Our server must have been having a bad night, he wasn't very personable or attentive. In fact our dinner came before our wine and another staff member actually got us our wine. The Waiter brought the bread well into the meal. The other staff members that filled in were great. The food was first rate. I had halibut and my date had veggie pasta primavera. The presentation was nice and the taste was fabulous. The waiter seemed to be over extended, so perhaps it was managements fault. Only because the food was so good was I able to overlook the service.
The food was delicious, as always. We had a generous Spinach Salad. I had a Special - Halibut with Fresh Figs. Divine. My husband had beautiful Scallops on Tri-colored Linguine. Great.
It was a lovely Anniversary Dinner!
Café Normandie has consistently good food, service, ambiance, and, a great early bird special!
A very nice restaurant with authentic French food. Escargot and pate were excellent. Chef's special was a treat and enough to share after appetizers.
My date and I both enjoy good food and a great atmosphere and this place did not disappoint in either!
One of our favorite places! Extensive menu with great specials!
Our meal was delicious. Our service was great. We loved the roasted chicken and roasted duck. We highly recommend doing the early special from 5:00 to 6:30. It is an inclusive meal. We ordered appetizers, salad and pate and we recommend both. We finished with the caramel flan and cheese cake and again both were delicious. The early bird menu was $30 each and well worth it. We also liked the coziness of the restaurant---it was a cold and rainy night. They have a fire in the fire place which made our dinner even more special.
As usual the food was delicious. Love the trout and they were willing to substitute a house salad for the veggies.
This was a real "find" as I am not a local but do enjoy smaller places that emphasize making the food the "star". Chose Cafe Normandie as part of our "getaway" weekend. Trying to sneak into town between the end of the session and before the summer crowd, the thought of enjoying a good dining experience is what we hoped for, and were rewarded by. We shared appetizers and entrees and were not disappointed. The portabello mushroom with crab was a joint favorite. My companion was absolutely delighted by the veal as presented and my scallops were incredibly tender and flavorful. The accompanying sauces were light and kept the meals tasting fresh.
Initially, I wasn’t sure how our evening was going to turn out. We sat upstairs, which was private, but it was a warm evening and we had to have the windows open. At 6:30, Main Street was full of people and motorcycles. Lots of noise! Once it quieted down, we could at least hear each other some. Be forewarned: upstairs seating separates you only minimally from the downstairs bustle.
The food was excellent and plentiful (although I could do with a little less salt), and the service was cheerful but efficient. Emily did a great job with our table of 10. Everyone had a wonderful time!
Our favorite restaurant. Food and service always exceptional.
Super. Great food and drinks We feasted for 8 people for $50 pp including drinks tax tip for a big lunch. Just fabulous.
Haven’t been there is a long time - don’t know why!
Dinner was excellent. Lucked into early bird special. Servings were plentiful and delicious from pate, to duck to bread pudding.
Service well done.
Can’t wait to go again.
Wonderful..but not worth the money. The service was ok..not great..The calamari was greasy...The roasted chicken was exellent..
Always a pleasure to dine here. Thank you for the consistently good food and service.
With its warm ambient lighting , exposed beams ,large center fireplace, cozy eating coves, and the exceptionally friendly charming, personable and professional service provided by our waitress "KATE", Cafe Normandie rates amongst the highest dining experiences I've had yet. This is a great place for a date, a birthday a celebration or just a gathering of friends ...a very intimate setting with exceptional foods that excite the taste buds ..
If I were a professional reviewer I would rare this restaurant amongst the best kept secrets. Worthy of the trip from Bethesda MD
Excellent dinner - great drinks, trout, beef and cheesecake— absolutely fabulous French meal.
Totally satisfactory. Each and ever
Y time is
We went for Easter brunch. Service and food was mediocre. Would not recommend for the price and lack of decent food.
Very tasty, reliable & dependable service and food. I have never been disappointed.
My wife and decided to try Café Normandie on Easter. We had a wonderful breakfast. We sampled a few different items and they were all delicious and well prepared. The place was packed and the service was great. We would like to go back and order off the dinner menu.
Brunch is our favorite weekend activity. Café Normandie does it perfectly!
There were a few flaws but the food was great: we arrived a few minutes early for a 7p Saturday night reservations were immediately told it would be a few extra minutes and would be like a glass of wine.... turned out we weren’t seated for over 30 minutes!
Apparently they took a walk-in party of 8 or 10 who promised to be done by 7. They didn’t leave until well after 8!
Then it took the server a good 10 minutes to even make it to the table. Once the food arrived things got better. Veal Normandie and grilled scallops w roasted corn risotto were both on point
I own a B&B in town and I will recommend other places for now.... could have a bad decision in taking this large party
Wait staff got my guest’s order completely wrong. Bus staff brought our Brie appetizer out without baguette. Took far too long to get the check.
Ambiance is wonderful. Warm, rustic setting is perfect for a romantic meal. Staff was okay, not as attentive as one would expect, but informative regarding ingredients. Menu was extensive, food was prepared in an aesthetically pleasing way, but a couple of dishes lacked proper seasoning. Being this was our first visit, we will offer a do-over.
Cassoulet was amazing! Put it in the menu.
We had a very lovely dinner. The pistachio cheesecake was amazing!
Had another wonderful meal at Cafe Normandie after a long snow day at home. Fantastic food and a nice atmosphere. Great for a quiet evening date night.
Love the cozy French-country-inn atmosphere, excellent scallops Provençal, Maryland crab soup. Spinach mushroom crepe needed a little extra seasoning. Server was lovely, solicitous without being annoying. And really good house-made profiteroles (next rome I’m asking for extra chocolate sauce on the side).
All our appetizers and entrees were delicious! The Annapolis crepe while very tasty was skimpy on the seafood and mushrooms. A lot of gravy but little seafood. I was disappointed. The same could be said for the desert crepe... skimpy on the apples and caramel sauce.
Great meal & service. We’ll ask for a booth next time; the table next to us had some distracting conversation.
We were very lucky that it was a not so busy night. Our grilled bronzino was superior, and crepes, to die for.
Very good food but service was very bad. Our poor waiter had too many tables!
Great food every time, service a bit slow but manageable
Excellent gourmet dining with specialty food that most restaurants don’t offer. Food is excellent as is the service, and wine offerings. A little on the tight side and a bit noisy.
Third visit to CN. Becoming a local favorite. Kate, our server, was professional and charming. Made the evening more enjoyable for our entire group.
This is one of my favorite French restaurants. I was however disappointed in the wait staff. We were completely ignored in favor of an obvious frequent customer. When asked if the table they chose was good ( squeezed in next to another couple when many other tables were available) We suggested another next to the fire place, the waiter was clearly annoyed stating that he had to check first to see it was open -it was of course!
I loved the food, always top notch!
Went during restaurant week. Dinner for 4 on a Saturday night. I have not been there for dinner in many years although have been a fan of Sunday breakfast/brunch for years. Our drinks were great. Girls had a champagne cocktail (champagne and elderflower liquor). It was very nice. The guys had a gin martini and vodka martini. I have it on good authority that the gin martini was made exactly to specifications and the portion size was appropriately healthy.
We all ordered from the restaurant week menu. I had a goat cheese tart starter. I didn't pay close attention to the ingredients but it was quiche-like and had a round of goat cheese embedded. The cheese was soft and melty and it was so good I ate every bite even though it was a larger than I expected for a starter. It came with a small side salad that was excellent as well. My pork osso bucco was amazing. Portion was large and I couldn't eat it all after my goat cheese tart. I took it home and shared the remains for dinner the next day. Our servers were very attentive and not intrusive. Wonderful service, wonderful meal. Wonderful company.
Met friends here for breakfast. The food was excellent and everyone enjoyed their dishes. I had the seafood omelet and it was a good sized portion with plenty of seafood and a light lobster sauce (like a bisque). The garlic roasted potatoes were delicious and light on the garlic. Service was very attentive.
