service was attentive and the food worth the drive. Noise varied as people came and went . No one rushed us and we were able to enjoy ourselves and our visit with our friends.

It's a good spot, though prefer the back wine bar when it is open. Though totally fine.

This is a sweet little spot if you need a place to eat before or after a BAM event. A short walk away. A pretty corner spot across from the park, and the food was good, the service friendly. It was quite noisy when we arrived, enough so that we had to shout to be heard. Later the crowd thinned and the noise died down a bit. I'd go back.

Will definitely revisit again! The staff was kind enough to waive the fee for the dessert because of accidental delay.

This is a good classic French food in a pleasant non-fussy setting. It is near BAM and is a great pre-show dinner.

While in Brooklyn for a dance performance at BAM, I found this restaurant. The food was outstanding - especially the scallops which were the special for the evening. The waiter and staff were friendly and helpful. I would definitely go back.

Happy hour is ONLY at the bar, and the oyster happy hour is still expensive (especially since there are plenty of other spots where oyster happy hour means $1 oysters). I had the couscous with merguez sausage. It took a long time to get the happy hour glass of rosé (there were only four other people in the bar), and even longer for the couscous to come out. And when it did it lacked both heat and sausage... it tasted cold and bland and dry. I am a pretty forgiving person, but this was a sad couscous. On the upside, once I got the sausage, it changed everything. It was so delicious, I instantly ordered one more.

I selected this restaurant because I was attending a theatre performance in the BAM area. It is conveniently located and there are not that many sit down restaurants that take reservations in the area. It is a french restaurant and the staff seemed exclusively french. It is fairly small with a long bar. The long bar seemed a waste as they only serve beer and wine. Despite the staff being french, the staff was uniformly pleasant, helpful and competent. Unfortunately, the food was average at best. I had the duck and it was dry. My guest had the mussels and they were tiny. I will be more discriminating the next time I am around BAM.

Saw this restaurant was near the show we were attending and the menu had the French bistro fare I love. It is a small restaurant so it was a little bit of a tight squeeze for our 4 top. But it was a quick meal and it was so delicious. Excellent variety of easy French wines to drink. Our friends ordered the burgers, which always come out great at these little bistro places. I had the steamed mussels in garlic, wine and broth with shallots. A triumph. Mussels were done perfectly and not gritty or rubbery. I ate the whole pot. The pommes frites are homemade and very crispy, which I love. Great place if you are headed to BAM or Theater for a New Audience. They got us in and out on time, but not at the expense of the meal. Well done.

Absolutely great and authentic Parisian bistro in walking distance of BAM. Have now been there four times and never a miss. Atmosphere is everything you ever wanted in a Paris bistro minus the tude. Staff is friendly and really great without hovering. Perfect spot.

Went there on 6/8 pre-concert at BAM and could not have been more delightful. The food and service were first-rate, the portions more than adequateaand perfectly prepared as ordered and it felt like being transported back to Paris. Don't miss the creme brulee....heavenly. Have already recommended it to friends and would go back even if there was no need to be in the area. Thank you Cafe Paulette!

For a dinner pre BAM, this is a good option. The dining room is pleasant. The food is traditionally French, and well executed. The tables are cramped--but what is new? The service was just ok--they were pleasant and attentive to our time constraints. All in all, when there are few options near BAM, this is a good one.

Cafe Paulette is charming, on a corner across from Fort Greene Park
with large windows offering a view.

The soft reggae music set up a good vibe. The bistro interior was classicly French as was the wait staff, food and wine.

Additionally, the neighborhood ambience offered our group of old friends a memorable dining experience.

If the food weren't so darn delicious, I wouldn't have survived the evening. Patrons are packed in like sardines, and the noise level is overwhelming. But this kitchen has a general mastery of the meal, with the one exception being overcooked escargot. The fish was perfectly constructed, with a combination of flavors that made it outstanding and memorable. The service could use a bit more warmth, but was otherwise quite good, with never a glass empty. I'd recommend Cafe Paulette to anyone except those interested in a deep conversation. It'll be hard to have here.

I lived in this neighborhood and know this cafe well. The food is excellent and the ambiance is that of a French cafe. Our party was pleased with everything. We also had a BAM play to see and we were accommodated in every way.
Though I do not live in this neighborhood now, I will be back again.

We had a dinner a deux for Valentine's day in this hidden little jewel next to Fort Green Park. We were pleasantly surprised with this small bistro-type French restaurant. The ambiance was excellent, although a bit loud as the bar scene is very active. The service was excellent (in contrast to some of the past reviews). We started with the pate de campagne, which was tasty; I had a well prepared green salad. My wife had the steak au poivre which was a bit tough and lacked the typical French sauce, which usually accompanies it. The gratin was excellent. I had the filet mignon which was out of this world, the best I have had in a long time. The desert, pave au chocolat, was fine, nothing special. Overall, it was a nice experience and we will return.
