Very busy all the time. Despite that food and service were good. I'll go back.
Delicious food, nice atmosphere dining on the outside patio.
This was my second time at Cafe Santorini and I had a rather mediocre experience. I chose Cafe Santorini because of its tasty food and venue, but I did not expect such poor service from management and staff. I made a reservation for 8 people earlier in the week, and was told by the hostess that I could not make my reservation for 7pm because of my large party. Instead I made my reservation for 6:30pm. We arrived at 6:32pm and were not seated until 7:10pm! When we asked the manager why our table was not ready on time he indicated that "we were late". To make matters worse, our food was delayed and our waiter was inattentive. As a result, we received free desserts from the restaurant, but at this point I was completely disappointed with my experience.
I would recommend Cafe Santorini for smaller parities, but I would caution people to be prepared for bad service.
I have been here many times and the service is always excellent. Michael took especially good care of us. We were able to sit over coffee and just enjoy our conversation without being rushed.
I had the shrimp cappellini and it's a good portion and prepared just right. Tiramisu is also great. My ONLY suggestion that it would be a nice touch to heat the cream for coffee.
This place is tucked away into the heart of Old Town Pasadena. The food and service are absolutely amazing! We will definitely be back soon :)
OMG! It was least expected thing that happened to us!! My husband & I went to Norton Simon museum and came here for dinner, we loved it so much that we’d just come back here just for this awsome restaurant. Great service, food & environment!
Awesome food, ambience, service - my favorite restaurant so far in Pasadena!
We've been visiting Cafe Santorini for over 15 years. Always our favorite date spot. We were disappointed with our dinner experience, however. Tables are too close together. The young man bringing food to another table bumped my wife and said "beep beep" when he should have apologized. Our server was MIA when we arrived, didn't greet us when he did show up, was loud and obnoxious with other tables, didn't help us for 15 minutes, and just generally sucked.
I had the chicken with potatoes. Chicken and veggies were delicious. But potatoes were stale and hard. Like they had been sitting for a while. I would have asked for replacements but our waiter wasn't around. My wife enjoyed her risotto, however. We skipped dessert to get the hell out of there.
Not sure we will be back. Which is disappointing because it has been such an important part of our married years.
The food was terrific as usual and the service was wonderful too.
However, the evening we were there the patio was packed in like sardines. I don't recall ever experiencing it that way in the past. We were five people at two two-person tables which was very tight, and were also right on top of the tables behind us. I was uncomfortable to the point that we left much sooner than we normally would have. I hope this was just a lark for that evening.
I have enjoyed Café Santorini for many years, but my roommate, who is a special friend, had never dined there. So, I decided that it was the perfect spot for his birthday dinner. And we were not disappointed! Everything was as nice as could be: the ambience, the extensive menu, the wonderful service, the presentation and the taste (!) of everything we ordered, and the surprise dessert that was presented, with the obligatory candle. He enjoyed his soup as a first course, while I devoured my dinner salad (great dressing). His choice for an entrée was Grilled Beef Brochette, which he said was as tender as could be. I tried something new (to me, at least): YUVETSI (slow-roasted lamb with tomatoes and onions, baked with orzo pasta, finished with grated Kasseri cheese). It was absolutely delicious and so filling that I have at least half left over to enjoy at home. We couldn't have picked a better spot for a birthday celebration. And both of us want to return in the summer when the patio, on a warm summer evening, is unbeatable.
Cafe Santorini never disappoints. A top notch wait staff and a good variety of excellent food make for a wonderful time.
My friend and I expected a lot more from Cafe Santorini. Our waiter seemed distracted, poor service. The waiter serving water though was very friendly and helpful. I won't be in a hurry to return. The food wasn't very exciting and didn't seem a good example of Mediterranean food.
Awesome as always.
Amazing staff, wonderful food. A truly great experience!
We were in Pasadena on vacation and chose this restaurant based on positive Yelp reviews. Based on our experience, we wholeheartedly agree with the Yelpers! We had a delicious dinner al fresco and we'd certainly return. Our son who's a vegetarian and joined us also really enjoyed his meal, which consisted of roasted butternut squash, quinoa, and other veggies . . . both healthy & tasty.
Nice find on OpenTable. We love Mediterranean foods and this offered a diversified variety of appetizers, hot and cold, and sharing options. We made reservations and got there a little early so we were asked if we could wait at the bar until a table was cleaned. We ordered two drinks and they were great. The hostess came to us and said that our table was ready. However, when we returned to the hostess table, we were told to wait another 5 minutes. Seems they were short on cleaning staff. They apologized for the extra wait time and when we were seated, the waiter also apologized for the additional wait time. We were seated on the outside patio with a corner table for two which just perfect. They brought us some bread which was kind of a thicker type of pita and it was very tasty. Our main course meals came promptly and they were delicious. We would recommend to anyone and we plan to go again.
We booked dinner here for Valentine's and because it was rated high as a romantic dinner venue. Although the setting, outdoor rooftop in Old Town Pasadena, looks great in photos, we found the restaurant packed, and the seating was horrible: not a private table for 2 in the whole restaurant: all thin tables side by side with other tables so that you were sitting closer to your neighbor than your partner across the table.
The food was very good, a mix of Italian and Middle eastern, and their baked dishes, pizzas and bread were excellent. We had a glitch with service: waited over 15 minutes without any contact with the waiter. When I got up to get help, the waiter for an adjacent section came over and took over for us very well. Apparently there was a problem with the computer generating the bills.
Overall: good food, location, but the seating was bad and the service borderline. Not romantic.
Had a really good time. Execellent vegetarian food. Nice service from the friendly staff. I would highly recommend
Amazing polite staff! I put ur noise level high as positive feedback everyone in the restaurant was having a blast, will definitely come back!
Everything we ordered tasted absolutely amazing!
Absolutely lovely for an intimate date night with my husband. The food was to die for - we had the steak special and the Santorini pizza which is incredible. The service was wonderful; our waiter did not intrude or bother us but we still felt taken care of. Sitting on the patio with its beautiful lights was divine, and made for a wonderful setting for conversation.
Felt well party
Our friends were visiting from Cape Cod and it was a perfect place to take them on a beautiful California afternoon We sat outside and it was lovely
My husband had the beef kabob and I had the shrimp with angel hair pasta. Both delicious The service was good and timing just right. We were able to enjoy our drinks and dessert without being hurried.
Perfect place for lunch or dinner See you again soon
Perfect place for lunch, lovely atmosphere outside, great food and service. Wish we lived closer!
Great this is one of my favorite restaurants ! When you're in Pasadena it's a must!
Had a wonderful Valentines dinner with my wife!
Went to Cafe Santorini with my girlfriend for valentine's day. Sat on the patio, which had a lovely feel to it. Food was tasty and portions were great. They had a special valentine's day menu when we ate but if the regular food is of a similar quality I would definitely go back. Service was fairly quick, although a little too much at times. Seating on the patio was tight, thankfully it didn't start filling up until the end of our meal. Overall a really enjoyable place to eat in Pasadena. If I'm in the area again I would most likely go back.
Ahi Salad was delish! The Borek and Spinakopita appetizer is yummy. They do nice cocktails. When it's warm, it's nice to sit outside.
I really enjoyed the food. It was so delicious. Service was good. very polite .
Too expensive !
Martini like drink $16!!
For me and my gf $255 with tax and tip we had house wine and 2 after dinner drinks
I ordered cioppino but it was a bowl of pasta with fish in it NO SOUP!!
Nice ambience and location food is good for most dishes
Just don’t drink!!
Loved the service and food.
Five longtime friends dined at Santorini on a Saturday night. Access is difficult for anyone with mobility issues, since it is on the second floor with no elevator. It was very crowded with no good waiting place while waiting for the table. I felt sorry for the people seated near the checkin desk. The food is quite good, but service is a little leisurely, which may be ok since portions are large. The wine list is good, but prices are so high that even with the $20 corkage fee, bringing your own wine is advisable. Tables are very close to each other. The noise level was very high. Not a place for intimate dining or conversation with friends. It may be better on a weekday rather than weekend.
Love love love this place! Got married 22 years ago downstairs in the party room,
and we go there on our Anniversary every year!
Always so good and they’re so nice!
Amazing experience great time with friends, thank you for the great customer service and for accommodating my guests!!!
Did not get what I requested
Birthday but we forgot to tell them so we didn’t get anythinf special
Got a recommendation to visit this lovely establishment while I was in Pasadena, and I am NOT sad that I went. The food was absolutely amazing. I had the lamb kebabs, which was PLENTY of food for just me (along with that tasty bread everyone gets!). I also ordered a half-bottle of wine. The service quality was great. Timing was a LITTLE slow. I was approached immediately upon being seated, however, my half bottle of wine took about 12-15 minutes to be delivered from order. All was well though, I was able to enjoy the ambiance while I waited!
I had the special it was great
The bar is pretty, there was a happy hour. Stairs up, did not see an elevator. Restrooms are scary, down the stairs, then more stairs around the corner by the private room they have. I thought it was creepy. Food, not impressed. Basket of bread, nuked. Salad, apple was bruised, and you put it on my plate? Grilled vegetable plate and ribeye special were good according to my family. Lovely place just not impresses.
Staff members were very accommodating and pleasant and made you feel welcomed.
This is our 3rd time eating at this restaurant and we will definitely go back.
