The paid internship gives them the opportunity to exercise and practice their new skills while continuing to develop leadership, social, and vocational skills for as long as they choose to maintain involvement with Café Momentum. Additionally, Café Momentum works with the Dallas County Juvenile Justice Department to serve youth deemed highest risk for incarceration.
Food was great and service was good. Wait staff very attentive. Had the chicken, porkchop, steak, and shrimp. Shrimp was the only dish were not raving about.
This was our first time visit. The concept is unique and worth trying out. Next visit we will take along friends.
Cafe Momentum has fabulous food! But what is equally amazing is the success of their program to improve the lives of young people who have struggled to find their way!
Cafe Momentum is a sensational restaurant with incredibly fresh, creatively prepared, locally sourced food. Add to that to the fact the restaurant is staffed by at-risk youth in a 12-month paid post-release internship program following their release from juvenile detention and the special nature of the restaurant comes in to sharp focus. This is a great restaurant on the merits of the creativity of their menu and the quality of their food. Considering the value they are bringing to the community and this is a place I look forward to visiting again and again. Congratulations and thank you to Executive Chef and CEO Chad Houser and his team.
An incredible evening with great food and an inspiring mission. We will back again and again!
The evening was outstanding. I only recently learned of this special venue and it’s amazing mission. Everything one the menu was top notch.
It’s been a long time since I felt this special just observing the amazing staff. My steak was prepared to perfection, the salad was excellent and the house made sorbet reminded me of the fine dining traditions of the Pyramid at the Fairmont.
The staff worked seamlessly. It’s the only time in recent memory when I wanted to applaud. Hats off to Chef Houser and the amazing team.
Delicious food and fun evening... what makes this place amazing is the mission as well as the excellent food. Truly a Dallas gem... ❤️🙏🏻
We introduced a friend from Germany to the Momentum experience this week. He joined us in appreciation of the good work of this non-profit... and the good food!
Great food plus a wonderful thing to do for young people!
Great food and service, and all for a great cause! Highly recommend!
What a pleasure to have a wonderful different menu so well done. A must for foodies and people who want different and great.
Café Momentum has excellent food, good wine and beer selection, and provides a great dining experience that doesn't break your budget. On top of that, the mission focus and the local food sourcing make it all worth the trip.
I had been wanting to come here for a long time. I brought my 4 granddaughters because I thought they would be most interested in the cause and how young people in trouble are being helped. They were amazed. Out waitress told them the storie if what this restaurant is doing for her. They were so impressed! I will be back and so will they.
On another note, I valet parked. When I got home I noticed that my large black leather O ring that was attached to my keys was missing. Maybe it fell off. Could you ask them if they found it? I was there last Thursday night. Left restaurant about 7:45pm. Thank you so much.
Thank you, CM team!
We had a lovely evening. The food was so good - we had the smoked fried chicken and the pork chop. Curtis was our server and was very attentive without being intrusive. We really enjoyed our dinner experience.
I really enjoyed Cafe Momentum. The food and service was spectacular! I will be going back!!
The staff and service were phenomenal, very accommodating since my friend is Vegan they were open and willing to make substitutions. Great experience, the concept is what made it so much better, I know I my money didn’t just pay for great food and service in addition its helping those in need. Great Job!!!
A lively place serving up great food with local ingredients - and all for an outstanding cause!
Attended to celebrate with my MARY KAY Top Achievers in my Unit. Love the concept. It was a busy Friday night and they had a packed house! Serves was slow but was with a smile. We were not in a hurry so it was not a problem. Youth were a delight to meet❗️
This place is special because it rehabilitates kids that are fresh out of Juvenile detention. Surprisingly, the food is actually excellent. The kids who serve you are super sweet and polite. They are not your experienced servers but they really trying hard. Only one thing to improve: they could serve wine by the glass. Don’t forget to leave a huge tip, it’s a donation for that program. We will go again.
Food is really good and a value for Dallas. People need to know ahead of time that this is a unique place. The chef and management are accomplished professionals. The balance of the staff are all very young (our server was 16) people learning the culinary trades. And they are at risk youth. It is a registered non profit so tips and profits all go to the cause of teaching at risk youth the trade and the value of good work. Several volunteers here too. Just don’t expect 5* service as they learn. Relax and enjoy amazing food in a place making our world better. I’ll be back for sure.
I'm a regular and have been a supporter for the program for several years. As long as you go with the spirit of the place in mind, you will have a fantastic meal and a great adventure - and contribute to development, success and ultimate contributions to our society of the participants in the program. They food is really fantastic!
Amazing as always!
This restaurant helps kids learn restaurant employment skills while serving top notch food. Good values on wine. Expect servers in training and dine for a cause. only open Thurs-Sun downtown Dallas
The food was excellent - I had shrimp, my wife had steak. The service was very good - attentive, but not overbearing.
It always a pleasure to dine at Cafe Momentum. The menu is filled with fresh, seasonal items, representing diverse options. Our table enjoyed fish and pasta items with seasonal salads centered around heirloom tomoates, as well as peaches. Amazing!
Great food and such a great mission.
This is our absolute favorite restaurant in Dallas. We bring all of our friends and family here. The food is amazing, the staff inspires me every time I meet them and I always leave with my heart overflowing with joy. We have the utmost respect for what Chad Houser is doing for these amazing kids.
I ordered the steak and it was very tough. I explained this to our waitress and nothing was done about it. It’s unfortunate because I’ve never before had a bad meal there.
The concept of the restaurant drew me in (the owners provide at-risk youth a 12-month work program) - the food, service & overall positive vibe blew me away! Highly recommend this amazing place to anyone interested in supporting a great cause while enjoying an inspiring meal!
Delicious food that is locally sourced. Good wine selection. You would not know the servers are training because they were quite accomplished and professional
Can’t wait to return!
Absolutely lovely evening. The staff was friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable. The food was delicious. Unfortunately (for us), there was a very large party, and during their pre-meal time, they spilled over to the center of the restaurant and the noise level was tremendous. We were almost done with our meal by the time they sat down and were able to hear one another (and ourselves) again. My smoked beet pappardelle was SO good. The flavors were subtle, but present, and a beautiful combination for the eyes and the palate. I'm not a shishito pepper person, but I tried one and it was okay. The people who enjoy them in our party raved about them and the order was very, very generous. The bread basket had the most ridiculously delicious blue cheese scones I've ever had. Even the person in our group who doesn't really care for blue cheese, really liked it. I look forward to going back, but I'll make sure it's a night without a large group party.
I love Cafe Momentum. Where else can you combine, great food, great service, great atmosphere and supporting wonderful young adults who are developing skills. I took a friend who was here for a law conference for this visit. She was delighted and awed at the food and the service and so glad to escape to "conference food" for Cafe Momentum's interesting and delicious offering. She sends her thanks!
Not only is the food yummy (wow, blue cheese biscuits!!), but the overall ambience is uplifting. We asked to hear more about their mission of helping these “throwaway kids”. Their stories of kids that had successfully completed the program and the stories and smiles we received from the current wait staff were truly heartwarming. Chef Chad has created an incredible atmosphere for these kids to learn and thrive, not only not in the restaurant business, but also in life.
Cafe Momentum is keeping up their momentum! Great food, good service, making a difference!
We had a fantastic night at cafe momentum! Great food & service!
It was wonderful food, great staff, and 10 out of 10 would recommend to anyone.
My husband and I have been wanting to go for a long time. Loved it and will go back. His meal was perfect. Mine was a tad bit in the salty side. Server was very polite and attentive. We will definitely invite friends next time and go back. It doesn’t hurt that it supports a really great cause.
We've heard so many good things about Café Momentum from friends/colleagues and when we dined there recently for my birthday, we know why they raved about the place! First off the food was amazing; creative and artfully presented using fresh, local ingredients and vendors. A delight for the foodie in me : ) Staff was friendly and attentive. Location in downtown Dallas is a bit hidden but there is valet parking as well as garage parking within walking distance. But perhaps the BEST reason to check out this place?? It's dining for a cause...helping kids coming out of juvenile detention by providing culinary training internships.
Highly recommend - wonderful food / presentation - great service by young people. Cafe Momentum is a gem within Dallas. It is a place to enjoy the great food / service / and build a grand memory.
Chef Chad is a blessing to the community and to those young people he loves
What a great place with a genuine heart of care, concern and love - for young people. "Making the world a better place one meal at a time"
The best You will feel blessed for supporting and enjoying a visit
