Cafe Modern Ratings and Reviews
We were lucky to find this beautiful spot, which is located in the art museum, The Modern, in Fort Worth. (We had initially picked it for the menu, which is also very good--but the museum is world class). Anyway, if you can dine outside on the patio--a sublimely beautiful spot overlooking the large water pool that surrounds the notable architecture of the museum. Service was good and the food was quite nice, especially complimentary bread basket, the corn chowder, salad and Eggs Benedict. Chicken and eggs was good--but not outstanding. Coffee was delicious (necessary at brunch) and the tasting sample of truffles was fantastic. Very interesting flavors and not too much food. We will return when we are back in Fort Worth, and if you can, visit the museum as well as the collections are quite fine.
The Modern menu has terrific descriptions of food that often turns out to be unremarkable. I can wholeheartedly recommend the Eggs Benedict and the hamburgers--everything else is chancy.
I love the atmosphere and the staff and visit often before the Modern Movies in spite of, not because of, the food.
Always love eating at the Cafe Modern. The restaurant looks out onto the shallow water pond and the view is very relaxing. The decor of the restaurant is appropriately modern and minimal leaving the art to be the beautiful food! The wine and cocktail list is impressive, the food is consistently delicious and the portion size is great. I have been twice, once for Easter brunch (LOVED the purple mimosa!), and once for a holiday dinner with family before seeing a movie at the Museum's Theatre, and both experiences were excellent. Great value for the price.
Cafe Modern is a splendid place: spectacular view onto the museum's reflecting pond, excellent service, delicious food. You will never feel rushed. Great place for conversations. Beautiful outdoor area. Go visit the museum before or after. Our favorite place to bring people together.
As usual, Cafe Modern had fantastic service and food. My wife and I so enjoy sitting inside a large, but cozy space, with a view out the floor to ceiling windows of the beautiful grounds outside. It's a sublime experience we never get tired of. It's a "must" treat, even if you don't take the time to enjoy the museum itself.
I had the Melon Salad with Marcona Almonds and Bleu Cheese. While the salad was delicious, absolutely. There was only one small fig, quartered on the salad, and ten almonds. I added chicken to the salad and it was fine. There was only about two teaspoons of the blue cheese on the salad. The service was perfect. The setting divine, as always.
Our server was wonderful! She was prompt, so helpful with a really warm personality-and the FOOD!!! I had basil tomato soup followed by grilled marinated shrimp, creamy grits with bits of applewood bacon and crispy greens on the side.
Can't wait to go back! The nightime view of the cobalt blue lit museum reflecting off the water made the entire evening complete!
I went with a friend for a casual Sunday Brunch and was pleased with the nice atmosphere and good food. The eggs benedict were tasty and came served with excellent home style potatoes. It was nice to have a room with a pretty view and a noise level that allowed for easy conversation. Will definitely be back.
The setting is beautiful; the ambiance serene; the food outstanding!
Our waitperson seemed new at the job and did not know the menu. She did not bring extra bread that we requested and she got my husband's order wrong. The mistake was quickly corrected. And the meal was so wonderful that these little inconveniences did not detract from the overall experience.
