Café Sapori Ratings and Reviews
I had heard so much about this restaurants that I probably sent my expectations too high. My husband's tuna tartar was excellent, but our pastas were just average. If you do visit the restaurant make sure you get outdoor seating. I found it very loud in the main dining room.
Recommended by a friend. Food was very good---fish ordered by my wife was was excellent and my pasta with clams was good. The environment was nice but the the service from the time we entered was poor. We were not greeted cordially and our wedding anniversary we were celebrating never mentioned. Our waiter made us feel rushed since he asked numerous times whether we were ready to order our entrees when we made it clear we wanted to enjoy our cocktails first.
Our reservation was not honoured - we waited 45 minutes for our table. Our waiter did not present himself for an additional half hour. Water had to be requested 3 times. Three of four main course choices were no longer available. Our main courses were received only after we requested our bill to leave.
This was our first and obviously last visit. Very disappointing.
Management attempted to capitalize on Valentine's celebrations by adding many tables into walk waited waiters and patrons alike tried to plot routes between the tables and chairs unsuccessfully. Every passer by bumped into every guest. There was no avoiding it. This ruined the whole point of going out to a "high-end" restaurant. I couldn't wait to leave and couldn't enjoy the food or company in that environment. Our waiter attempted to make light of the situation he was clearly disappointed in himself by asking if we were enjoying the circus.
This was my first and last experience as there are many other options available, without a doubt, there are others that will retain the integrity of their trademark dining experience over the lure of a quick buck.
I always wanted to try Cafe Sapori so when Valentine's Day came, I made a reservation for my boyfriend and I. We had a cozy, corner table which was very nice and private. We were pleasantly surprised by how many families with young children there were. The service was great, the food was excellent and we are looking forward to getting there again. It really is the perfect restaurant for anyone. We highly recommend it.
The food is always very good as is the service and atmosphere. However, at times, I suppose depending on where our table is located, the restaurant can be so loud that it is virtually impossible to converse with anyone but the person next to you. Such was the case during our most recent visit. I recommend it for the food only if with people who you know well. We spent our whole dinner literally yelling.
The newly renovated outdoor area has a closed in ceiling and noise level was in bearable with only half full capacity. The old open air ceiling leaked but at least it was romantic and pleasant. Food was nothing to write home about and after going there since it opened nearly 15 years ago I will never go back. The wait staff were sirly also. When the matrade came by he did not care for our comment about the new ceiling and resulting noise. There used to be nice Italian music. The side dish of penne in meat sauce was hard penne and very dry pasty meat sauce. a quarter size serving that cost $11.
My friend and I had a fabulous evening at this restaurant. The ambience is wonderful and the service superb. Our cocktails were perfect and the Brie appetizer so delicious! The main courses of sea bass and veal medallions were excellent. We will definitely be back.
