Cool, sophisticated restaurant with attentive service and delicious authentic Italian dishes. Real risotto Milanese, delicate fish dishes and great Sicilian caponata and arancini to start. Good Italian wines by the carafe and by the glass.

Wonderful Saturday lunch. Booked seating at the counter, which was a bit different but a good experience.

Cafe Murano never disappoints. Delicious, unfussy food - but special too - knowledgeable and charming staff and a gem of an interior - buzzy and cosy, but somehow intimate too (not too noisy). Love it!

We have been to Cafe Murano a few times. We love it there - ambience great, service generally excellent and very thoughtful. Food elegant, straightforward northern Italian.
This time there was a feeling of being understaffed. Took some time to get food, there was a lack of grip to the service and sadly it affected the food which arrived barely warm. Disappointing.

Good location just off Piccadilly and a lively atmosphere on Saturday evening.
Food is good not great - filling pasta dishes with ok flavours. Puddings were disappointingly unimaginative. It's expensive - as you would expect in that area - and the average quality of the food left us feeling it's a bit overpriced. But it's worth a try.

I like the lively casual atmosphere that is unusual for that area. Its still great for business butr it is not too formal so you can enjoy it for either business or social. The food is simple but very good and the menu has a diverse choice rather than being very specific to meats and fish dishes. As a vegetarian I appreciate that diverse choice.

I love Murano and have been a few times before. Their set menu option is very reasonable, so no issue with price. A la carte has good variety. I was a disappointed with the chard and ricotta tart.

I was really looking forward to the meal given its reputation and the appealing menus, and it was for a special occasion.

Some parts were excellent, like the pumpkin ravioli and bread. However the chicken cacciatore was quite disappointing, and the almond cake inedible. We explained the latter to the staff, who were very polite, but having consulted the chef said it's authentic and exactly as it should be. That may be true, but it was still distinctly unpleasant.

We were offered alternative desserts but we had a show to go to.

Nice staff, nice room, some lovely food, but disappointing and I wouldn't recommend it given the options in the west end.

The prix fixe menu at lunch time is still a fantastic value ( even with a bottle of wine). Great fresh tasting original food. A favourite

As a regular visitor to Cafe Murano in St James' I was disappointed with lunch on my most recent visit. We ate from the fixed price menu. The pumpkin soup was almost inedible as it was so salty. The staff reacted well to our comments and gave us fresh soups but these were still pretty salty. The tortellini with Bolognese sauce was also disappointing as it was very bland. To add to all this we were seated in the eye of a a noise tsunami - we could hardly hear each other over the table at one point. Not good.

Very good food and wine. Waiter was very knowledgable regarding the wine and was extremely friendly.
M y only criticism is the noise level but that is because I am miserable old sod. I would definitely visit again.

Ever reliable, Cafe Murano St James has established itself as a proper grown-up restaurant for grown-ups. Great food and, for the area, great value. The 'signature' Osso Buco with Risotto Milanese is back for autumn - one of my all-time favourite dishes anywhere. The flawless execution, warm service and general air of calm professionalism always impress.

We had a reservation for dinner at 7pm on a Saturday night . The restaurant is conveniently located near our hotel, DUKES in Mayfair. It was recommended by the hotel. we arrived promptly at 7 on a rainy evening to be greeted by a pretentious maitre'd , with a phony Italian accent.
The restaurant was about 1/2 full, at best.
They took our raincoats and umbrellas and then proceeded to try and seat us at a tiny table that could barely accommodate 1 person right next to the coatcheck area. We are always well dressed but perhaps he thought we had just fallen off the turnip truck. At first I thought he was kidding. I told him there was no way were sitting there. After a few minutes they "found" us another table from 1/2 the tables that were still empty.
The table service was ok but not very warm and friendly and the food was good but nothing to write home about. If you want exceptional food and service in that vicinity, I would highly recommend LeCaprice, located a 5 minute walk .

One of my favourite restaurants in London, definitely my favourite Italian. Have been a regular for years and the food and service has remained excellent and consistent. They almost always achieve the delicate balance of creating a special elegant atmosphere that is also friendly and welcoming.

Cafe Murano is a stylish restaurant with a bust bar area and a couple of different seated areas (you can also eat at the bar). The service is friendly and relaxed, which is unusual in St. James. There is usually a set menu of the day which is good value (I think they offer it between 5.30pm and 7.30pm, but do check). When I went it was from the area around Bologna so a ragu was an obvious choice for main course, and I started with a gorgeous autumnal soup. Dessert for me was a local cheese with hazelnut bread and mustard jelly. All beautifully cooked and presented. It does get busy quite quickly so book ahead.

Fabulous meal. A quick supper before the cinema. Service was excellent. Our waiter was very efficient, friendly, fun and just spot on. Food was fab - particularly salt cod croquettes and the amazing chocolate and hazelnut tart. Chic but cosy feel. First time there and will def go back. Highly recommend!

Liked the ambiance of the restaurant. It was nice and relaxing. The service was very good and friendly.
The wine was perfect! We had the octupus and the ricotta as a starter. Both very nice starters. For the main course we had the risotto and the malfatti. If you have the primi as a main course, it was recommended to order to the big portions, however, these were too big, if you already have a starter.
Overall would recommend this restaurant because we had a good relaxing evening.

Pretty average. Terrible table at the front, despite better tables further back. Felt dirty and unkempt with a lot less atmosphere than in previous visits. Servers kept forgetting water for the table and very slow to take drinks orders in general. Food was ok. Perfectly well cooked, but menu limited and dull.

My friend and I went to Caffe Murano for our once a year dinner and liked the relaxed atmosphere. Staff were very pleasant. My friend had the hake with nduja, which she said was delicious, and I had the plaice with girolles. I couldn't eat any more but friend had the chocolate tart which was rich but not heavy and that was a success. We both enjoyed the Angela Hartnett Toscano Rosso and found the carafe just enough. Coffee was excellent.
