With its stunning location in the Modern Art Museum and its serene reflecting-pond backdrop, The Modern can host an impressive corporate event or the wedding reception of your dreams.
View Private Dining DetailsLunch at Café Modern is always a very pleasant treat. The food is interesting (& good!). The service is friendly. We like the room. Other customers seem to be having good times. We go there almost every time we drive to Fort Worth (from Dallas).
Always a great menu with frequent updates and seasonal selections with interesting cocktails and exceptional service. This is a favorite spot for every generation of my family and every dining preference.
We're museum members and we enjoy walking the museum and then having dinner. It's nice setting for date night or meeting friends.
Excellent location in the museum district and two blocks away from Casa Mañana. They have a very innovative chef with a creative menu. (But don't go there expecting "meat and potatoes".} Their soups are always good, with a daily special in soups as well as entrees, and they have a well-rounded wine list.
Consistent. A variety of choices, great setting and excellent service.
We had brunch. I ordered the Caprese Eggs Benedict which come with hash browns. Dish was delicious but cold. Made colder by placing the eggs on a cold tomatoes. But the potatoes were not warm either.
Our other dish was chicken with grits dressed too lightly with green chili pepper sauce. Tasted very much like chicken noodle soup. And was barely warm.
We were looking for a great Sunday brunch. The wait staff was fantastic! The food was good with many options from a bit exotic to downright classics. The prices were reasonable for the value. We will definitely be back!
Cafe Modern's new menu seems geared towards the vegan/trendy set (as I heard another patron comment). The uninspired "lobster" bisque did not have any pieces of lobster. I was told that it was pureed, as one might do for an infant. My wife's chicken tortilla soup, though tasty, had a de minimis amount of chicken. The wine selections were nice. Service was adequate. The setting, as always, is fabulous, but cannot push Cafe Modern past its newfound mediocrity.
A lovely setting. Daniel, the host, was very welcoming. Clancy , our server, was very attentive with great suggestions. Enjoyed the meal.
Sorry but you need to take the chicken and grits item off the menu. It was totally unflavorful. And the turkey sandwich was very bland as was the side salad of cabbage. First time I have ever been disappointed in Cafe Modern's food!! What gives?
I await the menu change.
Also, the noise level has become unpleasant. Not sure how that can be rectified.
Beautiful ambience. Interesting but small menu. Pleasant lunch venue.
Very nicely prepared, creative dishes. Service is attentive and pleasant. A great place for lunch in the Cultural District.
Cafe Modern is a great lunch spot with a varied menu, excellent service, and great ambiance.
First time there. Daniel was our server. He was an outstanding server. Food was awesome sauce. Will be back
The food was surprisingly mediocre, especially the Asian bowl. They seem to be very creative with the menu wording but not with the dishes. The “modern” eggs Benedict was nothing spectacular and underwhelming. The Asian bowl was literally one “normal” slice of brisket one might get at a BBQ place, that was cut into smaller bite size pieces placed around a pile of rice and a smear of bbq sauce. A very unimpressive $15 brunch ítem.
One of my favorite aspects of the restaurant is the view of the grounds of the museum. The service is usually very attentive and the food selections rotate seasonally and have unique flavor combinations. On this last visit, I tried the asparagus quiche and it was good. The new waffle was flavorful as well.
We love this place so I’m not going to say this place is the rating I gave it based on our meal last night. They just changed menus and it was 50/50. Maybe they’ll work on the kinks. However we do hope we never have our server again. She was zero help with wine selections and when she suggested items on the menu we questioned if she had even tried them for example she said the sorbet was creamy bc it had coconut milk and banana and I guess that can sound creamy but the texture was icy and crunchy like it has freezer burn.
The best way to round out a day of museum visits in Ft. Worth.
With the stunning Modern Art Museum as a backdrop, the delicious, creative menu, excellent service and comfortable space will enhance any occasion from casual to more formal.
We love the modern but this time...our reservation still meant waiting nearly 40 min for a table only to be seated by the check-in desk. Last few times it seems the overall management has gone down...waitstaff was awesome though!!!
Lovely service. Good food. Beautiful location.
The food and service were excellent. It was a little loud, and I was disappointed with the table we were given in that it did not have the view I hoped for. We probably got the worst table in the room. But the escargot appetizer was top notch. My date was happy with the wine that we chose and I was OK with it. Both appetizers were great.
If you want to tour the museum exhibits, reserve a table after 8:00 when they close. There is misinformation on the web that the exhibits are open later on the first Friday of the month. That is either out of date or just wrong. We will return another time for the art. Probably the food too.
We had a great dinner sharing appetizers and salad!
Want to impress your date this is a great restaurant. Most of the dinning room has a view of the lake, the city skyline, and the picturesque structure of the museum itself. The food is exceptional- with lots of healthy options and excellent pairing of side dishes and beverages.
Never had a bad meal here. I really like the restaurant. It is also very handy to all the museums.
Excellent food and service. Wonderful wine and drink menu as well.
This place is a gem, especially for brunch!
Great atmosphere, Great Food, Great Service and a Great View!!!
The view is amazing and the space is beautiful. The food is very tasty for brunch with a twist on some favorites.
A choice setting to enjoy world class architecture while dining with friends. Friendly, efficient and attentive service is available from a well trained, smart staff. The food selection is from a creative chef who knows the business of using best ingredients with interesting chemistry for delightful taste. The plate presentations give cause to pause before consumption. Wonderful experience for brunch.
Lovely! Will be back.
My daughter, granddaughter had a wonderful time both in lunch and touring the Art exhibit. It was a delayed Christmas gift from my daughter. We decided to wait until Valentine's to use it. We had a great time we love the view. It is quite elegant. Thank you for a great time
It was outstanding!
We left our credit card after paying the bill. The server not only tried to run after us, but then went back and got our phone number off the reservation and called us. We said we were turning around and heading back and she met us outside at the curb. Very nice service, especially considering it was Valentine's night and they were very busy.
Food was not worth the price, ambience is great and beautiful. Server was not familiar at all with menu and wine menu. To spend $200 in this place, you can do it elsewhere and have your money’s worth.
Great food - variety on the menu. Service was good; food and drinks served in timely manner. Loved looking out at the shallow pool of stones and water
As always the menu was interesting and varied. Service was great and my food cooked to perfection. It is one of my favorite brunch places.
We've eaten here several times but this time was disappointed with the food. The chicken I paid extra for on my salad was over cooked and dry. My husband sandwich didn't have much taste. It will be a while before we come back.
Sadly, this was the worst experience at Cafe Modern we have had. We go often because the ambiance and food is usually great. This time, despite a two day advance reservation, and not a holiday mind you, we were seated in the dark corner table in the back of the restaurant. So, I could have managed that if all else had gone well--I realize that not everyone can sit in the beautiful main dining area. But, nope, just got worse. It was as if the waitstaff forgot about us at first--took a long time to get ordered and drinks came out slow. Then our food arrived and it was various version of cold ---sad sad sad. The poached eggs in the benedict were barely cooked...which was just gross. Most of us ordered the same dishes, so it was a bust all around. Since I have have had many good experiences at Cafe Modern, I will obviously go again. Maybe they have changed management or something...I hope they can get the problems fixed.
I have been here many times for Sunday brunch. It is always very busy and a bit loud, but the menu is interesting and the view is outstanding. Beautifully presented cocktails.
