Cafe Renaissance Ratings and Reviews
The owner is always on the floor making sure everybody is happy and feels at home. We had a wonderful chat with him, learned about his life and the restaurant history. There is always a large bouquet of beautiful fresh flowers in the center of the room and equally beautiful in the restroom. The interior looks classy and festive, a contemporary version of an old French restaurant. A rare stylish place you would want to dress up for and feel special.
My wife and I Celebrated our anniversary. We had an excellent experience. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was gorgeous, we actually took pictures. The staff was incredible, it felt like we were family. I highly recommend this place. We will definitely return.
As always, our meal at Cafe Renaissance was outstanding. The owner, Sayeed, was truly made for this business - although we don't dine out as often as we used to, every time we go, we are greeted warmly and details are remembered ("oh, it's your husband's birthday, I'll start on the bananas foster" [which, by the way, I highly recommend]).
My husband and teenage kids ordered the filet mignon - quality-wise, it is on par with what one would get at a high-end steakhouse, but it is considerably less expensive. I always go for the fish dishes. My favorite is the loup de mer - I got the special this time (tomatoes, capers, and olives), but the menu version I've had other times is equally as good.
We have been to Cafe Renaissance many times over a period of years. It is consistently a wonderful restaurant. The menu items are consistently good; and, there are specials every day.
On this occasion, we visited for Sunday brunch. The meal was, as usual, top notch and a great "value for money" (i.e., soup or salad, choice of three different entrees, dessert and coffee for about $20 per person).
The food was superb. We all left clean plates the food was so delicious. The service could not have been better. The staff even went out of there way to sing Happy Birthday to our friend.
Thank you! Suggestion: in the private dining room I would continue to keep the room warm with the bottom half of the windows covered, but would select something more attractive to match the rest of your beautiful restaurant. We will be back to celebrate other special occasions.
The hosts were most gracious, charming, and attentive. The flaming drink was outstanding. My appetizer of crab and avocado was delicious. My entree of capellini with seafood was a bit heavy. There was quite a number of people there for a Monday night. I had not been there in a few years.
Top notch restaurant! My husband and I took an out of town friend there for dinner and she is still talking about her memorable night at Cafe Renaissance. Excellent wines were recommended by owner Saeed and a fantastic dinner was made for us by Chef Ocean. Our meal was delicious and wine was excellent.
Very good as usual. Fine food, good service. Quiet night. Allow 2 hours for dinner. The pace can a steady dinner cruise but it is as it should be. No problem but don't be in an unhealthy rush. I would recommend a night here and I will return here. You can discuss "life" with your waiter if you want to. I feel good.
This restaurant is not what it used to be. Food was very Sloppy, I ordered the most expensive dish lobster $40+ was super bland and the sauce was splashed all over the plate as if they threw the lobster off the pan to the plate. Desert was sloppy in presentation also. I think I get better cake from whole food market. In conclusion, the prices went up but the quality of the food declined tremendously. Manager is very charming, he would come over to table and put up a charm. I came to eat good dinner not for the charm. I had guest coming from California and she was even disappointed in the cuisine.
Four of us had brunch at Cafe Renaissance. While we are all "regulars" this was special because we had learned that Chef Jean Claud would be in the kitchen, and we had heard he was a marvelous Chef. The information proved correct. The Brunch was outstanding. While Jean Claud will not be at Cafe Renaissance on a full-time basis, we hope he will be there at other times when we dine.
Exceptional from start to finish. It was worth the drive from DC to be met at the door by our excellent waiter. It is a small restaurant (12-15 tables) and nicely decorated. The escargot were exceptional, as were our lamb, beef & seafood entrees. They prepared a very nice dessert for my wife's birthday. The owner/chef also warmly greeted his guests. The next time I am in DC, I will definitely come again.
This will always be a favorite special occasion place for us. The owner, Saeed, should give other restaurateurs lessons on how to make guests feel welcome!
The food, as always, was delicious. I had one of the fish specials - snapper in a lentil sauce. My husband's had a saffron-ginger sauce, our teenage kids shared the Chateaubriand. All were impeccable. Although I generally avoid dairy, I did make an exception, to have a little bit of ice cream with the flambéed apples.
Outstanding restaurant. We have never been disappointed. Our friends also enjoyed the excellent food (halibut was fabulous), lovely ambiance (fresh flowers on every table) and friendly staff (Saeed was particularly kind with serving flaming tableside banana foster, chef came to table to explain ingredients on menu and give recommendations and waiter was extremely pleasant . A wonderful evening and we will definitely go back.
We've been here several times, and each time reminds me why I think this is one of, if not the, best restaurants in the DC metro area. We went on a week-night, so it was not too busy. The chef and maitre d' came over and spoke personally with us. And one is wise to follow whatever the chef recommends. He is really an artist. Why aren't there more restaurants like Cafe Renaissance? Fine dining seems a dying art. Get here before it's too late!
