Cafe Normandie Ratings and Reviews
My wife and I had dinner there for our 36th anniversary. I contacted the restaurant and asked for a nice romantic booth. The manager responded back to me and assured me that she would take care of my request. We arrived on time and the table wasn't ready so my wife and I were given complimentary glasses of wine. The meal and ambiance was great. We enjoyed it so much that we are coming back in three weeks with our family! Great place!
We came for brunch and the food here was delicious and the service was good.
I kind the waffles, which I felt were a bit pricey based on the accompaniments, but very tasty!
My friend had the eggs benedict, which she said was delicious.
I would return to try out their dinner.
The meal was fine; however, the bill had hidden charges -- each of the drink orders were inflated where one became two, two became three or four. Thus, the overall bill was about $70 higher than it should have been. When we questioned the waiter, he quickly said he must have made a mistake. Suspicious!! We wondered whether he was trying to put something over on a lively group of six friends. Beware!
Always consistent in quality and taste, the Cafe is a joy to experience. An extensive menu becomes all the more memorable when everything on it lives up to expectations. The service is attentive and unobtrusive and the atmosphere is convivial. We have dined there for many years and have never had a bad experience.
Went with my sis for her 60th...lovely, relaxing afternoon. Felt we were welcome to linger as long as we wanted. Food was perfect, except for the fries...not so much! The pear martini was fabulous, as was our service! The location is right in the hub of downtown Annapolis...perfect!
Party of 6, at the round table. We had great food, very nice service... and delicious meals.
Jean-Louis, the chef and owner (always a good sign) worked really hard (with boat show season) to make sure all meals were on time and perfectly prepared
The wine also was very nice.
Excellent address in Annapolis!
Great food, our waitress was lovely. I advised of an onion allergy. I questioned onion content in the meal I ordered. The server checked The kitchen and came back and said there were no onions in the ma il. When the mail came to the table there were shallots in the sauce and the entire plate was garnished and chives. When I sent it back the mail that returned was a simply grilled breast of chicken. Had I known that I would’ve ordered something else.
Love this restaurant but last night, a Saturday, it got mixed reviews. The featured Provence Rose was very nice — and a good value. Our starter, Calamari Provençal, was well prepared and tasty. Entrees were trout and crab cakes. The trout was well prepared but not exceptional. The crab cakes, though, were extraordinary! All lump crab—stuck together mysteriously. Crispy, browned edges. Amazing taste. Just as good as could be. Missing though was our server. Too busy they said to serve the wine himself. Missing when we needed salt. Absent when he should have asked if everything was ok. Not around when he needed a water refill. But he showed up to toss the check on the table without a comment. No question about dessert or coffee. No thank you. Too busy, it seemed, to focus on diners . A 10% tip was we thought quite generous.
We were in town for the boat show. (There was also a Navy football game that day.) taking both into consideration, the restaurant did a good job keeping up with the demand. The appetizers were fantastic; the escargot tender and garlicky. The table next to us had the Brie and French onion soup; not a morsel left. My husband had the bouillabaisse and thought is was okay. I asked for the filet to be pepper crusted. The meat was very tender. I asked for medium rare and it came out rare; but very good.
We were first brought upstairs to a small, unattractive room even though we had elderly members of our group. We refused this table, asking for a round table downstairs. Told that was for 6, while we had 4 . Waitress was not familiar with the special menu, forgot our coffees, forgot to split the bill as we requested. We have dined here often over the years. Beef was tough, artichoke barely edible, crepe caramel tasteless. On leaving we noted the round table had 4 people seated. You have lost us!
