Cafe Miro Ratings and Reviews
Foods were great except the bread that was mediocore at best. They should serve good French baguette that matches good French style cuisine. We did not like the vinyl table cloth that killed the beautiful presentation of foods. Table cloth should be white to hilite the cuisine or to match.
Went there for birthday celebration, guest of honor was treated royally. Prixe fixe menu is very affordable and the choices were great. Food came in a timely manner and service was excellent. Potato Leek soup was delicious, all the appetizers were fantastic. Entrees and dessert were great. Would definitely come back to try other dishes.
From beginning to end our dinner at Cafe Miro exceeded all expectations. This was our first time, but will not be our last. The wait staff, ambience, and food were exceptional. The cost for a dinner for 2 was very reasonable. The quality of the food preparation, presentation and taste was wonderful. We've already recommended it to several friends.
Superb food and welcoming staff. Cafe Miro has a comfortable and warm decor, makes you feel relaxed. Everyone in my party enjoyed themselves and one even wished he had more time in Hawaii so that he could return for the incredible food. Owner/chef Kobayashi truly puts his heart into it all. The seafood medley salad was nice and light. The lamb tasted great. Superb value. Staff answered all of our questions regarding the menu and the restaurant.
We always enjoy dining at Café Miro for the excellent cuisine. The service is quite good and the complimentary vici soir [sp?] was refreshing. I liked that they started having a course for a small appetite person, in addition to their original 2 courses. It was perfect for my 84 years old husband.
The staff was wonderful and made our evening a memorable occasion. Every one was attentive, warm and very helpful. I can't believe this was my first time after all the years I've lived here. Incredible food!! I'd have to say the food rivals all the four and five star restaurants on Oahu. Never have I had more delicious and tender local abalone and squid.
First time here after hearing great things about it. The menu is spectacular. I wanted to try everything so I'll just have to go back again. Our meal was fantastic down to the service.
The only thing is, I wish they would incorporate more local ingredients where they can. I know it would drive prices up but it seems it's a good fit for the neighborhood they're in.
Will definitely go back since everything was delicious but I have to try the dishes I missed.
Thank you cafe Miro!!
The food here is always outstanding! One of my favorite restaurants. Only thing I would change is to liven up the ambience somehow. The decor is very dated and the lighting is a little too bright. My wife and I love to come here on our anniversary, so it would be nice for the ambience to be a bit more romantic.
This is a well established French café with a chef influenced by Japanese cuisine. I have been on island since the 80's and hadn't heard about this restaurant until recently. It has a great menu items and creative dishes. I had only dined there once previously. This trip was my second with two "newbies."
The café offers a few ordering options. Two are fixed priced based on amount of courses you choose (three or four). It also offers items at ala carte prices. What is fun is the fact that you can pretty much mix and match between the two menus in the same category.
Their serving portions are amazing. A seafood medley salad was enough for a meal itself. In the "fancy" places you might get two pieces of greens with a couple seafood items - not at Café Miro. They provide a full salad with a Scallop, with large (head on) shrimp, cuttlefish, Fish (ours was Opah) and a few small mussels. The dressing was awesome.
The appetizer sampler and dessert sampler are definite winners in your courses as they add a nice variety of items to try and admire.
The décor is casual / café style. You can come with casual attire or spruce up your clothes a bit without any objection.
The staff is plentiful and helpful. My only concern is when food is placed to the customer the staff didn't take time to identify the components of the dishes. With the menu long gone it would have been helpful for the staff to explain the different components of the dish especially in "mixed" dishes such as the seafood medley and the samplers. The person who "dropped" our dishes to us was not our server.
The chef/owner was working the evening we were dining. It would have been nice if he had visited tables for a quick "aloha."
All in all a great experience and I would go and invite others again.
My husband and I had very high expectations coming to Cafe Miro but left disappointed. The staff was amazing but the food was boring. The menu seemed impressive but tasted like a cruise ship meal. The entire experience was out of the 70s.
My wife, who LOVES Cafe Miro, was troubled in what she saw as a dramatically different menu for Valentine's Day. It was a disappointment to her. After being seated and looking at the offerings, she felt strongly that she wanted to go somewhere else and return soon when the more standard menu was being featured. Personally, I found items that would have suited me. But on an evening when we were celebrating our years together, I didn't want her to be disappointed. So, we went elsewhere after my wife apologized to our hostess and I expressed our regrets to our server, both of whom were amazingly gracious. We will return. Cafe Miro has been and will continue to be a favorite.
This was my second visit. Once again, the food was excellent. However, there was a table with a large group and they were quite noisy. This made the conversation with my friend less than enjoyable. I also had to spend a good half hour looking for parking. That was not fun.
We went with a couple from the Mainland who enjoy good food and a place to have good conversations as well as good food, and Cafe Miro was perfect. We took a special bottle of wine because they have a small vineyard of wine grapes at their home and appreciate fine stuff, and the restaurant was exceptionally good about decanting and serving the wine.
There were food choices that worked for everyone. They started with good ingredients, treated them well, spiced them perfectly, and presented them elegantly. The service was informed and attentive, without being over-bearing or making anyone feel rushed.
In our opinion, you would not make a mistake to go there whenever you feel like a modest treat.
