My daughter was shamed because she wanted a salad to start and a vegetable for her entree.
She is vegan and not a lot of options.
Food was outstanding .. so special. Very very attentive service.... definitely a 10!
Wonderful and perfect as always!
Absolutely PERFECT!!!! The entire evening felt super sexy and exclusive as soon as we walked in! Everything was fresh. Great food, great ambiance, great staff, great experience! Cant wait to come back, you guys were AWESOME!
The staff and service is first class
I’ve been going there for years Lavant the manager is wonderful
It’s a must if you’re in the DC area
celebration of new job
Server was not paying attention and neglected to provide what was asked for including a dinner ending coffee. It wasn't on the bill so I didn't bother saying anything. Salads were underwhelming. Steak (filet) tasted as if it had been frozen and had a lot of water content. It also had no flavor. The sauce tasted burnt. The ambience was excellent. Disappointing for a 25 year anniversary dinner. Fortunately we left to go see the Nats baseball game and that was awesome. Ended up eating a hot dog at the game since I only ate 1/3rd of my $50 filet. Hot dog was better.
Another Great Dinner at Cafe Milano
My wife and I look forward to dining at Cafe Milano when traveling to DC.Our waiter Alexi was very helpful and patient with our questions and his recommendations. My wife enjoyed the J&J Salad. She thought the walnuts and the Gorgonzola cheese really added to the flavor. one of the specials was Taglioloni Truffle. I had a half portion as an appetizer (2 grams of truffles.) A little pricey but very tasty.
We both had specials for our entrees. My wife had the Red Snapper which she enjoyed and I had the Royal Risotto which had 2 filets of sea bass and a filet of salmon. A surprisingly large portions of fish which were very tasty.
We enjoyed a bottle of the Adrano Montepulciano.
Another great evening at Cafe Milano.
We are regulars, and usually sit at the bar and have dinner. We usually have fish and sides. We came for my husband's birthday and all of us ordered various dishes, some were specials. The food was not good. At all. I didn't even eat my dinner. It's unfortunate since we came to celebrate a birthday, and we were very disappointed in all of the entrees.
Spend your money else where. Restaurant did not live up to the reviews.
I was told Cafe Milano was a must when coming to DC. It was very lively, loud and frenetic. The food was good not out of this world and honestly it was just to loud for my liking....I’m used to hustle and bustle in NYC but this was just to much.
Service could have been better.
Waiter never asked if I wanted another drink
Lamb chops were served w no mint jelly, no one ever checked?
The food wasn’t anything special and was over priced.
Took freshman daughter out for a nice dinner during parents weekend. Probably a little too nice for her! Service was incredible. Staff was friendly and helpful. Food was delicious. Kids both tried eggplant parm for first time and loved it.
Recommend for date nights, friend get together or special occasions.
Beyond disappointed with this Washington hotspot. For an over $200 tab this was not worth it unless you planned on being rushed through a meal. Our server Marek game countless times to ask if we were ready. If you weren’t he would roll his eyes and make faces. The food was average at best. I ordered the veal chop. Other guests had ravioli and a pizza. The pizza tasted like an olive. The manager told a server assistant to stop serving us water so we would leave. The manager then offers us a drink at their jam packed bar to leave the table. Great move at an over capacity bar. Never ever again, and never would recommend. Guess you have to be a high powered politician or lobbyist to fit in. Anyways, pass on this one.
The food was fresh, delicious and beautifully presented. Very nice wine list. Service was impeccable. Try the chocolate gelato for dessert, best I've had since travelling in Italy.
Wait staff were abrasive initially and repeatedly and quite rudely interrupted our conversation. Ultimately we were served by a waitress who had manners suitable to a fine dining restaurant and she was great. Food was actually quite good. Seems like a place to see and be seen, however. Very noisy and a lot of middle aged men trying to look hip, accompanied by unsuitably young ladies wearing very tight dresses. Maybe Tuesdays are Take Your Daughter To Dinner night, not sure. That said, Georgetown has better options.
Cafe Milano is a lovely restaurant with delish food and ambience. It is a bit noisy but manageable. I took my son and family to Cafe Milano for his 40th birthday. I requested a round table for 10 and got it. It was located in the back of the restaurant where it was quieter. Our server was courteous and attentive. My son was given a birthday dessert with a big sparkler on top. A great time was had by all. My only complaint would be the price tag: quite expensive. Still, I'd go back for a special occasion.
Service was terrible and the restaurant was incredibly loud! It was a real disappointment to the Cafe Milano I know and love. I will not be going back anytime soon sorry to say!
Love this place Newt Gingrich came strolling in with his wife for dinner.
Real Italian food, a rare treat in "Italian" restaurants in America.
Good wine by the glass, another rare treat.
dover sole was just ok. noise level was impossible
My fiancée and I came in on a Thursday night to celebrate our upcoming wedding on Saturday. Cafe Milano did an excellent job making us feel welcome from the moment we came in the door. I had a couple excellent Old Fashioneds at the bar and then ordered the burrata appetizer and lobster linguine entree for dinner. Both were excellent. My fiancée had the walnut salad as an appetizer and the veal and spinach ravioli as an entree. She loved both of them. We split the tiramisu for our dessert. It was delicious. We love eating here and plan to return again in the future.
I think this is a very nice place where you can spend a pleasant time for dinner. A bit expensive (but prices are clearly reported so no surprise). Nothing to say about quality of food. Not abundant the quantity.
If you want to go just so you can say you have eaten at Cafe Milano - go for it. The food was very good, the location is great, the service is fabulous, etc. etc. It's just really expensive. And while it's good - it's not worth the price. If money isn't an object - then go for sure!
We are all Keto Low Carb, and we were able to have amazing green vegetables and gorgeous steak with very good olive oil! The octopus was outstanding in a parley green sauce!
Too much noice and it took much too long to get the food.
No go. Never come back
College send off
Cafe Milano is every bit that special occasion restaurant. The service, excellent; the food really good and beautifully presented; the wine, excellent....... but the prices and the noise level are not for everyone. It is not really a romantic place, though the service was so very good. Unlike some restaurants of this caliber, they did not bring little morsels of this or that to taste. They did bring biscotti at the end (free) because the after-dinner wine ordered was not actually available. In any event, I'm so glad to have been a guest at this special DC restaurant. If only other guests came dressed for the occasion.
Outstanding cuisine and service.
Cafe Milano is a place you can rely on to be high quality and sophistication!
We had a wonderful date night here
Our first visit and it was every bit as exquisite as we expected. A D.C. must....
I love this restaurant and have been here twice in the last month. Food and service and on the first lunch was superb- the second time was not as good as the first. Which could have just been location and wait staff. Pasta was too Al dente - hard to chew. I would still come back as it could have been an off day.
Excellent value during Restaurant Week. A bit pricey, otherwise. But first rate food and service all the time.
Best Italian in DC hands down and best service as well.
One of my favorite restaurants in DC. Recommend anyone looking for a classic Italian cuisine.
It's such a pleasure to see men (waiters, maitre d's in suits) in suits. It enhances the whole experience.
Surprised my wife for our 35th anniversary. When we walked in they congratulated us on our anniversary and brought complimentary glasses of champagne to mark the occasion. The food was outstanding and only out done by the service. They recommended seating outside which was a wonderful choice given the outstanding weather. Once we finished our meal, they offered a tour of the entire restaurant including the second floor private dining area. The comment made was “since you sat outside you didn’t get to see the inside of the restaurant so how about I give you a tour?”. They certainly went above and beyond and I recommend this place to everyone looking for great food and even greater service!
Café Milano is and has been in institution in DC for over 25 years. I’m Italian originally and can tell you that the food there is outstanding and all the pastas are cooked perfectly “ al dente “ that way it’s supposed to be. It’s classy, trendy and has a really nice outdoor dining area for those days that dining al fresco is a must! I’ve been a client of this establishment for 25 years and all of the people who work there have been employed for years and they go out of their way to make sure you have a pleasurable experience.
