Dinner with out of town guests during restaurant week. Our server was excellent and the portions were spot on - we left feeling satisfied, but not stuffed! Such a fun place for dinner.
I did not consider Cafe Sebastienne to be a child friendly place. After a sitter cancelled my 2 yr. old great nephew joined us for lunch. The staff could not have been more wonderful. They were very accommodating with food, drink etc. The noise volume was actually good so he didn't seem loud. I have always loved this restaurant and now I will have more opportunity to eat there.
Food was fabulous but service was very slow , probably because first night of Restaurant Week , we will definitely go back
The flourless chocolate cake was delicious, and we loved how the entire staff teamed up to serve, from topping off water to getting us dessert silverware. Very attentive.
While the food was excellent, my plate had a huge portion of fish and very little side vegetables. I could have done with half of the fish and a lot more of the squash, etc. In addition, someone (not my waiter) tried to serve us dessert before we had had our entree. There’s room for improvement here.
This was a RW dinner and we all got different things, everything was excellent. The service was top notch also.
The location is a cool artistic venue. We enjoyed the space. The menu was fairly limited for lunch, but food was tasty. We enjoyed the staff.
We were disappointed that this place which has always been one of our favorites was so disappointing. Not many choices of entrees, overpriced for what we got, unimaginitive food.
The extremely inventive new chef and sous chefs have created an outstanding menu that cannot be missed! From the moment the amuse bouche tantalizes your taste buds, you know you are in for a real treat. There is a flatbread appetizer that we cannot resist ordering because it is simply sublime, with changing ingredients every month. The staff are so welcoming that you feel like family. Rick, Darby, Tim, Tony, Mickey, Charles, Jorge, Kasey, Carissa, Paige, Taylor, Emma and Fia are AMAZING!!!!! Spoil yourself and prepare to have a sensational dining experience at Cafe Sebastienne!
Café Sebastienne is a favorite place for lunch. The atmosphere within the museum is fun and the food is always amazing!
We chose the Kemper Art Museum for my 60th birthday because 1) we love art and 2) Cafe Sebastienne never fails to delight. The food, the service, the ambiance - all excellent, all the time.
Thank you for making my special day a most happy one!
Amazing restaurant in Kansas City. Wonderful art and food! Highly recommend
My husband and I celebrated our Anniversary with a Sat. Brunch and a gander through the museum. It was my first time at Cafe Sebastienne. The wait staff were quirky and attentive. I had the Kobe hash dish with poached eggs, which i love, and spinach. I was a little disappointed with it...seemed to lack flavor and seemed like it wasn't cooked enough....the Kobe beef hash looked a little like canned dog food and it wasn't very warm by the time i ate it....hmmm, not very appetizing, I know. My husband had the Biscuit and Gravy and loved it! Then later I began to feel kind of strange and had that feeling that I had gotten some MSG. I hope not, not sure they use that toxic stuff, but i am very sensitive to it. Next time I will ask and make sure they don't use anything like that, if they did. It did seem like quality food tho and I will give it another try one day.
Always a great eat.
Had lunch yesterday. Excellent! Have eaten here for many years, very regularly when Jennifer Maloney was in charge. Miss her; miss her cooking. But the current chef seems to bringing things up to the standard Jennifer always maintained.
Everyone was nice and my coffee was great. I enjoyed my omelette as well.
Such innovative flavors and exquisite presentations!
Warm environment with plenty of natural light. Good menu and food was excellent. The spinach, mushroom, cream cheese omelet with salmon roe was fluffy, ample, delicious and satisfying.
We enjoyed brunch in the enclosed patio. Lots of natural light in that section. Noise echoes more in that area and we noticed it when a large party came to dine. But we still enjoyed our visit. Excellent food and presentation! Great service. You are paying for quality and that’s what we got. I was very pleased with my experience and will dine there again.
Café Sebastienne has been one of our favorite places for great food and conversation. The menus vary with the seasons; the wine offerings are well paired and generally very reasonably priced. Servers are pleasant and knowledgeable.
Great food (creative), fun ambiance, great service, and an opportunity to enjoy modern art while dining and before or after your meal.
Our first visit following the hire of a new chef. Ambiance is always excellent. Food quality was high, maintaining the the Sebastienne standard.
Great tasting food, although you feel very crowded inside the small area with all the paintings on the walls
Truly outstanding menu!
Our waiter was great and recommended the flatbread which was the best we've ever had!!
Birthday brunch was made special by the prompt service, super creative chef, and gracious general manager. Always an awesome experience.
Such an interesting menu. Wonderful Experience overall!
I wish you’d serve your Reuben sandwiches for dinner.
I wanted to like it more for lunch but the trout and the airline chicken were both uninspired. I’ve seen pictures of really interesting dinner choices but lunch seems like an afterthought. I’ll give it another try.
We had lunch during a visit to the museum. Very nice setting and delicious food
Excellent for brunch. We had relatives in town for a fencing tournament and the 17 year old said it was "her best breakfast ever" She ordered biscuits and gravy but hold the gravy...she was happy. Her dad also enjoyed the Benny!
The combination of stunning art and equally wonderful food made going to this restaurant a peak experience that I will long remember. the staff felt like friends and the service was great.
Excellent food and service! Always a good people watching place.
Have been going there for years and NEVER disappointed. Always great food and service surrounded by incredible art work at the Kemper Museum!!
It was my birthday and I invited 7 friends to have dinner with me. It was the perfect place ... we spent an hour visiting and going through the Museum’s main exhibition and then had a wonderful dinner with great service. Special shout-out to Tony who sent champagne to our table and is always charming and fun to encounter.
We had not been to Cafe Sebastienne since the new chef began. He is a true talent! Our meals were exceptionally good! Chef came to our table to explain dishes and to be hospitable. We LOVED our experience and our dinner! Can’t wait to return.
Wonderful Brunch! 3 of us all chose a different menu item. We couldn’t decide which had the best plate. We also had the yummy scones! Overall it was delicious, good service and beautiful setting.
I used to love this restaurant, but on our visit this week, it seems to have gone downhill a little. The main issue was that two of our meals came out incorrectly. They fixed one, but the other order, which was missing the chicken, was still served, with the chicken arriving about 5-10 minutes later on a side plate. We were entertaining out-of-town guests, and this just didn't impress. On the other hand, the autumn soup of the day was delish, as was my sandwich. It is very noisy in the restaurant, and even more so due to a group in the atrium.
It’s a “two-for” kind of place - the great ever-changing art and the interesting delicious cuisine. I love that I can get a fantastic Rueben in the same place I can get scallops or a unique seafood offering. The soup of the day never misses. Beautiful venue for gatherings - weddings, family reunions, Mothers Day, bridal or baby showers, it’s a Kansas City hidden gem.
The new chef is truly remarkable-great seasonal tastes and combinations that work beautifully. Can’t wait to come back!
