Cafe Mozart Ratings and Reviews
We went for Thanksgiving. I found out they had halibut on Thanksgiving and that is my favorite meal. OMG! This dinner was the best meal I have had in 63 years. We have traveled and we are foodies. The halibut Thanksgiving dinner was beyond amazing. I dream about that meal. I am going to call the restaurant and see if they can do this same meal for my husband's birthday on the 14th of Dec.
This is a charming restaurant with entertainment to boot. I do not especially care for German food so the Sauerbraten that I ordered was dry and tasteless save for the brown gravy that it was smothered in. My wife had Schnitzel which she said was soggy rather than crisp. The beer was delicious as was the baked brie we had as an appetizer. I also enjoyed the strudel. If I do return, I will have something other than German cuisine.
We like the formality of tablecloths, linen napkins etc., and the attentiveness of the waiter without being overbearing. It was my husband’s birthday and he thought the evening was extra special with excellent stroganoff, quiet ,love songs, and pleasant ambience. Thank you!
Food was excellent as the chef took pride in what he did. I had the halibut special and it was great. Did not like that they opened the wine bottle in the kitchen prior to bringing to me. Also, the lighting was very bright and sterile with killed the ambiance but the classical music helped.
This was such an incredibly delicious dinner and we really enjoyed the atmosphere and especially the authenticity of the menu and the quality of the food! We got married here over 30 years ago and we came back a couple years ago for Christmas Eve dinner which was the BEST holiday dinner ever!!! We LOVE this place and we will enjoy it regularly from here forward. I highly recommend this restaurant especially if you have family or friends in town, take them here. Its very reasonably priced as well, it was a perfect evening! I will be back twice a month because I want to order every item on the menu! I had the Jaeger Schnitzel with mushrooms, red cabbage and spetzle noodles, my friend had the filet mignon and everyone else ordered the Beef Stroganoff, it was all incredible!
Wonderful German Cuisine in a very quaint setting. Everything was wonderful. We had the sauerbraten and the mixed grill (bratwurst & pork schnitzel) Everything is served with red cabbage and either spaetzle or potatoes au gratin. I know of no other place like it in So Orange County
We had a brand new server who clearly had not had enough training. The restaurant was relatively empty and there were other servers there doing very little. I felt sorry for the server however it was annoying waiting and waiting and waiting to be served.
My daughter and I had a wonderful experience at Café Mozart. The chef, who is from Austria, came out an spoke with my daughter who would be traveling to Austria soon with her school choir. The food and service were all excellent. We also had a nice talk with our waitress, Carla. We will definitely be going back soon I hope!
We hadn't visited this neighborhood restaurant in over 20 years. We were pleasantly surprised at the homemade quality of the German food on the menu. My husband ordered the Beef Wellington and enjoyed the liver pate and pastry, but felt a higher level of beef should have been used. The Russian piano/accordion player was a real treat to enjoy conversation with and linger over our dinners. Highly recommend this restaurant and we keep scratching out head as to why it wasn't packed on a Friday night.
My husband and I had taken our parents to Cafe Mozart as a belated Christmas present. We were hoping for a nice, quiet brunch and instead we had to share a room with some kind of Shower. We also had to share our server with the shower as well. Our server was nice, but over worked and it took forever to get our soup, then forever to get our food (which was barely warm). I am a cook, and for what we received it was over priced and very average. We were disappointed and
wished we had chosen some where else to celebrate.
Loved it. It was raining pretty hard so we were really the only ones in the restraunt but the ambiance was great the mood was perfect. The food tasted just like my grandma made me as a kid. Authentic german food for sure. Very homey food
Cafe Mozart is in an attractive little center with easy parking. It was quieter than expected with only three tables being used when we arrived at 7:00. A couple of other tables had been cleared but not reset so there were other diners who arrived earlier. The restaurant was neat and clean and the food was excellent. My wife and I are small eaters so we each had a salad and split the main course which was plenty of food. All in all, we enjoyed it but will not include it in our normal rotation of restaurants. We may go again for a special occasion when one comes up.
The chef is Austrian, so expect some traditional (delicious) items.
There should be something to please most palates. Menu is diverse.
Service was warm and efficient.
Decor, European elegance.
Fabulous desserts. There ares few places remaining like this one in south OC.
It really deserves a try. I know we will be returning and sharing the place with friends.
It was a mini vacations. Kudos.
Quiet, a bit hidden away, but worth finding. Food was excellent, and the choices are not what you will find everywhere - Beef Wellington, schnitzel, venison, escargot. Service was very attentive but server forgot my appetizer until the main course arrived. We had a strudel desert that was excellent.
While the restaurant was almost full, it was very quiet even with a live pianist. My wife estimated the average age of the patrons at 60 - Old World dining for sure.
Cafe Mozart is a good choice if you're looking for a white-tablecloth kind of place for quiet conversation and food choices that you can't find everywhere.
We arrived for late lunch Saturday. It was our first visit to this place. Saw no customers, one server and one helper on duty. Asked the waiter what is good and what he recommends, got an obnoxious response of "eat whatever you want everything is good". As we tried to engage him further to find out interesting menu items we got similar response. We gave up, ordered something and left very disappointed with service.
This was my first time at this restaurant and I'd absolutely recommend it. I read the reviews about spotty service, but have to say I was very happy with the young man who waited on us. The food was excellent, staff was attentive and it was overall a great experience.
Awful. The table service was sub-par with poor follow up on our orders. Appetizers we're ordered but only half came out on time...the remainder inexplicably came out with the main courses. Almost everything came out cold and tasteless. Sure it was a busy pre-holiday night, but this place has been at this for years. The absence of quality control in the kitchen was never more evident than we experienced here. Message to the Chef....try tasting this stuff!
Our server was somewhat confrontational and argumentative. He acted like a know it all, not only with us, but also with another guest near our table. He may think he knows all about wine & food pairings but don't argue with the guest if they think otherwise!
Our meals were very good.
We had only a single person interface with CM staff. The young man provoked negative remarks from most of us. Arrogant and dictatorial in responding to our concerns; we must sit outside! (wouldn't discuss it-one of our group had recent skin surgery and requested inside out of sun.) Rushed us to order just as we were seated getting reacquainted; he made repeated comments about the need for fast pace-had to secure the patio area. After being admonished by the group, his attitude improved. Our worst experience among a dozen meals at CM.
We celebrated two birthdays on a week night and had a lovely table outside with the pretty lights in view. The dinners were delicious (we had the halibut special) and the server was very personable. But the restaurant was really empty with only one other table occupied. Don't know if this is typical. The waitress said it wasn't. It certainly deserves having more people to choose it.
