About

This restaurant is permanently closed. Cafe Pyrenees is tucked inside the Adler Square Shopping Plaza in Libertyville, IL. Once you step inside you're treated to warm color tones, greenery, a myriad of wine bottles, hearty brick features, and fresh smells of the featured dishes. Customers rave about the mouth watering dessert delight Chocolate Feuilletine, A.k.a. “The Hockey Puck” which is a crispy praline topped with dark chocolate mousse and then covered with dark chocolate ganache. If you aren't ready to start your meal with a dessert customers suggest to begin with a simple order of Escargot drenched in herbed butter or give the Duck Quesadilla a try with it's blended flavors of melted cheese, duck confit and a homemade cherry mango chutney. Some of the traditional entree staples you will find are Steak Frites, Beef Bourguignon, Seafood Ravioli filled with shrimp, scallops, crab meat and lobster sauce, Chicken Paillarde and Sauteed Calves Liver. Weekly drink specials Wild Wine Wednesday, 1/2 price Martini Fridays!

They are closed. This was their final night and it was a disaster. Ran out of food and liquor.

Cafe Pyrenees has an excellent choice of foods (fish, vegetarian, meat). Was there on Tuesday and greatly enjoyed their pri fix menu which includes salad/appetizer, entree and dessert. Also, a large selection of wine choices.

Each of our selections was very good. The value here can be better than others around town. Wine prices are reasonable. Need to hit the reservation time more accurately.

The overall food selection was good. Escargot was pretty good, but the appetizer of the day (mushroom/cheese) was just ok. Some of the dishes on the menu were pretty good (hanger steak and beef bourguignon). However, vegetable risotto was the consistency of an oatmeal with large chunks of flavorless vegetables.

Delicious as always. A little sad they don't have their fantastic beef tenderloin entree anymore but the beef bouerginon was superb. My dad loved his salmon and the kids loved the hangar steak. My dad, who is a bit picky, says this is his new favorite restaurant in Libertyville.

I didn’t give it more stars because the service was extremely slow. A number of times, it felt like we were completely forgotten by our waiter. Have been there many times before and it has not happened. Don’t know why that particular evening.

I arranged a large group (12 people) to come for dinner to take advantage of the special menu on offer. From the moment I walked in, I was made to feel at ease, and even with a large group, booked online and asking for separate checks, the welcome was very pleasant. The service by our waiter was exceptionally good too, attentive but not obtrusive, and very efficient. I would happily come back and will, at the first opportunity.

Big taste, not too saucy!!
Cafe Pyrenees never disappoints. Lovely service, delicious food. Worth the drive and the slightly above average prices.

Decent food, if you have two hours to expend in a meal. A delay is expected when waiting for an entree, but when you are not promptly greeted and then have to wait 20’ for the soup, 21’ for the entree and anther 15 for a pre-made dessert, another 15 for your check and an extra 10’ for the check to be pick up. You just feel neglected and the food experience in overrided but the uncomfortable feeling of been in a non efficient or caring production line.

As always, Cafe Pyrenees has great wines available and personable service. I appreciate that their meal portions aren't so huge that I can't finish and still have desserts and appetizers.

Went during Restaurant Week; the $25 price fixed menu was a great deal. The restauarant is a little more expensive normally but reasonable given the quality of the food. Very good wine menu.

Went for restaurant week. Enjoyed our meal. Good ambiance, service and great food. Bar is quite nice. Wish we had come earlier to listen to the live music before dinner. Creme brulee was amazing. My husband has escargot app and he lived it. Overall a great experience.

Food and ambience was outstanding...the little jewel we have been looking for in our area did not disappoint. Reasonable pricing especially in the bar. Next time we are going to enjoy the bar menu and the reasonably priced drink and wine offerings with friends in the bar area of the restaurant...wonderful quite space to enjoy appetizers and cocktails. Our new favorite French restaurant!

Will not recommend for a small group, unless you get a separate room for a special occasion.

Cafe Pyrenees is a tried and true destination for dinner. We have been eating at this restaurant beginning with their Vernon Hills location and then moving to their Libertyville location. It is authentic and delicious French food served by staff who are very well informed. The wine selection is excellent!

We used to love this place. The menu has changed from being a french bistro type of restaurant to a more international fare. The food was good. I took over an hour to get our entrees. The $28 Beef Bourguignon is overpriced. With the beef you a dollop of mashed potatoes and three miniature carrots (the kind they sell in plastic bags in the grocery store). You can't peel and cut your own carrots? I don't think we will return.
