Cafe Miro Ratings and Reviews
Always a great place to go for any occasion. Quality food and service. Been there several times and was never disappointed. Don't have a favorite item on the menu because everything is delicious. Would highly recommend this place especially because it is not in a high traffic area.
I took my good friend out for her 50th birthday, and from the moment we stepped in, our server and everyone else made sure we had a great evening! Food recommendation was very helpful, every dish was impeccably presented and so tasty, the service was excellent!!! It's hard to find a restaurant that has so much charm. I honestly cannot think of anything negative to say about this restaurant. Maybe, decor can be improved juuuust a little bit?
I will go back there any day!!!
The excellent wait staff has been the same for years. My standard choices are the ahi carpaccio and chicken with morels. The portions are not large but I always feel full enough at the end. I will deviate from my standard choices for some of their specials like the duck confit or the catch of the day in almond butter, super yum! This is one of our 'go to' places after the Sunday theater matinee. Love Café Miro!
We were pleasantly surprised when entering Cafe Miro, as the saying goes'don't judge a book by it's cover". The outside looks like an ordinary neighborhood dive from the outside but inside opens into a quainty French inspired nook. ( I've never been to France, so don't quote me, it gave me the impression) The settings and ambiance were quite inviting and wait service very personable. We had the 4 course menu recommended by our waiter. It was simple but not simple tasting. The portions were just right without filling you up because the dessert made the meal complete with assortment. Cafe Miro is not what it seems like from the outside. You will be pleasantly surprised as we were!
If you're looking for a nice romantic place to go for date night, Cafe Miro is it. The ambiance is nice and the noise level makes the mood romantic and oh so nice. The servers are helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. They don't "force" anything and make lovely suggestions to help you get the most of your experience. My boyfriend and I went for date night and all the dishes that were suggested came out perfectly. Another thing I like is that they don't force you to leave subtly. They don't place the bill down before you finish dessert just because they're almost closing...or they don't constantly ask if you need anything else as if kicking you out. Overall the food and service were top notch and worth the price paid. I will definitely go there again.
Not our first time here but we keep forgetting how great it is! Chef is amazing - he does not just check in then leave he oversees the whole dinner service until the end! We had to wait for our table as it was Mother's Day and we arrived early. We waited at the bar and sipped on Champagne, Bronson our bartender took good care of us and chef sent out some amuse bouche to keep us happy and excited about our meal to come. We had many different dishes between the 4 of us so we all shared and tasted each others - All were deemed hits! The fresh fresh in brown butter almond was to die for as were the oysters, the filet with fois gras, the appetizer sampler and the fois gras don, even the starter of Vichyssoise lingered on the palate long after the last spoonful. We will be back and soon! Thanks to waiter Frank, manager Jimmy and of course chef for an amazing meal!
This was our third visit to Cafe Miro & we found the service to be attentive as usual; the food very good except my husband's steak was a little on the tough side. My rack of lamb was excellent, as were my broiled oysters. The other couple enjoyed their lamb & scallops as well. The seafood medly salad is always a treat.
The noise level was acceptable, considering the place was full. We will always choose Miro to celebrate a special occasion.
We have lived only about 9 blocks away for over 5 years now but never dined at Miro. Big mistake! The restaurant if very nicely decorated and the staff is top notch. But when it gets right down to it the food is the most important thing and the food was outstanding. The choices from the 3 course or 4 course pre-fixe menus were all good and our food was excellent. They also served us vichyssoise which is hard to find these days, but Miro's was really good.
We've been to this restaurant for over 10 years already, and always enjoy the food and service here. The atmosphere at this restaurant allows you to enjoy your dinner and be able to have a conversation with everyone on the table. Some other places, especially with the open kitchens nowadays are too loud and noisy, but not here. The rib eye steak was cooked to perfection. The seafood salad was quite good as well. The 3 course prix fixe menu was enough for me, but if you have a real good appetite, the 4 course should fill you up.
We had to get used to the way the menu was organized, but once past that, the choices were wonderful. The chef is from Japan, so the food has a Japanese/local take on French cuisine. We started with salads, which were fabulous. We ordered the seafood and proscuitto salads. Both came with generous amounts of mixed greens and were great. For entrees we had the Beef Bourguinon (?), the fish french style, and the fish with daikon and shoyu. All were pronounced terrific. Dessert was poached pear, which came with a spun sugar veil/nest, and a tasting assortment. Each was spectacular and very tasty.
The prices were very reasonable, at about $50 per person plus liquor.
One note is that there were three choices of steak on each side of the menu. I was surprised that a French restaurant would emphasize steak that much, but we were able to order around that easily.
Our waiter was very friendly and helpful. When he saw that we were conversing somewhat heavily, he offered to move us to a quieter table, which worked out very well.
All in all, a wonderful evening!
Had a fun dinner with the family here and the food was delicious! Portions were generous and nicely presented. I had the 4 course Chef Prix Fix. We all started with a large Amuse Bouche of yellow roasted bell pepper cold soup which was so good, then I had a warm seafood medley salad which was huge. Then came my scallops in Uni cream sauce over a bed of wilted spinach. Then my main course of young roast chicken with morel sauce. Lastly a sampling of desserts. Coffee gelato, chocolate flourless cake and mango panna cotta. Everything was so good! A must try while in Kaimuki!
My family thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience at Cafe Miro. Our waiter Frank (Ryan) was attentive, helpful and anticipated our every dining need. He was also spot on when helping us select a great wine to pair with our meal. Our family has the honor of having an extremely picky eater! She is wary of anything new and R different. What a pleasant surprise when she devoured her as she calls (cold yummy potato soup) and Almond Butter Mahi Mahi! This was gift enough and yet there's more! We enjoyed fresh oysters (better than I'd ever had in the pan handle of Florida), large tender scallops, lamb chops and the men folk had two different preparations of beef. The desserts were the perfect ending to our meals. We left with smiles on our faces, sated without feeling gluttonous. Though the chef and staff catered to our elementary school aged daughters, next time my husband and I will go without our children to savory the romantic atmosphere.
From the moment we stepped inside we were treated as special guests. All of the wait staff were attentive, knowledgable, friendly and efficient. The food was outstanding...I could've cut my steak with a spoon! Everything was extremely enjoyable. This is our second time at Cafe Miro and we look forward to returning again soon. I don't know how anyone could be disappointed.
Our first visit to Cafe Miro. Their menu is a little difficult to read, but the Prix Fixe menu works very well. The amuse bouche was cold leek soup, followed by a generous salad, with an interesting dressing, next to an assortment of seafood including shrimp, mussels, etc/ But the piece de resistance was the very tender beef tenderloin, topped with a slice of foie gras, and just enough of an excellent gravy -- the best pairing I have ever tasted. The waiter did a good job of putting candles that we had brought, all properly lighted, with the musical "Happy Birthday " candle in the middle, and joined us in singing. And then he served the dessert course, with excellent morsels of things like creme brulee, a small scoop of sorbet, strawberries, along with a slice of the cake.. A very satisfying experience.
This was my 4th or 5th time to here. Food quality was great. Too bad they changed the recipe for the broiled oyster. I think before was 5 different flavors? But now all 5 were the same. I ordered the scallops as the main course, it was delicious. Scallop was slightly overcooked though.
My friend had the steak with foie gras and he said it was fabulous. Pricing was reasonable. I would recommend to others and go back again.
My husband and I celebrated Valentine's Day on Saturday 2/21/15 and we were so glad we did. We were greeted immediately by a cute little hostess and took us to our table. The waiter welcomed us and explained how the menu works and offered the wine list. The prix fixe menu was very good, but I felt the wine list was a little pricey and a small selection. I had the Beef Tenderloin that was out of this world and my husband had the Ribeye steak. We came prepared and brought our own wine and it was great with all the dishes. We are definitely returning and recommending the restaurant.
We thought we would give Cafe Miro a try for our anniversary and we were not disappointed. We had the three course fixed price option which turned out to be five courses. We were served an excellent vichyssoise before our appetizer and small crab croquette before our main course. Oh and we got a free glass of sparkling wine for our anniversary. The food we actually ordered was great. I had the scallops and my spouse had the duck -- both very good. The atmosphere is casual but nice and the waiters are very pleasant. All in all, a fun experience. By the way, they have validated parking in the bank parking lot in the rear.
