Love the cozy French-country-inn atmosphere, excellent scallops Provençal, Maryland crab soup. Spinach mushroom crepe needed a little extra seasoning. Server was lovely, solicitous without being annoying. And really good house-made profiteroles (next rome I’m asking for extra chocolate sauce on the side).
All our appetizers and entrees were delicious! The Annapolis crepe while very tasty was skimpy on the seafood and mushrooms. A lot of gravy but little seafood. I was disappointed. The same could be said for the desert crepe... skimpy on the apples and caramel sauce.
Great meal & service. We’ll ask for a booth next time; the table next to us had some distracting conversation.
We were very lucky that it was a not so busy night. Our grilled bronzino was superior, and crepes, to die for.
Very good food but service was very bad. Our poor waiter had too many tables!
Great food every time, service a bit slow but manageable
Excellent gourmet dining with specialty food that most restaurants don’t offer. Food is excellent as is the service, and wine offerings. A little on the tight side and a bit noisy.
Third visit to CN. Becoming a local favorite. Kate, our server, was professional and charming. Made the evening more enjoyable for our entire group.
This is one of my favorite French restaurants. I was however disappointed in the wait staff. We were completely ignored in favor of an obvious frequent customer. When asked if the table they chose was good ( squeezed in next to another couple when many other tables were available) We suggested another next to the fire place, the waiter was clearly annoyed stating that he had to check first to see it was open -it was of course!
I loved the food, always top notch!
Went during restaurant week. Dinner for 4 on a Saturday night. I have not been there for dinner in many years although have been a fan of Sunday breakfast/brunch for years. Our drinks were great. Girls had a champagne cocktail (champagne and elderflower liquor). It was very nice. The guys had a gin martini and vodka martini. I have it on good authority that the gin martini was made exactly to specifications and the portion size was appropriately healthy.
We all ordered from the restaurant week menu. I had a goat cheese tart starter. I didn't pay close attention to the ingredients but it was quiche-like and had a round of goat cheese embedded. The cheese was soft and melty and it was so good I ate every bite even though it was a larger than I expected for a starter. It came with a small side salad that was excellent as well. My pork osso bucco was amazing. Portion was large and I couldn't eat it all after my goat cheese tart. I took it home and shared the remains for dinner the next day. Our servers were very attentive and not intrusive. Wonderful service, wonderful meal. Wonderful company.
Met friends here for breakfast. The food was excellent and everyone enjoyed their dishes. I had the seafood omelet and it was a good sized portion with plenty of seafood and a light lobster sauce (like a bisque). The garlic roasted potatoes were delicious and light on the garlic. Service was very attentive.
As authentic French as you could find in Maryland.
We had a nice dinner, but the restaurant needs more service staff to keep up at peak time.
Went for restaurant week. It was fine and we were given a very good table. Disappointingly, the croque madam does not come with egg and the creme brulee is actually a creme caramel. Was good value for restaurant week though.
Wonderful lunch for Restaurant Week with a girlfriend. Food and service beyond reproach. Trout Almondine was fantastic! While we didn't have the mussels, the table close to us did, and they looked incredible. BONUS: Mondays and Wednesday are 1/2 price Wine by the Bottle days...
We hadn't been to Cafe Normandie in many years, so we decided to visit during Annapolis Restaurant Week. We were seated in the "traffic flow" with many servers pushing back and forth behind my husband's chair. We were concerned that someone's food or drink was going to be dropped down his back, as there wasn't much "room" for anyone to move.
The cream of crab soup was great - very thick, with actual crab meat included, which can sometimes be rare in some restaurants. Entrees were adequate - my meat was satisfactory, but my potatoes tasted like leather - not appetizing at all! The shell on the small fruit tart offered for dessert was so hard to break apart that I had to put both hands on the fork to force it apart. Adequate meal, but we won't be in a hurry to get back.
Our server was very friendly and outgoing.
We went for lunch during Annapolis Restaurant Week. Café Normandy is certainly a draw on Main Street, and it's both cozy and well appointed. Unfortunately, I felt like our small table, which seemed to be right under the order station, seemed rather cramped. The Restaurant Week selections had the variety we were looking for, but seemed to be rather mass-produced in quality. There just didn't seem to be that personal touch that French restaurants often give to their servings that make each one seem unique. There was a lot to like about Café Normandy (really recommend the house wine selections) but I think in the future we'll stick to the seafood spots that Annapolis is famous for.
A dependably delicious French style restaurant. Large portions and always cooked to perfection.
Thank you for such a wonderful experience for four first timers at Cafe Normandie! We decided to do our monthly brunch meet up during Annapolis Restaurant Week. The selections for the lunch 3 course set was amazing and the price was perfect! We had a wonderful time eating and sampling the delicious French cuisine without breaking our banks. The cozy and warm ambiance was perfect for a cold rainy day. Would definitely recommend to try Cafe Normandie if you are interested in French cuisine. The baked brie was memorable!
Food was very good, but lacked the wow factory that would have reflected the price. Wait staff ok but not as outstanding as I have had for similar restaurants. Overall good experience. Fireplace was a nice touch!
My wife and I went there to celebrate our anniversary! It was the perfect place to do so! Our dinner was perfect, great staff, wonderful atmosphere!
Cafe Normandy an ANNAPOLIS favorite
Food was good. Service was inattentive and slow.
We were seated near the front. The valentine decorations were still up, which provided mood lighting. There was quite a delay in getting our drink orders filled, and various other parts of our meal came out very slowly, and not with the right accompaniments. For example, the Brie was a generous portion of hot, delicious cheese, but the food runner did not bring bread. When I was finally served my steaming hot French onion soup, it did not arrive with a spoon. Etc. So high marks for the food, but the service lacked the finesse that I have come to associate with Cafe Normandie.
Disappointing Valentine’s Day dinner. We were excited to be in Annapolis and about this restaurant from the reviews. However, we were not told about the Prix Fixe menu for that night which was a $95 dinner from a limited menu. I was looking forward to some items that were not available and was not happy with the available choices. Our first drinks took over 15 minutes to arrive, the tables were very close together and the noise level was too loud. I had the sea scallops which were good but bland and my wife had the halibut which was also bland and dry. The included chocolate dessert was good but the pana cotta was not. Overall it seemed like a mass produced evening that was too expensive.
Awesome . The service was excellent. The food was excellent.
Simply wonderful.....every time we go!
Excellent food and server very good too. Several nice small touches in terms of service and ambiance.
We had a great meal and service. We sat upstairs in the balcony area. candles on the table would have been nice. One bright light was annoying. Food and food choices were great.
This is one of our go-to places...Always great. Great food, great service!
outstanding service; warm and inviting atmosphere.
Super kudos to all the night of 2.9.18 XO
Very good but not the best French I’ve had.
Very nice restaurant with cozy ambience and spectacular French food. Had the Chateaubriand for 2, service was great, steak was deliciously tender and had a great, well balanced flavor.
You might consider having a section geared to quiet conversation and one for those who prefer louder conversation
The perfect restaurant for any reason, any time. We really enjoyed it!
Reserved table with window view was in walk in area and the cold air from opened doors definitely was minus to make this place cozy.
Our table was for four people I made reservarion for two! generaly all tables were for two.
The round table with bunch of noisy company was in front of us.
FOOD WAS OK LIKE ALWAYS.,
Please include on web site the plan with tables so it will be no complains.
We only went for lunch, but greatly enjoyed our meals.
We enjoyed a nice brunch before heading out to try on wedding dresses for my soon to be daughter in law. The staff made sure we had everything we needed, the food was served quickly and the atmosphere was outstanding.
What a wonderful gem in Annapolis. The menu is varied and unique. Care in both preparation and presentation. Old favorites as well as carefully crafted new combinations. The only quibble is the noise level. It was quite full on Saturday evening and, although there was soft music playing, the din drowned it out. Acoustic panels might help. But this by no means dampened the dining experience! The food is wonderful. Don't miss out and think that this is a stodgy place. It is not. All who appreciate good food at reasonable prices should try Cafe Normandie. Whereas maybe not a current "hip" place, the cuisine is excellent.
