My wife and I both had the Halibat entree and it was excellent! Very niced size of portion, and the vegitables were done perfectly. It was for our aniversity, and they remembered that and gave us a nice complementary desert sampling. There were also a number of Birthday celebrations going on that night also, and were also recepients of the complementary desert. A shout out to Saeed and staff for a very excellent night out.

Our dining experience was wonderful. Cafe Rennaissance is our favorite restaurant. The ambiance is so pleasant. The cuisine as always was fabulous. Everyone in our party of eight enjoyed their meal. We celebrated my birthday and had so much fun. We will return again soon. Two people in our group have never dined there before, but now they have they want to come back.

The best dining out experience in the DMV area is in Vienna, VA. Amazing food, great wine prices, creative cocktails and a gorgeous room. The host/owner has amazing rapport with new customers and regulars. I make the trip from DC as often as possible.

It was our fist time at Cafe Renaissance to celebrate my birthday. We all had a wonderful time. Saeed, the owner, made sure that we were all well taken cared of. He personally attended to our table and was very nice and accommodating the whole time. The food was wonderful, everyone was full and satisfied. We really had an exceptional time at this restaurant. Wonderful customer service, amazing ambience, and superb food. We will definitely be coming back.

We drove one hour from Maryland to meet our friends from Alexandria, VA for dinner. The food and the service were very good! The restaurant vibe is very cozy and romantic, we felt that we were in one of the bistros in Paris. We certainly recommend and will be back soon.

This gem of a restaurant -- tucked away in a tiny Vienna strip mall -- delivers flawlessly Every Single Time. It has long ago achieved (and effortlessly maintained) "favorite restaurant" status for my wife and me. The menu is excellent, the wine selection is impressive, the service is impeccable, the food is outstanding, and the ambiance is that of a small, boutique restaurant where you can easily carry on a conversation without having to raise your voice to be heard across the table. The owner is there every night, greets every guest personally, and makes his rounds to check up on the tables to ensure everyone's dining experience meets his expectations for the restaurant There is not a single thing I would change about this restaurant. If I could give it 6 stars, I would.

This is a family experience. When I say family, I mean our relationship with the restaurant. Our time spent in this restaurant is monumental. The Renaissance staff ARE our family!!! 20 year relationship. The depth is indescribable.

Quiet place on Sunday evening - good food, and as promised the m'aitre D was fantastic. Friendly, approachable, and knew most of the people in the restaurant. Since it was our first visit, we got a special dessert. Generous pours on the wine by the glass and the bread was amazing. All the touches made it very nice. Loved everything except the decor was a bit dated. If you can overlook that it is a must try.

First time at this restaurant and had high expectations..first the good.The food was very good…especially the sides. I am very picky about onion soup and had many variations at the finest French restaurants in the DC area…this was by far the best I’ve ever had. The veal and fish entrees did not disappoint. Now the not so good…for some reason ( maybe because we booked the reservations for the first seating) the employees were busy setting tables and rearranging them..slightly distracting but not a huge issue..what I find disappointing and frankly disrespectful was the fact they moved the tables right next to us and swept (with a regular broom and dust pan) the carpet surrounding us. Dust was everywhere and they didn’t apologize or even acknowledge that this may have interrupted our fine dining experience. I have never experienced anything like this before and really don’t understand how they think this was ok. If they needed to clean and prepare maybe start taking reservations later? Unfortunately we won’t be back.

The food did not seem to be made at the restaurant. The beets in the beet salad tasted canned. I left all of them on my plate and no questions were asked as my plate was removed. The onion soup did have a delicious broth but the halibut entree seemed to have been microwaved and the almonds on top were not toasted. The salmon Wellington also seemed to have been frozen at some point as the pastry was not flaky, rather sodden.

Did not have owner present last time - quite the difference. He was effusively gracious and grateful. Enhanced our experience. So did the oven-heated plate - food stayed perfectly warm throughout. We are always greeted as though we're old friends; we basically are, as we've celebrated every anniversary since our 2004 wedding here, both because the food is amazing and perfectly prepared, and because we're treated like the only guests in the house in spite of its being pretty full. I would recommend Cafe Renaissance highly to not just friends, but anyone looking for a wonderful eating experience, and to Tom Sietsema at the Washington Post, should he get himself to Cafe Renaissance to find out for himself how recommend-able it is. This is a special restaurant. The ambience is charming. The food is outstanding. The service is excellent. Examples: the Caesar salad was dressed perfectly with a flavorful but not overpowering dressing; the Coquilles Saint Jacques was perfectly cooked and beautifully presented; and aside — a carrot that accessorized the main dishes was the most magnificent carrot we ever tasted — a little, but significant thing. The dinner concluded with great coffee and several small desserts. Terrific! We hope to return many times.
