At the heart of Cafe Muse is our belief in natural cuisine. We've created a simple, European-style menu that features as many fresh, locally produced and organic ingredients as possible.

We've just received the 2011 Spectator Award of Excellence for our wine list. We've also been featured in Esquire Magazine and on The Oprah Winfrey Show.

Restaurant was empty at times only waiter would go in back and it was eerily quiet. Food good not great. Wine good.

It was surprisingly quiet for a Friday night in Royal Oak. I would've expected faster service since there were a total of 5 people.
Food was great, nice people and I appreciated the fact that it was quiet enough you didn't have to shout to be heard. Which is typical Friday night after 7:30.

Excellent food and service tonight at our old favorite, Cafe Muse. Had the shrimp and grits which were outstanding. Great place to catch up with a friend.

I have eaten at Cafe Muse many times for lunch. . . always delicious. Good atmosphere, friendly staff, and great food. Going by that, I took 3 people there for dinner Fri. night. We arrived at 6:45, most tables were empty. . . that should have been a red flag. My drink was poor, as was someone else at our table. The bartender didn't know what she/he was doing. My friend's pasta was overcooked and "gummy". I ordered a burger "medium with no bacon". It came well done, with lots of bacon. Really disappointing and I was embarrassed in front of my friends.
I may come for lunch, but never again for dinner.

Not sure if it was a bad night because it was our first time there. There was only 4 tables of people there on a Friday night. Service was slow. Watched a couple sit at the bar for quite a while and no one came to wait on them so they left. I would've too. The food was ok but not great. Way over priced for the quality. Will not be returning

Arrived promptly and greeted by a hectic staff person. We were seated and provided menus and waters. We were a group of two and there was one other group of two already seated. Several minutes later our server arrived and asked for our drink orders. I deferred asking for time to peruse the wine list. That was a mistake. After a lengthy wait the server returned and took our drink orders only to disappear again for several more minutes. Upon return to take our food orders without my wine I reminded that I was waiting for wine. The server apologized and stated they were dealing with a problem with their reservation system (Open Table?) and they were busy with that issue. Of course that was troubling to hear since they were dealing with a back house problem at the expense of present customers. The food was delivered all at once even though we asked for pre-entree salads. The salad with apple and vinaigrette was inedible due to the high vinegar content in the dressing. The entree itself was a grilled cheese and short rib meat sandwich which was good if a bit soggy. We were not asked if we wanted a second glass of wine until after we had eaten dinner. Of course we declined a second glass and dessert and asked for the check. This was another one of those mysteries of a restaurant with high reviews failing to deliver. This was especially puzzling since there were only four patrons in the restaurant. All in all a bad experience.

I'm not really sure exactly what happened with this place tonight, but "off" is not an adequate description of what this night was....

Where to start?

1) They were out of the only dish I really wanted;
2) Slow doesn't begin to describe the service. We waited over an hour for our food, and this was after waiting 20 minutes for our drinks;
3) The food, while good, wasn't quite as described. It was tasty though - no complaints;
4) Our waitress seemed quite uninterested in actually serving. She seemed stressed out and very distracted

The most remarkable thing is, they weren't busy in the least. The place was half empty. I think I'm done with Cafe Muse until something changes. For $70, I expect better service.

Wanted to like it. Lunch and brunch are great. Dinner was very mediocre. Out of mist draft beers and bourbons. Food was painfully slow and just ok. We will stick to brunch
