Best birthday breakfast ever!
It was my second visit to the restauremte. The first was very good, but the second was just normal. Service was normal, the food was good, but not as good as the last time I was there. I was with a friend and our table was very tight, barely fit the plate and the cup of coffee in it. I don't know if the price worth it.
I have been to cafe monte 1000 times and I love it, but this time the service was poor! We were still eating our dessert, (and BTW, the beignets was really not good! ), the server brought us the bill and we did not ask for!. We were still eating! Another server was picking up all the candles, and people were still there! This was around 8:45, and clearly they wanted us to leave!
Always a good experience when I go here. Have never had a bad meal and the service is excellent.
Excellent food in a beautiful, spacious restaurant. It very much has the feel of a traditional French bistro. The menu had a great selection and the food was prepared well. We would highly recommend!!
The food was stellar! I had heard really great things about the restaurant and the actual experience was perfectly aligned with my expectations. Will be going back for sure.
I loved the atmosphere and the interior! We enjoyed our breakfast, it was delicious! And Our server was very pleasant and professional! Thank you !
Shane is. Fabulous waiter with spot on recommendations! Our meal was exceptional and the wine choice as well!
As always, my wife and I enjoyed a thoroughly enjoyable dinner at Cafe Monte. The service was impeccable with Lisa, who has waited on us many times, being attentive to all our needs.
Delicious mussels in an excellent sauce. Server was very attentive. We have eaten at Cafe Monte many times. It’s always consistently great.
We had the French onion soup and salads. Both of us commented that for the first time the soup was watery and lacked the taste we have experienced previously. We told the waiter. The salads were fabulous- chicken Caesar and the salad with fruit!
They must have been having a really bad day because usually everything is great!
Always a fantastic meal and wonderful service! My husband and I had our favorite comfort meals of beef short ribs and chicken and mushroom crepes. Finished off with a delicious chocolate raspberry cake and coffee. Thank you Amber for being a friendly and attentive server.
The food overall was very good; for a french restaurant i would have like to have seen the following:
-offer stronger coffee; as the coffee i have was weak, bought up to an americain and that was even not that strong.
-offer big loafs of baguettes to buy going out the door as i love fresh french bread.
-the beinet were disappointing, they did tasted good, it was good if i was ordering a hot donut; but they were not beinets at least the ones i have bought at other french restaurants; maybe i am more used to the New Orleans Beinets...
- the beef short rib sandwich i had was one of the best sandwiches i have had in a long time...
My Son had the muscles they were fresh and well prepared, i would suggest offering a baguett with this dish, it was also excellent. My daughter had the quiche and it was very good.
My wife had the Benedict, it was served on an English muffin - surprised it was not severed on a fresh baguette... it was good but not as good as The Original Pancake House.
Some of the best French Fry's around...
Not the most amazing food but solid and consistent. Staff is always overwhelmingly friendly and great ambience.
This is a local favorite so you can always expect a busy place. However, no matter how busy the servers are, they always seem to be at your table to check in several times with a smile and verification that you are happy with your meal.
Food and service was wonderful. Frank was friendly and attentive.
Nice, relaxed French cafe. New York strip is very tasty as was the shrimp and artichoke crepe. We were fortunate to be there on Thursday night when their bottled wine is 1/2 off, so we got a great bottle of French Malbec for only $22. Three of us ate quite well for less than $100. For me, the ambience could be a little cozier.
I treated my sister-in-law from GA to dinner Thursday night....told her Cafe Monte is my favorite restaurant....she was impressed with food......
Our waitress was outstanding. I can't remember her name but she was great!!!!!!
We had a party of six for my wife's birthday celebration. They put us in the new room where one table had about 16-18 people and another with 10-12 people: result extremely noisy and distracting. Three of us ordered filets, but soon found out they were out of them: settled for half a ribeye steak. The room is the farthest from the kitchen; one of the reasons the food came cold and had to be reheated in a microwave.
Jacob, our waiter did a great job and apologized a lot. He talked to the manager about our problems and got the okay to give us all a free desert. That room should be reserved for large groups and not for a group of six. PS: We've been going to Cafe Monte for 10 years or more, including parties of six in the old dining room a number of times. We won't do that again.
Felt as if we were transported to Paris on a Sunday morning ! Charming ambience, friendly and attentive service and amazingly delicious food. We loved the beignets and the smoked salmon benedict.
Here in Charlotte because of a cancelled flight. Excellent mussels and fries, roasted asparagus, a glass of pouilly-fuisse. Attentive staff. Perfect dinner. Redemptive.
Seated quickly, super clean front of the house, excellent server, not noisy...food, had the brie appetizer and excellent but had to ask for more crostini so they should give you 8 pieces, not 4 as the Brie is huge. Or, cut back on that portion size. The Risotto was dee-lish and the apps (asparagus and brussel sprouts) were tasty but served luke warm...so they need to adjust the temperatures. But, I'd go again and recommend it.
Always try to dine at Cafe Monte when in the Charlotte area. Consistently great food! I had the special Beef Wellington and it was perfect!
Appetizers, entrees, and desserts were all excellent. Will definitely return in the future!
Wonderful as usual, we had the swordfish and salmon, everything was fresh and would definitely recommend
I am surprised to write this as I had two experiences here in one week. One was pretty good although some issues, on a weekday for lunch and the other was horrific and on the weekend for brunch. In general though this inconsistency leads me to believe that this will not be a worthwhile experience for the future especially if what you want is brunch/breakfast food.
Weekday lunch experience:
Got a latte that was served in a big lovely mug, delicious! And then a Caesar salad with chicken. Pretty good. My colleague got a salad with Dressing on the side but they messed that up so she got a new salad. Total cost around 25. Good lunch but nothing to write home about.
Weekend brunch experience:
So of course more crowded but even so, not a good experience at all. First, the time to get our food was pretty long. The waitress stopped by 1-2 times and did not offer black pepper like they did at lunch the prior time. But mostly the food was just bad. Many people around us had the same experience too. I got the waffle and a side of poached eggs. Waffle over cooked, eggs way over cooked. My husband got the eggs Benedict which was cold and the eggs were over cooked. A big surprise to see this for both dishes since they pride themselves on egg dishes. The table next to us had the same issue as did the one across from us. Big problem! But even worse the great latte I had the last time was far worse. No big mug, much smaller portion and weak overall.
After these two experiences I am sad to say i don't know how we can come back. Big warning to anyone else that wants good breakfast dishes too. Don't expect as much on a weekend for sure!
Everything about this restaurant is absolutely amazing from the cocktails to the service to the food.
Was amazing. Would go back easily. One of my favorite spots in NC
Very good service and food.Grest place to go out on Fri night.
I am working my way -- happily -- through the menu at Café Monte. Thus far, the duck confit is absolutely worth driving in (25 miles for me, one-way) and enjoying perfection on a plate. I have repeated it many times, and veered from that dedication only when it was not available once. Then, I ordered the salmon dinner -- which is at par with the duck, but entirely different. For self-indulgence, a glass of wine, and total satisfaction, go with the duck. For a really fabulous, less filling meal, go with the salmon. The crusty bread and butter makes you glad when an entrée is delayed -- it is just the wonderful. On my last lunch visit, I had the Hamburger Royale, and was really impressed. Thank you (!!!) for not chopping this somewhat juicy-messy meal into prissy halves. This thick sandwich had a festival of flavors confined in a drippy delight. Medium well was perfect. The flavor of meat was dominant, with subtle accompaniments. So good! I did not want to put it down, so I held it securely until the last bite was gone. Then I dived into the delightful and generously proportioned green salad side. The burger had bacon "cutely" crossed and hanging temptingly out the sides of the bun, just begging to be groomed before sinking teeth into the main event. There also was cheese -- white, not some cheddar drawing focus from the meat. Some tomato slices were present (and a little slippery) and pickles and who knows what else. The meat was lovingly in the focus, and everything else complimented it perfectly. To top this off, I had a slice of the pecan pie, and Daniel kindly warmed it -- an always tricky act for a good pecan pie, and he executed it perfectly. I am not a fan of crust, but the pie was simply delightful -- plenty of pecans, sweet, just-gelled. This lunch was perfect. The audio-background had a husky voiced torchie adding a musical suggestion of the Pigalle Follies. Go! You will be rewarded with happiness!
Great experience, food was wonderful, from the hot baguette to the vegetable and shrimp risotto. I would recommend. Service was great, very attentive.
Great CHARLOTTE eatery. Lots of menu options, great ambience and overall perfect place for lunch with friends.
This was our first time at Cafe Monte and we were not disappointed! Service with a smile, food was delicious but a little pricey. We had the brie as an appetizer, two salads, three entrees and three desserts. We had water, soda and tea to drink and with a 20% tip our meal was $154. We left stuffed! I’m looking forward to adding this restaurant to our monthly rotation of places to dine.
My wife and I had our anniversary dinner at Cafe Monte and it was outstanding. Our server, Alexandra, was excellent. We were early but seated upon arrival and the service, food and atmosphere was really great. This was my first time there but it will be on my list of restaurants to visit many times to come.
Wonderful place to celebrate a birthday with family and friends.
