   We had a wonderful evening. Our waitress’s name was Jody and she was outstanding! The food was perfect. We had a shrimp appetizer which had an amazing purée on the bottom. We both had fish dishes and they were perfect. We also were fortunate to be seated in the corner by the window in the bar area Cafe Navarre is one of our favorite places in South Bend! 5 star

    Cafe Navarre is one of the best fancy restaurants in South Bend. I’ve been there a few times now for different occasions (birthdays, meetings, anniversaries, etc), and it works for all of them. The atmosphere is perfectly appropriate, with dimmer lighting, quieter music, and elegant decorations. The food is fabulous, and I cannot help but order every course of the meal from salad to dessert. Haven’t tried anything I don’t like- it’s all shockingly delicious!

    Dinner before church tonight … we had to come in for the deals on the last day of restaurant week. ❤️ everything was amazing as expected to be. The crème brûlée was sold out yesterday but they made fresh batches for today! AJ our waiter was top notch! Very pleasant, very professional and attentive. What a lovely dining experience!

    I had been wanting to try Cafe Navarre for some time; the menu looked interesting and the dining room is very pretty. Restaurant week created a great opportunity, and I looked forward to the evening. Knowing that high ceilings and hard surfaces create excessive ambient noise that make conversation difficult - my dining partner has a hearing difficulty - I made a reservation a week in advance and asked for a table next to a wall. I explicitly stated in the Open Table notes that one person in my party has trouble hearing and that being seated next to a wall helps to mitigate the issue. We arrived five minutes early for our reservation and were seated in the middle of the room very near the kitchen. When I asked the hostess if we could take the booth next to our table, vacant but not yet cleared, she said that unfortunately there were no booths available but she’d be happy to move us if one opened. Rather than explain my companion’s disability in the middle of a crowded dining room, I took her at her word. Another booth opened next to us a few minutes later. The first one was given to a young couple that she appeared to know, and the second to another couple. It was impossible for us to carry on a conversation with the noise in the room and the constant parade of unhappy looking wait staff moving in and out of the kitchen. I understand that a restaurant cannot honor all requests and that it was a busy Saturday night. Nevertheless, this disability related request was made well in advance and could easily have been accommodated. I really wanted to love this restaurant, but we won’t be back.

    Food and drink were very good. The restaurant was busy but the quality was maintained. Our server was excellent. He was vigilant and served each course as we completed the previous one, yet we did not feel that we were pressured. We will certainly return to Cafe Navarre.

    We dined at Cafe Navarre last evening for the first time. We were celebrating our son-in-law's birthday. We were a party of six and our server was Jordan. We had a wonderful dining experience. The food was wonderful, the steaks were cooked exactly as requested, and Jordan's service was just outstanding. When we arrived, there was already a birthday card at our table for our son-in-law. Jordan never hovered over us but was always there when we were ready to change courses or a wine glass needed refilling. My husband ordered a bottle of wine for our table, and one item he commented on was that he appreciated the fact that when Jordan delivered the wine, he, of course, poured a small amount for my husband to taste, but he did not pour a full serving of wine for my husband as he noticed that he already had a manhattan he was working on. When my husband finished his cocktail, Jordan was right there to pour a glass of wine for him. We moved to Indiana from Chicago to be closer to family. We have never had a better dining experience than last evening. We currently live in Carmel, but we will be making more trips to South Bend to enjoy the service, ambiance, and fine food at Cafe Navarre. Thank you, Jordan, for a wonderful evening.

    Awesome service! This was our first time here. The building so SO cool and there is nothing like it in the area. Menu was full of too many good options. I got the Amish Chicken and my husband got the filet, both were good perfectly and the sauce with the dishes were to die for! Also, very good wine selection.

    We had a nice quiet table in the loft that over looked the large dining room. The food was enjoyed by everyone in our party of four and we had the nicest waitress (Morgan). It was a great way to celebrate a birthday!

    First visit to Cafe Navarre with out of town foodies and we were all very satisfied. Great ambience and service as expected for a high end restaurant. Appetizers were good with mussels being excellent and calamari too rubbery. Main courses were better. Ladies both had the striped bass and loved it. Pork chop was huge and cooked perfectly with mashed potatoes subbed in without issue. My grilled shrimp on bed of risotto with sun dried tomatoes and pine nuts was exceptional. Apple berry crisp and tiramisu cheesecake were both top notch. Rather pricey but a great special event kind of place. Fine dining in South Bend.👍

    We went for dinner for my husband‘s birthday. We had the mussels as an appetizer, which were delicious! There were three of us, and we each ordered a different entrée. The braised shortrib was absolutely dynamite, the half chicken, and the bolognese were also fabulous! Highly recommend this restaurant ⭐️
