Cafe Monte Ratings and Reviews
Cafe Monte is a go to spot for us. We enjoy the casual atmosphere and the solid cuisine. This visit was on a Friday evening when they have live music. It really adds to the ambiance. We started with a beet salad. I had the mussels which are always terrific. My wife had the French Onion soup which was good, but the portion size has shrunk. It was slightly larger than thimble. The service and timing was good. We were never rushed, and had time to enjoy our cocktails before ordering. We will return and recommend the restaurant.
Valentine’s dinner. Early reservation as restaurant was booked at preferred time. Lisa was our server to our delight as she is the best! Restaurant seemed to purposely preserve space between parties to ensure privacy which we believe was very considerate and well thought-out. Lisa never rushed us but checked on us periodically. Another delightful dinner at Cafe Monte!
Great experience, as usual. We're regulars and have had only one time where there was an issue with the food. This trip was on Valentine's Day, so it was busy and a little noisy, but we expected it to be so. Food was good and service the same. Looking forward to our next visit.
The food was fabulous! The Mussels and Frites were yummy! Everyone loved their food - it was a party of 5 - all were pleased! The Wild Mushroom Crepe with Madeira Creame is nothing short of amazing. The menu is pretty mainstream French. The price points are very good. Also, I’ve done several wine dinners here and they were great! Overall a very good value. We’ll be back again and again.
We specifically came for the lobster dinner, which is a special on Friday. The meal and service did not disappoint. The lobster was served with fries and a generous serving of asparagus. We requested fingerling potatoes instead. The staff was warm, accommodating, and professional.
The lobster was sweet, fresh, and delicious. I definitely could have eaten another 1.5 pound lobster! So, I'm sure we will head back on a Friday in the near future. Prices are fair, and this special is a good value.
There is a case of desserts by the bar. It never looks very full or as appetizing as it should. I love French pastries. We would have ordered dessert, if there were more options, and they were displayed in a more enticing way.
Cafe Monte is a favorite with locals for brunch, lunch, and dinner. The food and service are consistently good. The restaurant can get noisy. So, be prepared for a lively dining experience.
The food was fantastic and the atmosphere was cozy. The whole restaurant had a French bistro feel to it.
It was very busy on the day we went and the reservation was not ready until 15 minutes after the reservation time. Service was decent and I can imagine it would be better if it wasn’t a packed house.
Overall, if you like French food and want to try something that is not on a lot of menus (like escargots) this is the place for you. We will be returning for sure.
We invited two other couples who had never been to CM and they loved it. We have always enjoyed CM, especially for brunch, and this was no exception. The food was excellent, the conversation lively, our waiter prompt, and our time there exceptional (the Charlotte tap water is, however, awful). We'll come back, and I think we recruited two other couples who will as well.
