Cafe Renaissance Ratings and Reviews
This is our new favorite restaurant that we will go to time after time. It's great for a fine intimate dinner for two or to go with a small group of friends. The food was excellent as was the service. I also liked the busboy/helper who let us linger over our dinner and made us feel at ease. The waiter was friendly, most knowledgeable and attentive. After dinner the owner stopped by to offer us some port wine in appreciation for our being there and because he was gracious to his guests. Don't let the location, in a small strip mall, put you off. Go inside and enjoy a great meal.
This is my third time eating at Café Renaissance and as with the previous two occasions, I was impressed by the overall quality of the dining experience. The staff is super friendly, warm and welcoming. You feel more like you are dining with old friends as opposed to being a patron in a restaurant. (Since I've only eaten there at lunch, I cannot say what it's like when it gets busy at dinner - but I would think the individualized service and ambiance would be similar.)
The food is wonderfully prepared and the selections are quite numerous. Even the desserts are a cut above and served with a flair.
Café Renaissance has become one of my "go to" favorites and I would highly recommend it to anyone seeking a fabulous meal at a reasonable price.
We've been here several times and have always had a wonderful time. Everyone who works there goes out of their way to make sure you have a great time and they're all very personable. The head chef also came out to talk with us. I highly recommend it. We always have a great time and the food is exceptional.
We were disappointed with our Christmas dinner at Cafe Renaissance. It was not a pleasurable dining experience. It was a restaurant meal. The food was good and well presented, the service was adequate, but it did not qualify as a very nice evening out for dinner. It was noisy and crowded. At a 7:30 seating already two of the limited number of entrees had been sold out. Our waiter didn't seem to understand a leisurely dinner.
Went Christmas day hoping to have a nice dinner for my family of 4. Hands down the worst food I've ever tried to eat including McDonald's. The food was clearly prepared well on advance and reheated. It wasn't worth $5 and they charged around $30/plate. I don't mind paying for a good meal, but this was absolutely disgusting.
What a pleasant surprise! We stumbled upon this hidden gem and it surely will be a keeper. The food is definitely top notch and created artistically. The owner is very friendly and even offered us a handcrafted cocktail, sat down with us and talked about how he opened this restaurant. We left very happy!
Cafe Renaissance never ceases to amaze! We've been several times and each time the service in impeccable. The Food is fantastic (Lentil Soup for app, Hanger steak special, lamb chop special, Filet Mignon Sauce au Dubonnet and the Capellini aux fruits de Mer for mains). The wine that we asked for was out, so the staff brought out 4 others bottles that were comparable and made an outstanding recommendation (we had two by the end of the night). The post-dinner irish coffees are not to be missed and the lemon sorbet really gave a refreshing end to the evening. We were there for hours, never felt rushed and they truly treat you like you're the most important person in the restuarant. It feels like family and you absolutely get what you pay for. We're already planning our return!
From the time we were greeted at the door until we left, bellies full of very tasty and ample food, my daughter and I were treated like royalty. The server was very friendly and quick to fill any request, no matter how mundane. I highly recommend Cafe Renaissance. The complimentary port was just the icing on the cake.
Took my wife their for date night. Really friendly and accessible staff. Expect to meet the owner and the chef. Ambiance is traditional, quaint and cozy. Clearly a loyal clientele judging by the familiarity I observed between staff and diners, and the presence of a few groups there that looked like they were there for their annual holiday dinner together.
Food is basic (fish and red meat) and good, but I've had food with more flavor. A safe bet for people who are not adventurous "foodies."
We will go back because the chef is talented, the desserts are fab & the chef visits with patrons whenever he can. However during in this visit the party next to us were far too loud. And our waiter hovered too much. Being attentive is great but this was ridiculous.
I have known Cafe Renaissance for more than 20 years. It has always been excellent, consistently excellent. My concern is now that you will go I will not be able to get a reservation! By the way, their monthly wine dinners are the most complete and best in the metropolitan Washington area.
My wife and I visited this restaurant many times with friends and alone - once, even for a New Year's celebration - this time for the Thanksgiving dinner. We were greeted like friends even though we had not been there for some time. The service was very attentive, and the food was absolutely great. They are in this place for years and with all the competition around they survive - great food, comfortable atmosphere, and service - wishing them to continue their fine job with a lot of success in the future.
Cafe Renaissance and staff are the best ever. It is the epitome of graceful elegance, the food always perfect and the floral arrangements so beautifully arranged and presented. It is a drive for us, but well worth it.....the way to a friend's house is never long.
Was hoping for a neighborhood gem located in a strip mall. Did not quite live up to hoped for expectations. The traditional French dishes had a local or, at least, non-Parisienne recipe. Mussels served room temperature with a heavy cream sauce. Escargot with little garlic, no breadcrumbs. And a little chewy. Nice presentation and good tasting entrees--pork chops, veal liver, gnocchi, and sole. Small wine list, but good matches for the food. Wait staff was friendly and attentive. Not a keeper, but won't refuse a dinner invitation there.
