, Mothers Day, bridal or baby showers, it’s a Kansas City hidden gem.
The new chef is truly remarkable-great seasonal tastes and combinations that work beautifully. Can’t wait to come back!
Was out of town and had lunch in the outer area. Only thing it was noisy. Having lunch surrounded by art work was terrific. Our server was excellent and recommended several dishes, which were right on. Food fabulous, presentation excellent.
I really enjoy the Cafe and go there often! However, it’s getting pretty pricey. My salmon lunch entree was $19 and my friend’s Reuben didn’t come with potato salad or chips.
Wonderful food surrounded by great art (Kemper Museum), conveniently located in Midtown. I’m surprised so many people don’t know about this treasure!
Always great food and attentive service. And of course viewing great art before or after eating.
I've been going to Cafe Sebasastienne for years and I must say I did not absolutely love it this time. The presentation, although beautiful, was just a little bit over the top, fussy. The smoked tomato soup was more like tomato puree and had not be described as the chilled soup that it was. I think the former chef created a menu of just the right balance of artfulness and a down to earth quality of the food offerings. While my main dish was very good, I missed seeing some of the old menu items.
The best Ruben Sandwich in town. I also repeatedly order the trout, which is excellent! I just tried the flourless chocolate cake for the first time and it was incredible.
Wonderful Sunday brunch spot with swoon worthy art and great service! Delicious food as well.
Where is the wonderful, crusty French bread? Where is the Rueben sandwich?
My plate was warm, not hot; I wouldn't return it, because it was acceptable, but not the quality I am accustomed to at Café Sebastienne.
We had brunch at Café Sebastienne. I had the shrimp and grits and my friend had the beef hash. Both were delicious! We both ordered a wine cocktail, which was also delicious. I would definitely go back for another meal! The only downside was the service. We didn’t see our server much, and he was a little slow to take our orders and bring our check.
We tried the cuisine of Cafe Sebastienne's new chef and we thought the meal was fine. I had the sea bass and my husband had the chicken and both were well prepared. The only disappointment was the wine, a Pinot Bianca from Italy. I thought it was a little sour. It did improve as it warmed from being over chilled.
Great brunch. Fabulous food, wonderful service. You won't be diappointed.
Nice ambiance. The food was great and the art even better.
The food was good but more expensive than it seemed like it should have been. The wait staff was not great. I think this was just a slow time for the restaurant .
New Chef, new menu....amazing flavors! Don’t miss the flatbread appetizer - it is sublime!!!
As always, the wait staff are excellent and the food was superb! We are planning to make this a regular once a week.
Out of this world food!! My favorite is the French toast served on their weekend brunch menu. It seriously changed my life for the better. The menu changes with the seasons which makes me wanting to always come back for more. Their seasonal salad is also my go to. It is in a GORGEOUS FREE museum that this is a non-profit (meaning no tax, plus any revenue benefits the museum directly keeping museum free admission etc.). You can eat delicious food and feel good about it! Additionally, you will be dazzled by the Art specially commissioned for the space, it truly is fascinating! Last but not least, take a stroll through the galleries after your meal and pop into the gift shop, too!!
