Great place for a late night dinner. The service was outstanding, as always.
The most iconic restaurant in DC - always a wonderful experience.
Food was excellent as always. The service, unfortunately, was the worst we’ve ever experienced at Cafe Milano. We waited 15+ minutes to place a drink order and only then after flagging down the bartender. The rest of the night followed suit. Disappointing.
Wonderful evening. Much appreciated!
Service was absolutely phenomenal. Best Italian food I’ve had outside of Italy!
Food was great, service not so much.
My daughters birthday
Sitting under cover at the side of the restaurant, it was quiet, you felt like you were outside and it was a beautiful Sunday morning. The service and food was A+
Cant miss at Cafe Milano! Always great food and the best staff.
Our server was very knowledgeable and had wonderful wine recommendations. Everything was delicious and beautifully plated.
Service great. All waiters and waitstaff worked well together ensuring myself and others at my table always had still or sparkling water. Salt on tables but no pepper-would think makes sense to have both on table (with pepper being fresh ground)-when ask they gladly come and provide. Tables relatively small and quickly gets crowded with entrees, an appetizer and a few alcohol beverages. Went on a Friday night and had a “lounge” feel to it with lively crowd and decently loud music. Do not expect a quiet intimate place for dining.
Sophisticated Italian food with great service and location.
Very good, fresh tasting meal. Good selection of wines, cocktails & beer. nice, good looking crowd.
Fabulous all around
The food was good but the overall experience was disappointing!!! The waiter was impatient and we felt rushed for spending 500.00! It was clear that the the staff was about turning tables not the customer experience. We have been regular customers for years but likely won’t come back. The high pressure atmosphere is catering to undiscerning tourists who unknowingly get cycled in and out. Unfortunate.
Great food and great waitstaff
Pricey but classy place. Good service from the host, hostess and bartender.
An amazing meal on a beautiful summer night. We dined outside and had a great dinner. From The stuffed zucchini blossoms to the Wagyu steak to the cocktails - all amazing.
Had a wonderful birthday dinner there! The food was delicious and the atmosphere of the restaurant was great.
It was a great dining experience - great and delicious food, fabulous service, and nice atmosphere.
The service was excellent. The menu is outstanding. I could eat there every night trying different items. Last night I had the Tagliatelle Ragu and the Branzino. Both were delicious. We drank a reasonable Chianti Riserva which was also delicious. If you are in DC Cafe Milano is a must!
Well, I had very high expectations for this restaurant. It came highly recommend, but was a complete fail from the beginning. 1. Sat us under and leaky pipe, but then
Moved us to a much NICER table, after asking that we move our table and chairs in the isle, close to a family with 2
Small screaming children, UH NO! 2. The waiter was mostly absent and it took forever to get our cocktails. 3. They never brought bread or olive oil to table until we reminded them 2 times. 4. The first course was tasty but lobster extremely tough and not worthy of the $45 cost. 5. We ordered The fish prepared table side. The waiter hastily prepared it as if he were in an open market seafood shop. Disgusting!! It was FULL
Of bones due to the rush of the preparation and therefore could not be eaten!!!! They did remove from the bill because they FORGOT to bring/order, from the kitchen, our sides that arrived 25 minutes after the fish was butchered!! Bill was $203.00 before tip! We had no entree! Bottom line…….. this restaurant may look good on paper but it’s a total disappointment!! It’s loud, waiters are rushing in all directions
And food was not prepared with the precision of a fine dining establishment… will not be back!! There are many other Italian options in DC area, I suggest you try one of them:)
UPDATE. The day this review posted, I was contacted by the Customer Service Manager for Cafe Milano. She was very apologetic and concerned about my dining experience. (The events of the meal were confirmed. she had spoken with the staff to discuss what went wrong and how it could have been handled differently.)
She offered to send me a gift certificate to return, in the hope that the next visit will go off without a hitch! I agreed, and look forward to giving this restaurant another chance!
This is wonderful customer service and a restaurant that clearly cares about their customers, in my humble opinion! She was so nice and I can’t wait to give it another try:)
Overpriced food. We decided to try the restaurant because of all of the hype. There are SO many less expensive, better tasting Italian restaurants in DC with better service. Some of the food were too salty, others too bland. Mediocre tasting food at best. Glad we tried it just to say “we did it” but won’t be coming back.
Food is incredible!!! Entrees are a bit pricey, but so worth it fir a special occasion.
All of the food and wine was exceptional; service also superb. Our only complaint is probably not rectifiable- it was just too warm in the semi outdoor area where we were seated.
Absolutely out of this world food. The portions are just the right size. Service was excellent. After a noisy, loud party left, the we could have a pleasant conversation among the 4 of our party. The desserts selections was a spectacular way to finish our meal.
The restaurant checked many of the staple fine dining boxes. I appreciate the call during the week to confirm the reservation – the hostess very kind and polite in modifying the reservation from 2 to 3 guests.
The food quality and presentation were very good – particularly the veal ravioli and burrata was excellent.
The timing between courses, cleanliness/maintenance of the table was perfect.
The downside to the experience is the waitstaff not really wanting to be there. We were having such a nice time and the waiter couldn’t have been more gloomy. And it was more than just the waiter it was also the food runners. There was no is this your first time dining here?/food or wine recommendations. We were told to look at a list for specials. And when inquiring about desserts – we were told two favorites – simple the tiramisu and chocolate cake.
I know it is a very difficult time to get servers, dish washers, ext. I just think it is important to know that even when all the other boxes are being met – all it took is the waiter not being warm/happy/passionate to be the impression I have of the restaurant. Also, the communication at the end of the night was poor regarding needing to not be outdoors any longer. I would really recommend having your maître d have those conversations because whoever was telling us we had to go by midnight lacked grace and also seemed like he would rather be another place than there.
Dear EvanC – First and foremost, thank you for your feedback, as this is the best way to keep us on our toes. Before, during and long after the pandemic we will always strive to offer only the best in service, and we are disappointed that we missed the mark on this occasion. Thank you again for helping us improve and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back again very soon. Allyson.
Waitor was not as service oriented as I expected but overall great food.
As always, Milano does not disappoint!!
From soup to nuts it was a great experience.
Service was excellent by Omar. Anniversary celebration and they made it special.
Impecable service and delicious food. Cafe Milano never disappoints
I always love Cafe Milano, Now that they have outdoor seating we can avoid the indoor noise which can be quite loud. Cafe Milano will always be on our list.
We always like coming here. We went there for restaurant week. Value was outstanding. Dessert was outstanding, octopus appetizer was very good, entree was good, but steak was a little tough. Swordish was very good, but pureed chickpeas were a little too thick. Outstanding restaurant, outstanding service and really great waiter. Thank you for a wonderful afternoon!
It’s okay. Nice spot in Georgetown but food was just okay.
It’s always great to dine at Cafe Milano. The food is delicious and the service is amazing! We had dinner there to celebrate our anniversary and they gave us a card and desert on the house, it’s these gestures that make me always want to come back. We also host business dinners in their private dining rooms and they seriously don’t disappoint!
My wife and enjoyed our first experience at Cafe Milano. The food was as we expected, but the service was excellent. We arrived and hour earlier than our reservation, but they they found a way to seat us, even with a packed house. We’ll be back!
Our waiter Umberto made a celebratory evening exceptional. Without a doubt one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had. The attention to detail to each of my guests throughout the evening was TOP NOTCH!
Cafe Milano was a major disappointment. Service and drinks were good. Atmosphere good. However, the food was terrible. On the menu it states that if you are getting pasta to order then please give them 20 minutes for your order....My husband and I both ordered pasta dishes and our food came out in literally 5 minutes! Pasta and lobster seafood way overcooked and chewy. The red sauce in the bolognese had no flavor whatsoever.
Save your money and go elsewhere to eat. Their are many other restaurants to choose from in and near Georgetown. Not worth the prices.
