Cafe Renaissance Ratings and Reviews
My husband and I went to Cafe Renaissance for Valentine's Day. For the occasion, the restaurant had a fixed, 3-course dinner. We had a choice of about 6 appetizers, about a dozen entrees, and then a dessert sampler. A wonderful dinner! And, even though the restaurant was completely full, we could still carry on a conversation or enjoy the background music.
From the greeting we received as we came through the door until we left after dinner, the experience was characterized by friendly and responsive service, a warm ambiance and scrumptious food. The mushroom and leek soup was outstanding as were the braised beef ribs—then the limoncello cake—wow!!!
Friendly, welcoming place with good food and a pleasant atmosphere. We went the evening before Valentine's Day to beat the rush. Neither of us found it quite as good as some of the reviews we'd read led us to believe, however. My flounder with saffron sauce and a small crabcake, one of the specials that evening, was pretty ordinary and the sauce quite bland. My wife had a thick filet mignon with a Dubonet glaze. It was tasty, but the glaze/sauce was insufficient for the size of the steak. We liked the assortment of accompanying vegetables. It was our first visit and we will probably return to try something quite different to see if we can discover what all the fuss is about.
This place is nothing to look at from the outside, but once you get inside it's pretty great. The staff is attentive and very nice. The food is really excellent. I don't even like oysters and I ate 2 of them from my wife's oyster appetizer plate. Anything done tableside was really quite a show. We didn't try the Irish Coffee but it looked amazing.
The food and service were excellent at the Cafe. I had the monk fish special with a pureed orange pepper sauce; my two friends had the vegetarian lasagna. The monk fish was tender and tasty, and my friends said they liked the lasagna which had egg plant in it. We all had delicious chocolate mousse for dessert. The service was attentive, but not intrusive. We lingered on about an hour after lunch, drinking tea and chatting. They didn't try to hustle us out.
Cafe Renaissance is always a very nice place for brunch, lunch or dinner. Once in a while an entree can be a bit off the mark. Brunch fish entree in Marsala sauce didn't exactly make it this time, but the restaurant will get many more opportunities with us to succeed.
This is our new favorite restaurant that we will go to time after time. It's great for a fine intimate dinner for two or to go with a small group of friends. The food was excellent as was the service. I also liked the busboy/helper who let us linger over our dinner and made us feel at ease. The waiter was friendly, most knowledgeable and attentive. After dinner the owner stopped by to offer us some port wine in appreciation for our being there and because he was gracious to his guests. Don't let the location, in a small strip mall, put you off. Go inside and enjoy a great meal.
This place is a good get away. All good. A place to go when you need a good meal. Allow lots of time...the pace is gated but worth the experience if you're not in a rush. Your waiter may elect to help you with what you order by telling you what you need and want.. they know. A trust in your waiter is in order. Surrender..
This is my third time eating at Café Renaissance and as with the previous two occasions, I was impressed by the overall quality of the dining experience. The staff is super friendly, warm and welcoming. You feel more like you are dining with old friends as opposed to being a patron in a restaurant. (Since I've only eaten there at lunch, I cannot say what it's like when it gets busy at dinner - but I would think the individualized service and ambiance would be similar.)
The food is wonderfully prepared and the selections are quite numerous. Even the desserts are a cut above and served with a flair.
Café Renaissance has become one of my "go to" favorites and I would highly recommend it to anyone seeking a fabulous meal at a reasonable price.
We've been here several times and have always had a wonderful time. Everyone who works there goes out of their way to make sure you have a great time and they're all very personable. The head chef also came out to talk with us. I highly recommend it. We always have a great time and the food is exceptional.
We were disappointed with our Christmas dinner at Cafe Renaissance. It was not a pleasurable dining experience. It was a restaurant meal. The food was good and well presented, the service was adequate, but it did not qualify as a very nice evening out for dinner. It was noisy and crowded. At a 7:30 seating already two of the limited number of entrees had been sold out. Our waiter didn't seem to understand a leisurely dinner.
Went Christmas day hoping to have a nice dinner for my family of 4. Hands down the worst food I've ever tried to eat including McDonald's. The food was clearly prepared well on advance and reheated. It wasn't worth $5 and they charged around $30/plate. I don't mind paying for a good meal, but this was absolutely disgusting.
