    The finest casual dining in central Vermont by far!! Chef Robert is a local treasure! Cafe Provence is well worth the trip for all visitors!!!! Reminds me of Alsace and Provence! Primo delizioso.

    Really good food and atmosphere; weirdly inattentive service (second time this has happened). NOT busy so that's not an excuse. Half hour to get our drinks (also second time this has happened). Bread arrived after entrees.

    we had to wait over an hour for service and food. The fries were greasy, the ham very salty the booth we reserved (confirmed) was not available for the time requested.

    Waitstaff was quick and efficient. Our soups were excellent along with wine. It is interesting to watch the chef in action. Our meals were excellent the sauce on the duck duo complimented it very well..we shared a desert that was a sampler of most items. Overall excellent and we will return!

    Excellent Provencal-style cuisine...French Onion Soup was among the best Ive had, Cassoulet was a nice variation on the stew, Duck two-ways: fantastic, Bouillabaisse-Style fish stew with Lobster Tarragon sauce was perhaps the highpoint. Like the dessert sampler idea as well. A must visit!

    This is one of our favorite restaurants in Vermont. The food is excellent and the service is attentive and friendly. Highly recommended and we can't wait to go back!

    Great service, and a wonderful meal. Chicken dish was moist and had great flavor. Scallop & salmon special with risotto was excellent. I would definitely recommend!

    The roast chicken which appeared to be cooked was icy cold in the center and had to returned to be reheated. The meal had obviously been prepared in advance or prepurchased. The plates were hot but the food was only warm. The meal was a disappointment.

    So glad we ventured down from Middlebury for an absolutely amazing meal. The day’s specials were incredible! We asked for a booth because my husband wears hearing aids. We could actually have a conversation. It can be impossible for us to have a conversation in some restaurants. I look forward to a return trip soon!

    We had a wonderful New Years Eve dinner here. There aren't many restaurants in Brandon , but this makes it worth while. We don't usually eat on on NYE because it is such a chaotic night, but this was none of that. This restaurant is a must.

    I treated myself to the cafe twice during my trip to Brandon. I enjoyed the fish stew after a chilly cycling day - it was generous and delicious. My cocktail was perfect and I indulged in the warm apple crisp w fresh local vanilla ice cream - I loved it!!

    The pace of the evening was a bit slow. Almost like we were forgotten about a little bit. My meal was good, but not as good as I expected. Wine was great, hostess was a bit cranky. We sat outside which was nice, but we could have used a bit more light. There was no candle on the table (or salt/Pepper or sugars for that matter).

    I was celebrating an excellently attended art show opening at the Brandon Artist's Guild next door. The Cafe was quite crowded, and although our waitress tried, she wasn't able to provide very timely service. The food was wonderful as always.

    I love Cafe Provence. However the main menu has hardly changed in too long a time. The lasagna has been almost cold the last two times I’ve had it. Often the restaurant seems short one wait staff. But I will contnue to come because overall it is a good experience! They also could use more interesting vegitarion options.

    The food was superb here; the best we ate while on vacation in Vermont. Their wine and other drink selections were quite good, too. But it was the preparation and presentation of the food that would bring us back again.

    While we have had overall positive experiences at Café Provence, it was obvious that our salad was not freshly prepared this time. We purchased three of the same, and they all lacked the ‘wow’ factor I was hoping to give my two other family members who were looking forward to enjoying this particular salad that I had raved about for quite some time. The first time I had this dish, it had crisp overflowing spinach in the crispy cheese cup. Much of it was limp this trip, barely filled the cup, and the cheese had the texture of a stale cracker, rather than a crisp one. Despite reservations, we still waited over an hour to be served, but enjoyed the complimentary bread and butter while we waited. I’m hoping it was just an ‘off night’ for the restaurant, and look forward to a better visit next time (especially considering it’s above our usual dining budget guidelines for our family). Five stars last time, four this time, and look forward to the next trip and hopefully another five star review!

    Food is top quality. Had excellent beet and goat cheese salad, then perfectly cooked salmon on linguine. Very nice room and great service.

    We come up to the area 2x each summer as our kids go to camp there and have been talking about trying to get here for several years. It was not worth the wait. It took 40 minutes from the time we ordered until the appetizers arrived. Mussels were bad--bland, which I would not expect for a French restaurant. There was a tomato pie that was better, but mediocre. Our main were a haddock with crabmeat with polenta. It was a mess. The polenta tasted like it had been under a heat lamp for a long time. Which it probably was, since our mains came 40 minutes after we finished our apps. The cavatelli was very good--the only dish of the 4 we ordered I can say that about. Service was not good even putting aside the unacceptably slow delivery of food. Server was visibly disappointed when we told her we didn't drink alcohol. Sorry! We don't drink. Yes, you make make a smaller tip but deal with it. If you act like that, you will DEFINITELY make a smaller tip. We were very disappointed in this meal.

    As always, we had a fabulous lunch at Café Provence in a beautiful setting that gives the feel that you might be in France. The menu has something for everybody - from fussy to the more adventurous. Our occasion was a family gathering of 3 generations of women.

    Food was decent but there is no A/C. It was a very warm evening and the place was unbearably hot - so much so that we lost our appetite.

    We go to Cafe Provence frequently and it doesn't disappoint. Food was delicious and beautifully presented. Service was good and they let you linger over your food and talk with your supper companions. This is welcome as some places try to rush you.
