Excellent atmosphere. The food was delicious and the service was outstanding. We will be back for sure!
Overall experience was great. Reservations were easy to book online. Alex, our server was attentive, welcoming and very friendly. Cocktails were well made and the food was presented well and tasted great. We will be returning here. This is a great place for a date or special occasion.
Delicious!! Classy!! Great service!! The Braised Beef was out of this world flavorful. I will return next time I’m in town. I was very impressed!
Excellent food, good wine, the server was a bit pushy
Great restaurant. Excellent food, friendly and competent service. A find
My overall experience at Cafe Navarre was good. The service was excellent. Our waitress was prompt and very polite. I ordered the French Onion soup and it was outstanding! My main course was the Flat Iron steak. The sides were tasty however the steak was over cooked and tough. I asked for the steak to cooked to medium but it was cooked to well done.
The only major issue were the restaurant’s bathrooms. Both the men and women bathrooms needed attention. The restrooms were in bad condition and required a good cleaning.
We been to Cafe Navarre for Sunday Brunch twice . The shrimp and grits the first time was very good. The second time I had steak and eggs and it was terrible. I asked for the steak medium rare and it came medium well. It was so tough I couldn’t eat it. The dog loves it! The wild mushroom soup is very good and would recommend it to others.
Beautiful restaurant! Our meal was amazing from appetizer to dessert and our server was fantastic! This was our first experience and loved it!!
Wonderful food
My friend and I were in from out of town celebrating our birthdays. We were early for our reservation and we were accommodated very well. The food was delicious, we enjoyed both our meals and our appetizer. The drinks, however, were a little disappointing. I don't remember what the drink special was i just know that the waiter said it was not recommended. I ordered an old fashion and asked that the bartender make a suggestion on the brand of whiskey. I do not like Jack Daniels, but since it was not on the whiskey list on the menu didn't think i needed to say no Jack, so i was very disappointed when that's what my drink was made out of. When out celebrating and making it known, the cheap whiskey is not something i would have gone for, nor did it show experience on the waiter/bartenders side. My friend got a dirty martini and she was happy with her drink but it was served in three different glasses, a martini glass, a giblet glass, and then a rocks glass.
All in all we enjoyed our time and will be back whenever we are in town, the atmosphere and food was amazing, the bar tending was highly disappointing.
Very nice
Waiter didn’t rush us.
The food and service we're excellent. We were visiting for an event and ate there for both a lunch and a dinner.
The food, service and ambiance were all WONDERFUL! Highly recommend!
Did not dine, felt uncomfortable with where we were seated
Excellent experience from start to finish!
Cannot wait to go back..
We found Cafe Navarre four years ago when our daughter started attending the University of Notre Dame. It has become our 'go to' restaurant when we're in South Bend. The setting of a restored bank building is beautiful. The lighting and architectural details are sophisticated yet fresh. We have enjoyed both the seating on the main floor and have used the private party room for a special birthday dinner. The bar seating is wonderful too. The menu is creative without being stuffy. Locally sourced ingredients add to the seasonal aspects of the menu throughout the year. We just celebrated Easter with our daughter, now a senior. We plan to return to Cafe Navarre even after she graduates from Notre Dame!
Service was unacceptably slow!
We enjoyed the Bloody Mary bar.
We really loved this restaurant for a long time. Delicious and creative. Not anymore. The last three dining experiences have left us sad, really. The service was just okay. The food was mediocre at best and definitely not worth the big bucks. Three strikes and we're out of there.
We had a reservation for 630 and told them we had a show next door at 8. We ordered our food by 645. The salads came immediately but the entrees did not arrive till 745--in time for a couple of bites and boxing them up. The servers were great but something obviously went wrong in the kitchen. They only charged us for the wine, which seemed fair.
I can honestly say I have never had a bad experience. This place is amazing with fresh food. The service has always been exceptional . Whether your looking for a romantic dinner or meeting friends or having a business dinner or lunch this is a place I highly recommend.
We were seated promptly and immediately met our evening server. That quality service continued through the night.
Four different food orders were properly prepared and presented. Excellent meals!
We enjoyed dessert before leaving for the theater.
Dinner before a Broadway Play at the Morris. Great experience with friends. A
Cafe Navarre was lovely. It has a quiet elegance where conversation is easy & the food is delicious. Our waiter was exceptional, attentive without hovering.
Salmon was awesome!!
Great food, service was excellent
My wifes Birthday dinner and we were using a Christmas gift card. I am not sure we would have gone if not for the gift card. Had a lovely evening. The srevice and food were fabulous.
Great experience . Look forward to returning.
Great! Good beer choices and solid menu!
We really like the new menu selections. Appetizers - grilled octopus and squid (octopus a little undercooked which was ok, but probably not for many) and special crab dip were excellent. The fish special and shrimp arrabbiata were also very tasty. Service was good, several large tables came in just after us, so our service slowed down a bit and server never poured a second glass of wine - we poured our own which is not customary for a restaurant of this caliber.
The low point was biting into the pork belly and having it COLD in the middle. The server had it remade and didn’t charge us but I was a bit grossed out by then. The second low point was the duck: when asked how I wanted it prepared I said “chef’s choice”. The duck confit was good but the breast was red and jiggly like cherry jello. It was better with more heat.
One of the finest dining places in South Bend. Warm atmosphere, delicious and creative cuisine. Great meeting place for cocktails.
I felt that cafe Navarre was good for price and food quality. The service though was spectacular and I would go again just for that. Our booth did give me a view into the kitchen which was not fantastic. The food was delicious. The wine that was on the menu was unavailable.
The steak my husband had a New York strip had no flavor other than the glaze.. it was not a good cut of meat. Our salad and French onion soup were the best things of our meal. I felt for the meal it was overpriced. I would give it a try again but was disappointed unfortunately.
EXCELLENT! Great Food and service. We will definitely return!
I've had three poor dinners in a row. I don't intend to eat dinner at your restaurant for at least one year or more depending on what some of my friends might report.
Baked oysters excellent, salad excellent, wine excellent, steak excellent, potatoes fine, green beans tough and inedible, martini was a disaster
First time we’ve had brunch here, and it was outstanding! Great food, huge Bloody Mary bar, and not too expensive
Mainly came to Cafe Navarre for drinks with a friend coming from out of town. The ambiance was great- very cosmopolitan. Drinks seemed to be fairly priced. Ordered the oysters, and they were phenomenal. Spent $40 on a steak that was okay. Wasn't terrible, but not to die for. Friend had a salad, which to my knowledge, was satisfactory. The service was very friendly and attentive. We didn't sit at the bar, though it was big and pretty impressive.
Overall, if you're looking for a cool night scene for drinks and are willing to spend upwards of $10 for each round, this is a cool spot to hit.
Valentine’s Day dinner. It was awesome as always!
