Disappointing. We dined at Cafe Milano a few years ago and had a lovely meal and experience. The service and food have dropped off tremendously. Unfortunately it's not anything special anymore.

Entree was nothing as described in the menu! Mains: lobster with pasta for $42- lobster was over cooked and pasta was under cooked. The other main was the fillet fish which was very average, can make it at home no need to go out and eat! The exception was that the meals were well seasoned. The dessert eas the standout, tiramisu.
The waiter was annoying and kept recommending things when we didn’t ask for recommendations and then he did not recommend the tiramisu and at the end he said that he would always recommend it as its the best???
He kept hovering around us at the end for a big tip! So not worth it!
Other waiters banging dishes on the table and bumping into our chairs when walking past.
Bad experience, do not go there!

Smaller dishes were excellent. My lamb shank was far too tough and fatty, not to mention somewhat cold, to be worth the $54 price tag. For an otherwise superb night, that was a downer. My dinner companion's dishes were all perfect.

All food was good. It could be great. But it could always be better. The calamari was tastles. The ravioli was quite flat. Lobster fettucini was not very flavorful. Black pasta was of good standard. Good lighting. Mediocre service, never asked how food was.

This used to be a favorite place of ours but definitely not worth the price. The calamari tasted burnt and not simply grilled as described.
The black cod tasted poorly with a very fishy aftertaste and not the quality I had hoped for.
The menu could use an update as well.
Our server was wonderful as always and we enjoy the atmosphere, but the quality of the food definitely has got downhill.

Obviously the extremely busy night contributed to the food being average. Both Pasta dishes were Luke warm. Both also were clumpy in other words the pasta was sticking and was probably prepped ahead of time due to the over booking of patrons.A lot of people were waiting for tables. On a good note the service was very good.

Do not accept a table in the “upstairs dining room”. We went for a very special Christmas Eve dinner and were terribly disappointed. We had a reservation but they didn’t have a table in the regular dining room. We were told the upstairs dining was particularly special and very festive. This was completely untrue. It was cold, corporate, and stark. Nothing of the charm of Cafe Milano (which is the entire reason we went). And to top it off, the service was awful! The waiter took 15 minutes to show up, then another 10 min to bring a wine list, left the table half way through taking my husband’s order (he was in mid-sentence) and brought out the wrong burrata dish. We had to ask for bread three times before any arrived. The food was great but the overall experience was terrible. We had been having a rough holiday season and we chose the restaurant as a bright spot that would be reliably good. Very disappointing!

Cafe Milano is a place to see and be seen. It's sleek and stylish. The food lives up to the hype pasta with wild boar and Branzino in salt were my favorites this visit. One bummer was our wait person who didn't listen and was more interested in looking cool than giving good service. He was confused by my wife and I asking to share a salad, pasta and entre to get three courses and walked away thinking that was it for a table of 5 (including three college boys who can all eat a whole cow) . Our pastas arrived for the boys and our fish sat encased in salt on a mobile cart for too long waiting for some suave guy to filet it....it meant our boys had to wait while their food got cold. Our smartly dressed waiter in his black suit and fancy tie breezed by often but was nearly impossible to stop. I should have complained rather I left a message with his somewhat modest gratuity.

You never know who will show up at Milano. Tonight it was a Cabinet Secretary, his wife and entourage, and Secret Service detail. And next to us we met a table of harassment victims of a notable former media bigwig, many of whom who out of town visitors. Great food, service and ambiance always.

We get to DC 3 or 4 times a year and make it a point to visit Café Milano. My wife enjoyed the Lentil soup and I had a half order of the TAGLIATELLE Pasta with truffles which was delicious. My wife had the Black Cod and I had the Branzino. They were both delicious. We finished by sharing a Tiramisu. As always we had a great evening. We will ask for Omar in the future. He was very helpful.

Every personal touch in this establishment pays tribute to fine dining -- from the otherworldly quality of the table linens to the jaw-dropping consistency of and ingredients in the sauce. Small tomatoes glisten with perfection, delicate fungi are paired with watercress, and expertly prepared pasta manages to be both filling and light at the same time -- but all are flavorful and memorable. Waiters are warm and attentive without being heavy-handed nuisances. While not for cheapskates, when the bill comes it all somehow seems quite reasonable for the experience. I can still savor the wine in my mind's eye. Loveliness abounds.

The noise level was so high that conversation across a table for two was difficult.
From the table in the corner of the windows I enjoyed an unimpeded view of the splendid Christmas tree outside.
Valet parking service would be desirable. Having to walk up and down the ramp in the garage adjacent to the restaurant and having to pay $18 might discourage some customers from returning.

seating is awfully arranged. The table next to us could barely move and same with us; small portions; was expecting more variety; our bill was off by $100 and to fix it the manager only took off $30, how do you make that mistake and rectify it with comping us $30? We had to be elsewhere and I wasn't trying to ruin the night so we left. Instead of linguine they put spaghetti in as pasta and when pointed out said it would take an extra 15 min to recreate it, which didn't happen as the waiter said it might take longer. Then lobster was added to our bill which I never asked for or received- and then charged me for it?? I ordered lamb!! The waiter then said that he could make up for all that was was wrong by comp'ing the desserts-that never happened. Was really looking forward to taking my husband out for a special birthday at this place and was extremely disappointed.
