Celebrated my birthday. Excellent food. Enjoyed the piano player. Cozy restaurant.
Overpriced. Food was lacking in taste and presentation.
Came with good friends for some good food which we had. Wine was good as well. Our waitress was very nice and accommodating for my gluten sensitivity. We enjoyed the piano music and a nice evening together. We ordered the special catch of halibut, the schnitzel with spätzle, scallops and the chicken wellington. Each one was delicious! We would recommend Café Mozart. Additionally , two years ago we hosted our son and daughter-in-laws rehearsal dinner there. Café Mozart made it a perfect evening even though it was pouring rain outside, they fit us all in to the bigger room off to the side. 70 of us had a very good time and it was a success thanks to all the detail that Café Mozart staff paid attention to. I'd highly recommend them as well for any special occasion you may have.
Hadn't been to Cafe Mozart for awhile, but it was everything it was advertised. The service was friendly and professional. The food was just outstanding in every way. It made for an extraordinary Valentine's Day date.
My husband and I celebrated Valentine’s Day here.
The food and service was good. I was just disappointed with the price and they had a special menu that they failed to disclose in their website. I previewed their website before I made the reservation. I was shocked when we arrived to see the price was doubled. They doubled the price which was not acceptable. The ambiance was not great either. It’s not a romantic place to celebrate a couples special occasion, it’s good for group not for couples. If I knew that they will double the price, we would of gone some where else.
Hadn’t been there for many years, dined there for Valentines Day and there were a lot of options on the prefixe menu. Great ambiance in a world of many loud restaurants so in favor these days. Will return soon!
It was our Anniversary and we wanted to try something different. We were so glad to experience Cafe Mozart!
We made a reservation on open table before driving to the restaurant. We arrived 10 minutes early and were told that they hadn’t seen our reservation yet and they wrote down our name - and we were asked to come back 20 minutes later. We did and it took another 15 minutes to be seated. Clearly the restaurant was understaffed as it looked like there were some open tables . The restaurant lighting was also bright - way too bright!!!
On the positive side, the service was attentive once we were seated, the piano player was great, and apple strudel dessert was yummy.
They were understaffed that night. But the help did their best to accommodate. Food was excellent, some of the best lamb I have ever had. Wine least is weak but acceptable. Might have handled the understaffed situation better as people arrived but our waitress was working hard and was nice, as I noticed the others working hard under the circumstances. I think this was just a rare issue with understaffed and slammed. Would come back. Had not been for maybe 20 years even though lived in the area the whole time. Will definitely come back. Will bring my own corkage though.
Food , service and atmosphere are terrific. The menu is wonderful. I had the Wienerschnitzel. The only other restaurant I know that serves such a great Wienerschnitzel is in Vienna. It was a superb dining experience. The piano player provided just the right music!
The waiter worked really hard but the kitchen was REALLY slow also there was not Not enough help.
This is my second time with Cafe Mozart. We came to celebrate our anniversary. I love the live piano playing most! The restaurant is a little bit old fashioned but that’s what I like about it. We ordered duck liver, escargot and beef Wellington. Those were great! I’ll definitely recommend it and come back.
Cafe Mozart has a cozy atmosphere for dinner with friends. The piano playing provided a great atmosphere for our dinner and allowed for comfortable conversation. The food was authentic and the chef tended to our requests excellently. We will definitely visit Cafe Mozart again for lunch or dinner.
Solid rendering of classic German and Continental dishes. Excellent choice of German beers. The live piano playing of evergreen standards adds to the enjoyable dinner.
Great spot with Austrian food , walking distance from the Mission. outdoor dining is available in a courtyard setting set off from the the street. Delightful food, great beer selection , and desercs are not to be missed.
We were there for lunch, and the schnitzel sandwich and salad from the lunch menu were both simply prepared but outstanding. Save room for dessert . Recommended!
The enclosed picture is looking away from the restaurant towards the courtyard as seen from their outdoor seating area.
A lovely place for lunch. Excellent bread pudding.
Nick was an excellent server. The gourmet meal is always delicious. I will always be a repeated customer.
What a wonderful find! Have lived in area for 3 years and our first visit to restaurant was absolutely delightful. Great service, expertly prepared food, nice ambiance and able to have a conversation without huge noise. There was a piano player who played great dinner music at just the right volume and it sure enhanced the dining experience. Don't miss this hidden gem!! Definitely go back
The breast of duck was outstanding. The soup and salads very good. The accompanying red cabbage and spatzel portions were a bit skimpy. The service was attentive and the piano music was an appropriate touch for a Christmas dinner. I wasn't pleased at the increase in prices for this date but I guess it is to be expected as there are few good restaurants open on Christmas day.
This is a wonderful restaurant. We love the German food especially but everthing is very good. We highly recommend it.
Always great food & friendly service!
This is one of the few restaurants that offer beef and chicken wellington and it's delicious. The pastry is cooked to perfection. The soups are wonderful too, plus the desserts.
Piano player provides an enjoyable evening dinning.
We went for Thanksgiving. I found out they had halibut on Thanksgiving and that is my favorite meal. OMG! This dinner was the best meal I have had in 63 years. We have traveled and we are foodies. The halibut Thanksgiving dinner was beyond amazing. I dream about that meal. I am going to call the restaurant and see if they can do this same meal for my husband's birthday on the 14th of Dec.
This is our second time here and again the food and service is fantastic. we'll definitely be back.
This is a charming restaurant with entertainment to boot. I do not especially care for German food so the Sauerbraten that I ordered was dry and tasteless save for the brown gravy that it was smothered in. My wife had Schnitzel which she said was soggy rather than crisp. The beer was delicious as was the baked brie we had as an appetizer. I also enjoyed the strudel. If I do return, I will have something other than German cuisine.
We like the formality of tablecloths, linen napkins etc., and the attentiveness of the waiter without being overbearing. It was my husband’s birthday and he thought the evening was extra special with excellent stroganoff, quiet ,love songs, and pleasant ambience. Thank you!
Food was excellent as the chef took pride in what he did. I had the halibut special and it was great. Did not like that they opened the wine bottle in the kitchen prior to bringing to me. Also, the lighting was very bright and sterile with killed the ambiance but the classical music helped.
The Wiener Schnitzel tasted like in Austria. I‘m impressed! And the desserts were amazing!
This was such an incredibly delicious dinner and we really enjoyed the atmosphere and especially the authenticity of the menu and the quality of the food! We got married here over 30 years ago and we came back a couple years ago for Christmas Eve dinner which was the BEST holiday dinner ever!!! We LOVE this place and we will enjoy it regularly from here forward. I highly recommend this restaurant especially if you have family or friends in town, take them here. Its very reasonably priced as well, it was a perfect evening! I will be back twice a month because I want to order every item on the menu! I had the Jaeger Schnitzel with mushrooms, red cabbage and spetzle noodles, my friend had the filet mignon and everyone else ordered the Beef Stroganoff, it was all incredible!
Wonderful German food! Hard to find in OC. Sauerbraten was excellent. Restaurant was empty on a Saturday night at 7:30? Worth a visit if you like authentic German cuisine. Service was very attentive. We will definitely return.
Piano too loud and long. Play softer for background music and do 2 to 3 pieces And take a break.
Wonderful German Cuisine in a very quaint setting. Everything was wonderful. We had the sauerbraten and the mixed grill (bratwurst & pork schnitzel) Everything is served with red cabbage and either spaetzle or potatoes au gratin. I know of no other place like it in So Orange County
We had a brand new server who clearly had not had enough training. The restaurant was relatively empty and there were other servers there doing very little. I felt sorry for the server however it was annoying waiting and waiting and waiting to be served.
My daughter and I had a wonderful experience at Café Mozart. The chef, who is from Austria, came out an spoke with my daughter who would be traveling to Austria soon with her school choir. The food and service were all excellent. We also had a nice talk with our waitress, Carla. We will definitely be going back soon I hope!
We hadn't visited this neighborhood restaurant in over 20 years. We were pleasantly surprised at the homemade quality of the German food on the menu. My husband ordered the Beef Wellington and enjoyed the liver pate and pastry, but felt a higher level of beef should have been used. The Russian piano/accordion player was a real treat to enjoy conversation with and linger over our dinners. Highly recommend this restaurant and we keep scratching out head as to why it wasn't packed on a Friday night.
The entire night there was only one other couple. 4 people in an hour. Too quiet. Needs energy and a menu ingredient change.
More fun as a beer garden ala Octoberfest!
We had a wonderful Easter lunch there with the family. The staff were exceptional. Very accommodating for our 3 year old. We will be back.
If you like German food, this is the place to go. Service was great & it was cozy.
My husband and I had taken our parents to Cafe Mozart as a belated Christmas present. We were hoping for a nice, quiet brunch and instead we had to share a room with some kind of Shower. We also had to share our server with the shower as well. Our server was nice, but over worked and it took forever to get our soup, then forever to get our food (which was barely warm). I am a cook, and for what we received it was over priced and very average. We were disappointed and
wished we had chosen some where else to celebrate.
