Third time here in as many years while visiting Georgetown. Always a great experience. Food and service are superb and consistently good!
Excellent appetizers. Squid ink pasta with seafood was amazing. Desserts were all outstanding
We went for a late lunch to celebrate some good news. The food was outstanding. Pasta bolognese was made to perfection and pasta with clams was delicious. Cappuccino was also excellent.
I made the reservation on open table and noted it was for my daughters 16th birthday. I also confirmed with the restaurant of the occasion. We had the worst possible table in the restaurant, in the back by the exit door with the emergency light shining on us. I am sure my fighter didn’t notice but we as parents were disappointed.
They ran out of Bottle of still water and the napkin was wet for no reason.
It was soooo hot, I was dripping with sweat in front of our guests. They finally turned on the A/C half way through our meal.
The tables were too close together so that it was way too loud! I could not hear across the table. I could only hear the people on either side of me.
They had only one Pinot noir by the glass and it was $22 for a 6 oz glass! Really?!?
Fantastic staff and food, great evening!
The food was “just” okay overall. I, however, was very disappointed with my $65 veal that was bone dry. Service was moderate for a $350 meal for 4.
Atmosphere was extremely nice.
Wow! Great food and people watching.
great restaurant with terrific food and excellent staff
I ordered Branzino which I have had at many restaurants. This is the first time the waiter served it at the table and began to filet the whole fish removing the head, skin, and bones. Given he was doing it, I assumed he would remove all bones. Well, it was full of bones and I wish I had taken the whole fish and done it myself.
It did not meet the quality or flavor of other Branzino...too soft, too buttery. It lost all fish and became mush.
We were excited to try Cafe Milano after investing in a local weekend getaway by successfully submitting the winning bid at the annual scholarship auction for one of the most prestigious elementary schools in the city, where our son is enrolled.
The weekend included an amazing stay and overall experience at the Ritz Carlton Georgetown and inclusive of the package was a generous gift certificate for Cafe Milano. Unfortunately, it felt as if the overall welcome and social experience by the Cafe Milano team was less than engaging except for our server and his direct team.
Although, the Mediterranean Sea Bass was second to none, as long time residents of the city and patrons of some of the finest restaurants in our region, I can honestly say that our plans will not likely find us visiting Cafe Milano again due solely on how “invisible” and the almost dismissive energy from the Management Team. This is the consensus by our entire party, discussed only after we left the restaurant.
Let’s hope this was just an anomaly since, in general, we found the food to be well-prepared and enjoyable.
Service food exceptional only criticism was wine list should have a few more choices in a more moderate price range there was one Bottle of Chianti for 40 which I quite enjoyed but everything else was 60 and up
Unfortunately the dinner at Milano was not a good experience. A friend out of town was visiting and I chose Milano based on the reviews. The food was completely tasteless! It was pricy for what they provided. I had a risotto which was told me by the waiter that it was a speciality. My friend had a pasta that she couldn’t even finish. It was a true disappointment.
Absolutely appalling. Food and service. Server with complete ambivalence towards myself or my colleague. Incorrect food delivered, had to wait 10 minutes for the correct meal while my colleague had to sit and twirl his fork in his Tagliatelle. No pepper or cheese offered and after asking twice, cheese was offered even though I only requested pepper? How about listening and caring about your guests?
This is the most authentic and impressive Italian restaurant that I've been to in ages. It is non-assuming, very proper with waiter/servers who know what they are doing. The food was fresh, authentic and delicious. I love going to Cafe Milano.
Very Nice! A little bit on the rush, but it is one of the best restaurantes we have been in DC. It is a very good choice!!! We shall be back!!
Overall very good. Went for Easter Brunch and had to wait 15 minutes past our reservation time to be seated. Then were seated in an obviously little used room with a much more limited version of the buffet. Service was very nice and attentive.
Tremendous food and great attention to detail. Service and presentation was amazing.
A hit pricey, especially when it comes to the wine and a few of the entrees but really good service and well prepared, tasty food. Not a quiet place, so keep that in mind if looking for a quiet date.
Great menu with lots of choices for Hood Friday. Excellent waitstaff
The service is excellent and the food is delicious. Highest recommendation!
We felt rushed from the time we checked in for our reservation. This restaurant was recommended to us from a friend, however we felt that the staff & servers all had an attitude. We were sightseeing all day & booked a late dinner - looking forward to authentic Italian cusine. The food was just OK, everything was ala carte & very small portions. We had to ask for bread with dinner. The waiters never smiled or looked happy about working there or serving us. We had a small party of 3, however they sat us at a table for 6, so everything was ackward. Wish I could give them a better review, but there was nothing good about this experience except for the decor - it was a pretty restaurant.
Had a dear friend visit from far away and wanted to have a special dinner with her and my family. My friend has cancer, is frail and moves slowly. The maître d' treated her abruptly and rudely. I was embarrassed for her, for me, for all of those around us and uncomfortable the rest of the evening. Won't be going back.
It's an institution for good reason. The quality and taste of the food are always there. The service is always fantastic. It's known for being a scene, but I go with my best friends for a great meal and an excellent place to chat. I go with my husband and kids for a great meal and fantastic service. It truly never gets old.
Have been there several times over the last few years. Loved it the first time or two but it seems to have gone done in quality. It is is very difficult to order due to language barrier and complicated menu. Felt rushed and pressured to order as if they needed to turn the table. Needs more red sauce Pasta item options.
Upscale and sophisticated this restaurant is a refreshing change from the fare available on nearby M Street. We enjoyed the fresh homemade pasta and a nice selection of wines by the glass.
Always good, a favorite
Outstanding service and food quality!
Delightful. The sea bass over risotto with a glass of Pinot Grigio was wonderful. Highly recommended
Always a great meal from beginning to the end-the buratta is probably my favorite only to be matched by the excellent desserts. Can’t go wrong with the lobster linguini or any of the veal.
Wines by the glass are excellent but can get pricey.
It does tend to get noisy, but that adds to the experience. Also prefer to go at the non-peak times because they get slammed-sometimes who is following up with the dessert menu is a little challenge, but usually management is hovering around. It is crowded because it is good and good fun.
I came to Cafe Milano with my family, celebrating a birthday. Adrian was our server who treated us very well and recommended tasty wine. The cod with shrimp over risotto was delicious. I would recommend this restaurant and will come back.
Waited and hour for food, “fresh” noodles came out all undercooked ...they forgot to give me my side dish until I was almost done eating. The playing of the food was unappetizing ..and it just wants worth it at all.
Our daughter visiting from CA.
After several suggestions and research I decided to make Cafe Milano the place I took my girlfriend immediately after I proposed. I called Cafe Milano from my hometown of Birmingham, Alabama 4 days before and spoke to “Stephanie”, told her of my plans and what I was trying to do. She went above and beyond telling me what options I had and what CM was willing to do. Besides a warm greeting on arrival, they ended up printing custom menus with our names, complimentary champagne although we still ordered drinks, and complimentary tiramisu for dessert. Service was top notch and ambiance was very solid. Food did not disappoint. We ordered ravioli and pasta variant and it was everything Italian food should be, simple but wonderful. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone and will look forward to the time we visit again. If you are wondering about going do it!
We have been seated next to the bar twice. It is very loud - but the food is always good.
There on early side with French dining companion. Fish was well prepared.
Food was good but very expensive for what we got. A glass of house red wine was $17.
Mom and Daughter special night out after touring Georgetown- great dining experience... the veal/spinach ravioli was divine!!!!
Outstanding food, wonderful service
