One of Fort Worth's finest 'room with a view' dining venues, the unique and outstanding menu and excellent service will make even the most mundane of events a special occasion!
Yesterday was noisy but good great tnx
Again ..I will be back
Had an amazing brunch. The food was delicious including the mini scones! Was beautiful to sit by the water and take in the view. Will definitely go back when I am in Fort Worth!
Outstanding in all aspects. Will be going back.
Perfect evening with friends. Wonderful view and service. The food was delicious.
Love Cafe Modern! Food is pretty good usually. Servers always pleasant, food can be a little slow in coming out. Noise level is high, acoustics could be improved. It is such a pretty place, the restaurant itself and of course the view is outstanding! We are always made to feel very welcome.
The food was tremendous. We started with the cheeseboard, and then had lovely brunch entrees. We are never disappointed at The Modern.
Thank you so much for taking time to share your experience at Cafe Modern,. We're so happy to hear that you enjoyed your meal with us. We look forward to welcoming you back again soon.
So loud and no straws. Straws are an accessibility issue and refusal to provide them (even upon request) means I won’t return.
I did take that they had a pre-fix menu before providing this review. The positive was that the staff was very attentive and professional. However, the food was awful. It was "warm" at best and no flavor. Also, to top it off we ordered coffee after our meal and it was cold. I honestly will go to spend time at the museum, however will skip the cafe for sure.
Nice place; food good; service good
Food was great as usual. Service ok. Very loud.
We went for the Valentine’s Dinner special fixed price menu, and it was a wonderful first experience. We will definitely be back. We sat at the bar and had a drink, which was excellent. Great service. Excellent food. Personally I would think they could improve the ambiance with tablecloths and a few things, but that is just personal preference. It was an excellent evening and I look forward to trying it again.
While the service was great, the food was bland and not worth the money we paid. Additionally, there was unexpectedly a set menu for Valentine’s Day at $69 a person, which we didn’t see anywhere when we made the reservations a month ago. They also didn’t offer their usual menu items or cocktails. The cost was unexpected a forced $69 a person and the food experience was disappointing for such a high-cost place.
It was a fixed menu for valentines. The only thing that tasted good was the soup and my wine. The entree was barely edible and the sampler desserts were horrible. With tip our bill was $260 for two people. Feel like I got robbed!
Valentines Day. Worst service of any restaurant we’ve been to in years. Mediocre table location. Waiter slow to greet. Then slow to take drink order. Then didn’t understand scotch on the rocks order and didn’t know scotches. Then didn’t bring first round of drinks until after first course was served. And then only one drink arrived and had to go back for second. Ordered another round of drinks before main course was served, but it didn’t arrive until after dessert was served and nearly done. Also, no soup spoons with soup. Had to ask another server. Then bill was delivered with full tip included before tax was added. Food was above average, but the service over came the positive.
We always loved dining at the Cafe Modern. On Valentine's Day however, even though the food was artistically presented on the plate, we both became very bloated immediately after eating and had extreme indigestion. We wonder if there were many preservatives and additives in the food. We never had this problem in the past.
The service was excellent and the ambiance was lovely. The wine was also excellent.
I am always ambivalent about the Modern. I love the atmosphere and the service, while slow, is always polite and helpful. The food is the sticking point--the descriptions are lovely, the food seldom lives up to the description. This time I had the daily soup--it was good. I also had a bowl of grits--no seasoning--I had to ask for a salt shaker. Why, oh why, have they stopped putting them on the table. The food, believe me, is not so expertly seasoned that it needs no salt. One had my table had the quiche--it looked as if it had been around for a few days. She said it was edible but not really that good. So it goes. Another had the omelet and said it was very good. The side salad however had clearly been sitting in it's dressing for hours--wilted and soggy. So it goes. just good enough to keep me coming back but not good enough to stop the grumbling. Wonder if they care.
We eat early on Sunday morning to avoid crowds and noise.
Food is always great and interesting. We like the unique dishes and reasonable prices.
View is lovely, service great. There was a large party there on our day, but staff kept up. Current menu has lots of great choices. However it was too noisy to have a conversation.
Continues to be our favorite restaurant in Ft. Worth. Very romantic and quiet. The food is well priced and innovative. Not to mention of the highest quality and flavor. The ambiance of the water and glass walls are incredible without being cold. Love, love ,love , Cafe Modern
Loved our dining experience. Only drawback was that I requested a table next to water with view and we were sat at the farthest end, next to the entrance. Not a big deal, but I was hoping for better.
Wow--homerun with this lunch. We were looking for somewhere to celebrate a bit and this was the perfect place. Vegetarian options were delicious. And, the wine selection was yummy. Food here is fantastic!
Consistently good food with a seasonal menu. Service is attentive and friendly, but not pushy. Great for a relaxing brunch. It's hard to beat the view.
Had the mid eastern chicken salad and it was terrible. The seasoning was so off.
Great service and great food
A very rude manager who publicly chastised me for my chair not being in the proper place. She does not smile and is symbolic of the bad attitude running the show at this restaraunt. It happened to be my anniversary and will never give back. Could have had a better experience at a McDonalds, including the food.
Great food, wonderful service, and a beautiful view for dinner. One of my favorite restaurants! I love the entree selections and combinations of food. We all had a superb evening!
Setting is so lovely; service solicitous if a touch slow. Food really mediocre (Cubano; grilled cheese). We’ve had better luck w eggs Benedict on weekend brunch. We will come back but are stumped what to order next time
Service was a little slow (which is sometimes the case at Cafe Modern). Food is very good. Fairly good variety on the menu. Extremely loud as surfaces are all concrete or glass and the room was full. In spite of all this, we enjoy going and will go back again.
Dear MarthaU, Thank you very much for sharing your feedback . We're sorry to hear that we failed to meet your expectation. Providing an excellent guest experience is extremely important to us, and we hope you'll visit us again, and give us another chance to make it right.
Loved the food and the simple decor along with the view. The only disappointment was dessert. We ordered
pumpkin tiramisu. The creme had a waxy flavor , the pumpkin had an orange flavor, the
name was not a good choice, It led me to believe it would be tiramisu with a pumpkin flavor, wrong!
Dear DorisB, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We're sorry to hear that the Pumpkin Tiramisu did not meet your expectations and our own high standards. We have shared it with our team and will keep working to improve our service. Thanks, Roxanne McLarry
The burger was excellent, prepared exactly as ordered. The fries were cooked well but had so much salt on them they were virtually inedible. The salt actually crunched in my teeth there was so much. My mother had their homemade potato chips which she let me try and they were excellent and I wished I had requested them instead. The service is always slow but they are usually very busy and full because overall it is good food and convenient to the museums.

I love thus place! Sadly, on this visit the kitchen was very busy for Sunday brunch and their lack of attention and time was reflected in a subpar dish that had been recommended by the sever. Happily, the manager was solicitous and understanding.

Top marks on character and atmosphere, but it seems like our food always comes out cold and sub-par for the price.

Cafe phone was not answered by staff
Had to call museum & be transferred to confirm reservation for bday party for Sunday brunch
Service was ok even though restaurant got busy - however we arrived on time and were some of first guest seated and it seemed like it took a while to order.
All those things could and were adjusted but both my daughter and I shared the avocado toast option and within an hour of eating got really sick :-(. It was the only item shared at our table and no other guest had stomach issues.
May need to consider a quality check on current food items...
We love going to Cafe Modern for brunch! The overall atmosphere is really pretty because you’re surrounded by the water features in a modern seating area. The reason we gave the experience a 4/5 is because the service is very slow and each time we go, we’re served cold coffee. The staff is friendly and knows the menu well, so you feel like you can really make an educated decision on what you want to eat. When you go, just plan to be there for a couple of hours.
Amazing Bloody Mary! Eggs Benedict and the Grits are a MUST!
Beautiful setting, excellent food, nice service. A wee bit pricey.
Love this venue and it's atmosphere. Menu is always interesting. Appetizer and drinks were delicious. Both brunch entrees were ice cold. I'll be back and hope for the best.
The grits with cheese and bacon appetizer was wonderful. Right after the grits were served the eggs Benedict were served; there was not room on the table for both dishes. To eat the grits,we had to hold the grits bowl with one hand eating with a spoon with the other.
We both had Eggs Benedict. We had to stack the grits bowls on the table to eat the Eggs Benedict. By this time they were on the cold side. The English muffins were stale and difficult to cut.
The Bloody Marys left a lot to be desired. Instead of salt on the rim there was hot chili pepper powder.
Thank God for the grits and the excellent coffee.
Service would be improved with more staff.
Beautiful view of the trees wrapped with Christmas lights. Pasta dish was a bit overpriced.
