Cafe Maxx offers indoor or outdoor seating. The menu was hard to choose from because everything looked very interesting in terms of accompaniments with the main dish my appetizer shrimp paired with sweet mashed potatoes was a great combination with the roasted vegetables surrounding it.
It was great to see a nice restaurant like Cafe Max offered on restaurant month because it was a great value and I definitely would recommend it to people who either live in the area or a visiting the area.
One of our favorite restaurants! They have a great selection on the menu and EVERYTHING is so delicious . The restaurant displays a very simple yet welcoming feel to it leaving the food to be the star. The bar makes a mean Cosmo also and they have a wonderful wine list. Some of our favorite dishes are the BBQ Asian Meatballs, Pasta Bolognese and for desert the Carrot Cake with a Tropical flair. Every time we visit we are trying to have something different which usually tops our last plate.
the crestaurant month CraveFL menu offered plenty of options. the carpaccio app was orgasmic to the tongue. the butterflied pork loin was delicious but the carpaccio was a hard act to follow. the strawberry shortcake dessert proves this is a civilized restaurant if bacon cannot.
The brunch menu was exceptional and amazing. Truly
Normally my favorite restaurant as a 30 year resident, The ambiance was ruined by two large tables that created a cacophonous atmosphere. Disappointing, Dr. Tim Benoit
Large portions , great food. A bit overpriced
We came to Pompano Beach to meet up with friends. I noticed the tuna sashimi pizza online and it looked very interesting. It was and did not disappoint! WOW, is all I can say. My friend got the petite filet and it was excellent as was the snapper. Nice place, great food and drink
Birthday dinner. Great food and service!
Our group of 6 enjoyed everything. We went during the $35 3-course meal deal period. Have eaten there twice before and paid regular price. Always a great meal experience.
This is our favorite south Florida restaurant! The food & service are consistently excellent - never a disappointment. We particularly love what they do with fish!
everything was fine...except paying $18 for a martini.
I have been coming here since it first opened as Cafe Max. Come with a party of five who all live in the Boca /Delray area. Tried the Crave 2019 special.
They have a very extensive menu for a 3 course $35 price.
I started with Banana Lime Grilled Shrimp, sweet mash, tropical salsa & crispy plantain, very good . My wife opted for the Café Maxx Caesar Salad, grated Reggiano, garlic croutons & shaved prosciutto, also very good.
For mains, my wife ordered the Banana & Mixed Nut Crusted Fish of the Day, sweet mashed potatoes, tropical fruit salsa & plantain, excellent dish. I had the Mixed Berry Glazed & Grilled Breast of Duck, Israeli couscous & a natural sauce, nice dish.
They always have had a great wine list.
This place is a keeper please ask for Sabrina the waitress go for Sunday brunch it’s incredible
Menu posted on line was not reflective of what was actually being offered at the restaurant. We reserved a table specifically to enjoy the scallops entree described on the Neighborhood Nights menu and it was not available. Otherwise, as usual, the food was great and service was excellent.
Cathy, thank you for your review. Please accept our apology regarding the menu. We recently added a new member to our team and we were in the process of training her during these dates. Thank you for your patience and we hope to have you again soon!
Generally disappointing. Everything was passable. Nothing was even very good. Sauces were heavy and on the nose. For the money in 2019 I expect a lot more. Ceaser salad was good. Lobster Pot Pie (sounds interesting doesn’t it) was not good. Rubber lobster in a dark brown gravy and an undercooked, soggy crust. So many mushrooms.
Tried my wife’s Salmon. Fish was well cooked if bland. The other couple had similar feelings. We met there because it is half way between Fort Lauderdale and BOCA and 15 years ago when I last ate here it was good. Oh well.
this way my first time participating in a wine tasting at cafe maxx and i surely will be planning to do that again.. the wine tasting and other classes are special events that i think are booked by phone. once i had booked the wine tasting i booked a dinner there to follow and planned to order something italian on the menu after buying the best bottle i tried in the tasting. i thought the italian wine tasting event would only have some bits like olives and prosciutto and parmeggiano crumbles as pairings to wash down with the italian wines. INSTEAD WE WERE TREATED TO A SMALL 3 COURSE GOURMET MEAL! the booking for dinner after tasting wines was therefore unnecessary so i cancelled it at the end of the tasting, but fortunately cafe maxx knew this and told opentable i attended my dinner booking. finally the wine tasting hosts sold me several bottles of the wines i liked the best, which i plan to come back to pick up, naturally booking with opentable and opening one of the bottles at dinner there, which is probably not against the corkage policy!
We have been to Cafe Maxx many times in the past. The food is always amazing as is the service. My husband and I both felt that the restaurant could stand an update. It is very tired and dated.
The scallops were perfect. The tuna sashimi pizza was great! I cannot wait to try some additional menu items.
We regularly dine at this restaurant, and it's one of our favorites. However, this particular night was "off".
We came in to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the moon landing and in the spirit of things tried the "moon menu". The Julia Childs inspired escargot stuffed mushrooms were great! My husband and I were sharing the dishes, so we decided to try the grouper special followed by the lamb special. First the lamb came out. Usually the fish would come out first in the sequence, but we just accepted it. We asked for it to be cooked medium well, clarifying "a little pink in the middle". They came out rare. We showed the dish to the waiter who took it back to the kitchen. Next came the fish dish. It was almost raw. We returned it back to the kitchen with the waiter. The lamb dish returned, cooked a little more, but not medium well. We showed it to the waiter, but ate it anyway. We were tired of sending the dishes back, and a little frustrated since one of them held a $50 price tag. Finally, the fish dish returned and it was fine. It just put a little damper on the night. Any restaurant can have an off night; even the best of them. Perhaps there was some one new in the kitchen. Since this was one of multiple times, we will return.
Excellent food and service. Our waiter, Ryan was amazing. He is very knowledgeable, friendly and service oriented to make your evening a beautiful dining experience. Cannot wait to return to try more tasty selections.
i ate an excellent dinner. the seared tuna main was excellent.
Still great after all these years. Like a trip down memory lane.
We used to frequent this great restaurant in the 1980s and early 90s. It was a favorite among south Florida's then burgeoning nouvelle cuisine scene.
Now only one of a few restaurants from that era still in operation we were pleasantly surprised to find owner Daryl and Chef Oilver still at the helm and delivering the same great food, service and atmosphere as they ever did.
Thanks guys for all the great memories.
The pasta I ordered was to have come with peas, but they were missing. My husband ordered a black grouper for his entree and the fish was raw in the middle
Very good food and service. Would recommend this restaurant to friends
Excellent meal!! One of
The best meals in south florida
Fabulous Father’s Day brunch - thank you as always Darrel! 😇😇😇
Pricey but the fate is inventive with a diversity of menu items.
The service is the best. I loved that as I was taking my first bite of food, our server didn't rush up to ask if everything is is alright. That said, she did check on us to make sure we were satisfied.
Too full for dessert. Will try next time.
Best food in Broward! Professional gracious service....always a pleasure
Cafe Maxx continues to be at the top of the Fort Lauderdale/Pompano Beach restaurants. Consistently great food!
We have been going there since the 80’s and they do not disappoint!
The Tuna Sashimi Pizza is truly heaven on earth!!!
We have gone there just to eat that!!!
Cannot get much better than Cafe Max. Loved the ambiance, we watched the Preakness. The bartender put it on for us when we walked in. Very friendly. The food and service was in a word...perfect.
Excellent food excellent service
The food is fresh and good. People are friendly. I love the food behind the glass so you can see the unique meats, poultry and fish.
Food overall was excellent as well as the service. The only negative were the desserts. We ordered the pecan pie and carrot cake. Both were just average. A little on the pricey side but will definitely go back.
Excellent food and service. Will definitely return
What a surprise! Food was amazing and the staff was wonderful. Buffalo Cauliflower was off the charts. Carpaccio was terrific. Best lamb chops I’ve had in a long time.
Excellent food.. great ambiance. Great service Expensive
Beautiful restaurant, delicious meal and great service! Highly recommend! Loved the Brussel sprouts and yellow tail. The carrot cake was also delicious! Valet parking
