I might go back for wine and apps but was not impressed by our dinner. We had the crab cake special appetizer but I’m not sure there was any crab meat in it. It tasted like filler only. The short rib was dry, like they forgot to put a sauce on it. And we didn’t understand the pomegranate seeds on top. The cauliflower fritters were great and we also enjoyed the cheese plate.
Once was a great place to eat and then in Oct, Nov, and Dec it seemed to go down hill rapidly. We only returned because we were attending an event at the museum and saw it seemed to be recovering based on reviews. Doubt we will ever return. Service was terrible. My wife must have gluten free and the server brought her contaminated food. Food was cold and average at best. Not worth the price.
The cauliflower fritters were delicious, as was were the braised short ribs and the swordfish special.
Great food. Beautiful setting at night. Half price bottles of wine Friday night was a wonderful surprise. Dinner and a movie - a great night.
It was our 1st time at Cafe Modern and we absolutely loved it. It was a nice romantic date with music playing on Friday night and the scenic view outside. The food was also delicious. I definitely recommend the seared tuna.
Great food but the main dish was brought out to close to when the appetizers were served
Amazing grilled pork chop 1.5 inches thick and cooked to perfection. Great service and ambience!
Great as always!
A beautiful and delicious place to dine whether you are there to see the museum or are doing other things in the area.
First time to Café Modern and was extremely pleased. The diversity and uniqueness of the dishes really made it fun and all five of us thought all our dishes were excellent. The only disappointment was that for some reason we thought it had a buffet for Sunday brunch, but not.
We came for brunch. The food was good, not great. We ordered two mimosas each. I guess the original with OJ was on special, though I didn't realize that to get one that was offered with grapefruit juice was twice the price. The food items are supposed to be better quality, so I guess that explains the higher price, but I think I can do better elsewhere. The view from the restaurant looking outside was nice, but the view inside, very so-so. Nothing special. The service was good. I liked that you could have conversation with others at the table(not too loud).
Entrees were excellent. I never order chicken dishes at restaurants as chicken is a staple item and easy to make. The boneless skin-on chicken breast was the best I've ever had. Perfectly crispy skin, moist & well-seasoned meat. Prosciutto in salad expertly crisped. Shrimp appetizer not worth ordering. Tasted like standard shrimp cocktail served in always-difficult-to-navigate martini glass. Ambiance relaxing between indoor & outdoor lighting and stillness of the gazing pond. As usual for a restaurant on a Friday, a bit loud inside, but did not take away from views. Bar understaffed, making drink service take long. Service was prompt and friendly on all other counts. Will def return.
Four of us came for Friday dinner. The service was good and I liked that it was quiet enough for us to have conversation with each other. The view outside was nice, but the view inside was nothing special. Food was good, not great. The portions were very small. I think we all left hungry even after ordering dessert. I understand that the meat and produce are of better quality, but I was not satisfied with the value of our meals and drinks. For those reasons, I will probably not return to dine at this restaurant.
Such a quiet and great place to dine. The food is exceptional as well as the service. Would definitely recommend this restaurant to all!
Delicious lunch in a beautiful tranquil setting
The food was okay, the setup was nice, our server was kind of terrible. Refills on coffee took nearly the entire meal, we ask for more bread and it came toward the end of the meal. She also took the breadbasket when we were done with our food without asking if we were done.
I was annoyed the egg options didn’t specify if the eggs were pasture raised in addition to cage free so I skipped those options.
Overall it was a fun experience and I would recommend if someone wanted so,etching different but still affordable.
Our favorite place to eat in Fort Worth.
Outstanding server in a beautiful setting. Prompt service.
Despite the reservation offering a "happy hour special" none of the happy hour specials, besides half off bottles of specified wines, were available to dining room guests. Aside from that, the view is nice, wine list is extensive, service was fair.
Normally love the modern but the food was not up to par. The spinach salad was too much spinach and few other ingredients and the squash Mac was very over cooked.
Hoping it was just an aberration.
Cafe Modern is always a great experience. The menu changes with the seasons. The drink specials are always creative and delicious. Friday night dinner has a special menu and brunch menu on Sunday has a great variety. I highly recommend the Texas Cornbread Benedict!
Beautiful setting and great place for brunch or luncheon in a casual setting. Food and service are very good. I made a reservation online which enabled us to get a great view for a party of 6 on a busy Saturday morning.
Excellent food, excellent service, a little on the pricey side for the value you get.
Wonderful choice for an upscale lunch with a great friend.
Thoughtful and well represented menu. Well prepared food with attentive service. Quiet room with beautiful views. A place to come regularly
It is always fun to eat at Cafe Modern. It is my favorite spot in Fort Worth. The constantly changing menu always has something interesting to offer. The Modern had been promoting eating there while the lights are up. The trees are well-covered but the color is monochromatic (it is a missed opportunity; check out Vitruvian Park). All in all the lights were nice, but oversold.
We are regulars at the Modern and never disappointed with our experiences there. Tonight we also had the added beauty of the museums Christmas lights displays. Wonderful evening.
Went for brunch with a reservation. Cool view of the water and sculpture. Get the traditional eggs benedict. They were delicious!
Wonderful lunch/brunch before heading to the Kimble (also, perfect if going to: The Modern, Amon Carter, Science Museaum, Cowgirl Museum, anything at Will Rogers Complex, Casa Manana, FW Botanical Gardens, etc, etc, .... you get the idea 😉). Haven’t been in a while and menu seemed updated and all we ordered was delicious. Great gluten free options for those needing it. All choices were fantastic. View over reflecting pond is superb. Waitress friendly and efficient. Looking forward to returning and would recommend to others!
The menu is always interesting, unique, and well prepared. The noise level is the only downside. It’s difficult to have a conversation.
The food is good with a nice variety of choices. Quite loud at lunch.
Had to cancel due to sudden illness. Contacted Cafe Modern. This review is based on other events held at Cafe Modern, which have all been very satisfactory.
Excellent restaurant whether it is for dinner or lunch. I love this restaurant!
Wonderful setting, great food and service. One of our favorite spots in Fort Worth
We eat here a lot and normally have good experiences but on Saturday we would have been better off bringing sandwiches. The chicken breast was tough and salty. My wife couldn't eat it. My food was bland and cold even though it had "hot" on the name of the dish. The was waitress was slow and inattentive. One of the pieces of bread served to us appeared to have a bite out of it. They did give us a five dollar credit as a result. Way too little too late. For what they charge you expect an upscale dining experience. This was a disaster. In spite of the good experiences in the past, I doubt we will ever go back. I feel robbed of my money, time, and experience.
Everything was wonderful.
Lovely meal, good service, and not as noisy as sometimes is the case here.
The art is everywhere including the restaurant. I've been to many art museum restaurants this is near the top of the list.
The restaurant was surprisingly enjoyable. From the view to the meal was much better than expected. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for outings with friends, dates and special occasions.
We decided on Café Modern for a nice ladies Sunday Brunch. We were seated quickly and greeted by our waitress (Summer) She was very knowledgeable on the menu and very helpful with a substitution for someone that could not eat tomatoes. Food was delicious and presented beautifully. Definitely want to return for dinner.
