Fernando was excellent as well as the rest of the staff and the food was absolutely amazing!! Perfect date night for any special occasion!!
Meh. Food was very good but not worth the price. Service was erratic. Loud.
Came for a birthday lunch. Appreciated our table in a quiet spot and their remembering special occasion by bringing a piece of tiramisu and a candle. Considering that the restaurant was not full, surprised it took so long for food to arrive but we’ll worth the wait.
Cafe Milano has been a DC fave of mine for the last ten years at the least. They never disappoint. Today, I had a pasta with a saffron sauce and crispy bone marrow along with some wonderful buttered broccolini, fabulous bread with soft center and crusty crust with beautiful EVOO, and a cappuccino that I adored. The restaurant comped us a tray of dessert cookies and candy that was fabulous - at least 6 different kinds of cookies from chocolate chips to dark chocolate squares with pepper, meringues, and some biscotti that when dipped in the cappuccinos were just delectable. My companion had a veal chop, still on the bone but pounded flat that was so good, he didn't want to share! Cafe Milano is a great (not pretty good or good but GREAT) restaurant. I wouldn't dream of eating anywhere else!
We couldn't have been happier with our experience. The food and service were superb. We were seated in the smaller dining room to the left of the front door and it was great. The noise level was low which allowed for easy conversation for us. Some might prefer sitting in the larger dining room to be seen or see someone of celebrity, but the only person I cared about was the gorgeous lady sitting across from me, and I could see and hear her just fine!
Wonderful romantic place in Georgetown. Food was truly outstanding, though portions were smaller (actually a good thing) and expensive. Not the place for every dining out event due to those costs but for an annual night out it was great!
We had an 8pm reservation on a busy Friday night but due to a change in plans showed up over one hour early. They not only cheerfully accommodated us, they even gave us an excellent table. Food and service were also excellent.
Cafe Milano is always my “go to” dining spot in Georgetown. Food is great, service is wonderful, and atmosphere is fun and lively!
Overall an excellent experience. Highly recommend
Food was ok, but they purposively stuck us at a table in front of the door to a private dining room with a noisy wedding going on. They surrounded our table with service tables piled with food. Because of the tight space they constantly bumped into our table and knock our belongings on the floor. And the noise from the wedding party was unbearable. A terrible experience with not a word of apology from staff or management. We will never go back!!
As New Yorkers, we are accustomed to excellent trattoria-style Italian food, and Cafe Milano serves a very good version of this cuisine. Our only reservations about the restaurant are, first, that the ambiance is nothing special; second, that as well-dressed but first-time patrons, we felt a certain "welcome stranger" attitude in being seated amidst empty tables in a corner of the restaurant, where we were soon joined by a couple with a very young child; and third, that by New York standards, certainly, the food, while very good, is significantly overpriced. That said, the restaurant was very full on a Saturday night, so they are obviously charging what the traffic will bear.
Love this restaurant. The service was superb and the food was even better.
From start to finish, Cafe Milano was the perfect place for our family celebration. The food was outstanding and the entire wait staff was attentive without being intrusive.
Outstanding service and delicious food! Perfect afternoon spent with family!
My favorite spot in DC
Everything was perfect —as always......
Sandi was a wonderful server....
We have gone to Cafe Milano for many years; this meal was a terrible disappointment. We first had trouble with them on our previous visit, when we couldn't order pizza because their pizza oven wasn't functioning. But it apparently was never restored, because the pizza we ordered - which used to be one of our favorites -- was terrible. It was served cold and undercooked; we sent it back and it came back only warmed up and still terrible! The "Prosciutto" topping was tough and chewy, and the cheese tasteless. One other order -- seafood with risotto -- also came cold. When we complained, it was just heated up and then served on the same plate, but now so overcooked that the seafood was inedible. Only one dish we ordered out of three (lobster linguini) was up to expected quality. Moreover, service was surprisingly poor. We asked for still and sparkling water for the table; we only got sparkling and had to ask twice for still. We requested butter for our bread; 15 minutes later we had to ask again to get it. Waiters who took our bad dishes back were not apologetic, as if they were used to this and considered it unremarkable. And since they just heated up the same dish without regard to ingredients or outcome, they were not much help. Overall, an AWFUL dining experience, at a very high price. We would now be embarrassed to take any guests there, after years of being proud to do so.
Had to tip someone to get them to honor RSVP
Everything about Cafe Milano is great! The atmosphere, service, cuisine & wine are A+ (even a cigar, outside, is welcome). We ate like many of our Italian friends do, & shared an appetizer, salad, pasta, a meat dish & a little gelato. Our experience, as always, was amazing!!!
A fabulous spot in Georgetown to see and be seen. Service was excellent but the food was average in quality. All in out party had fish and while the presentation was lovely, the entrees were just satisfactory. I was disappointed with the house Chardonnay by the glass. It was definitely not the quality befitting this level of establishment.
Still, I’d be back in a New York minute because of the coolness factor.
All around great dining experience! Food and service excellent. Our group of 5 thoroughly enjoyed the evening.
We showed up for our reservation at 8:30pm this past Saturday, 10/26, and we had to wait more than 20 minutes to be seated. What’s the point of making a reservation? In addition, I’m 8.5 months pregnant, and no one offered us anywhere else to sit in the meantime.
Once we were finally seated, we were placed near an opened wall towards the front entrance of the restaurant where servers and other customers were constantly walking past our table and bumping into the backs of our chairs. Our own server knocked my Louis Vuitton purse off of the back of my chair multiple times and never bothered to pick it up. Also worth mentioning was my husband and our friends ordered drinks, and the server forgot one of the drinks. When we asked him where it was he proceeded to argue with us that no such drink order had ever been placed. He was extremely rude and seemed disinterested in serving our table with the same “effort” he appeared to put forth with the tables around us.
We picked Cafe Milano based on its reputation as we came with another couple who just moved to the area and wanted to show them a great evening with great food. There was much to celebrate with them purchasing a new home and us with our first baby on the way, and Cafe Milano not only ruined our expectations for the evening, but also ruined our dining experience. Needless to say we won’t be returning, and we will be telling others of this awful experience with such a “highly recommended” restaurant. Terrible.
An unforgettable meal during vacation in the DC area. Don’t miss the risotto with white truffles - it was the highlight of the meal. Three spectacular pasta dishes - Fettuccine Alfredo, Gnocchetti, and Linguine with Lobster. And ending with the best Tiramisu and Pistachio Gelato we’ve ever had! Quite an eating experience!
We had a great time. Nice welcome. Bar was lively and fun as we waited for our party. Our waiter was excellent, including his wine recommendation. The menu choices provided a lot of options. My wife had delicious lamb chops and I had an equally delicious veal chop. Sprung for dessert which we don't usually do and were not disappointed. Great spot for people watching. Service and vibe were wonderful.
Celebrating my daughter’s play
Always outstanding! Awesome food and service! Perfect evening!
This restaurant is a must visit. Their service is phenomenal with attentive and friendly staff who are only second to their food. The gnochetti is better than some I’ve had in Italy. I’m in DC for work often and will take friends and colleagues here anytime possible. You will not regret a meal at Café Milano.
We had a great experience in Milano: good food, professional staff and a very nice atmosphere. We would recommend this restaurant to anybody. And we will be back, too!
Delicious food fait-maison pasta did not disappoint, excellent white truffle special
Excellent service, food and wine, although the mark-up on the latter was a bit excessive,
While the service was very good, we were not overly impressed with the food. The appetizers (we had the octopus, the calamari and the burrata), the mains were a bit disappointing (veal Milanese, beef short ribs and the signature pasta dish with seafood). Ambience was fine but nothing amazing either
OUTSTANDING!!!! A place to see and be seen. Food is excellent and the wine list is better than many of the other restaurants in DC.
Always enjoy Cafe Milano, been there 1/2 dozen times in last 3 years. Service is usually great, not tonight because of large party seated next to us. We were a party of 2 and somewhat forgotten. For usually great but was good, not great this time. Always a busy, buzzing atmosphere.
By far the BEST Italian restaurant is Georgetown. Everything is always fresh, the white truffle pasta and thinly sliced Parma was delicious. Hot bread with silky olive oil and the best meatballs and sauce anywhere. The Dover sole and snapper were perfectly prepared and the dark chocolate gelato was a perfect end to the meal. The service is impeccable and the buzz is always fun. We will be back as soon as we can. Love love love Cafe Milano
We had a reservation for 7:45 and we were taking out our son out for Family college weekend. We waited an hour to be seated as more important people came in. It was beyond frustrating.
Great food excellent service.
- the pounded veal is out of this world!
The best! Will eat here every time I’m in Washington, Tim G
Good service, but too crowded with tables too close to each other. Food as you would expect for this price class, nothing more.
