Cafe Panache, located in downtown Ramsey, NJ, has been a top-rated BYO and "culinary mecca" since it opened in 1985. For almost 30 years Chef Kevin Kohler has been tantalizing his clientele with signature dishes - House Made Filet Mignon Ravioli Truffle Butter and Crispy Roast Duckling in Port Wine Sauce. Kohler's menu changes almost daily with seasonal ingredients - producing specials like Lobster in Vanilla Sauce, Artichoke Lasagna, Panko-crusted Soft Shell Crab. The food was delicious and beautifully served. I was there with a friend. We chose 2 appetizers and a main course and said we would share the dishes. When each dish was served, the food had been divided onto 2 plates. We thought “how nice of them” and said thank you. Little did we know there would be a $7 charge for the service. That they charged for the service didn’t bother me. I guess it was the lack of mentioning it at any time during the evening that got to me. We had to see it on the bill to know it happened.

The food was good, but way overpriced. When I pay $40 for an entree and $17 for a salad, I expect the whole experience to be awesome. The bread tasted freezer-burned, the steak was extremely peppery, and the overall service left something to be desired. I think if you are a regular, like most people around us were, you get a bit more attention.

If my total meal cost $60, rather than $130, I would give it a much higher rating.

Although it was Valentines Weekend , and quite crowded, we were treated as though we were the only patrons in the restaurant. Absolutely fabulous experience!!
Mark the Maitre’ de took great care of us as did the rest of the staff . 5 stars!!!

Continues to be one of the best in New Jersey. Service was attentive without being overbearing. Menu was diverse but did not over do it and the prices for lunch and the quality were in a range of excellent value.

Nothing bad his way about this local favorite. Cafe Panache has the most professional staff around. Lunch today for our party of 6 was handled perfectly. A mix of salads, ravioli and specials featuring tuna and salmon provided the perfect balance for everyone. Guaranteed good food, professional service and a warm ambiance make this a perfect choice for any occasion.

Our experience at Cafe Panache was excellent, from greeting, to wait staff, to incredible meal, to perfect finish desserts! We were not rushed and really enjoyed savoring the delicacies of our meals. If fois gras and or calve's liver is one you enjoy, then its a must order! Remember to BYOB!

My husband and I went for dinner the other night for our 47th anniversary. We couldn’t have been happier. The ambience, the service and the food we’re off the charts perfect. We are already thinking of when we want to return back to this beautiful restaurant!

Our waiter was arrogant, rude and rushed us from the moment we sat down. ( We had a 5:30 reservation on a Sunday and we arrived early)!
The food was fresh but the sauces were over the top and ruined the flavor of a good steak au poivre. The filet mignon ravioli were terrible.
We have dined at Cafe Panache since they opened years ago and feel the food and character of this restaurant has deteriorated.
We will not be returning.

My husband and I had eaten at Cafe Panache in the past and had enjoyed the restaurant. On this particular evening we were dining with another couple. We had a 6pm reservation, the dinner moved along nicely and we were enjoying it up until the very end of our meal. At around 8:30 we had paid the check and were finishing up our wine and one remaining dessert on the table. The manager walked over to us and simply said "our next reservation is here". We were all stunned, we had never been to a restaurant where we were basically told to leave. We had a 6pm reservation, no where did it state it was a 6pm "seating" where we expected to have a firm time to end our dining. This left us with a poor taste in our mouths and we will not be returning.
