Café Matt and Meera treats those in Hoboken to cosmopolitan Indian cuisine in a bistro setting. Guests can come in and discover small plate specialties and snacks to share or dive into sandwiches, burgers, salads and more. If you're stopping in for a quick lunch, make sure to check out the kati rolls or naan pizza for authentic flavors that are made to order.
Café Matt and Meera provides an extensive appetizer menu that includes samosa, kale pakoras, grilled chicken wings and crispy prawns. Those looking for more filling fare will want to try the lamb burger or the chicken tikka naan sandwich. Café Matt and Meera also offers a range of vegetarian, vegan options and gluten-free choices.
After having trouble finding a table for 7 on Mother's Day, we found Matt & Meera Cafe. The menu was varied and innovative. Each of us loved our meal. The naanchos were fun. Attentive service
Great tip from our JC friends - Uber to Hoboken so as to not have to find parking
Our second time there. Both meals were outstanding
We visit here frequently for the regular menu, which is always delicious (especially the fish tikka). Tried the prix fix menu for Valentine's Day and the fish was amazing. They were super busy but we didn't mind the longer wait time as it gave us more time to sit and relax while the sitter had the kid! Normally service is much faster, but totally understand since it was Valentine's Day. Highly recommend this place, especially with kids on an early evening.
Went here with my husband and another couple on a Saturday - loved the food (naan-chos were awesome!!) and the warm, inviting ambiance was perfect for catching up with old friends. BYOB kept the price down which always helps. Overall just a great, solid experience, we will go back whenever the next curry craving starts. Not a late-night spot from what I gather...the place cleared out and we were the only table left by about 10 or 10:30.
We had a great experience at Matt & Meera. The food was really great - samosas, garlic naan, and chicken biryani were all really tasty and nicely presented, and the rose creme brulee was a very creative take on a favorite; there were lots of options for those who love Indian food and others for folks who are less familiar.
Service was warm and attentive but not annoying. The seats were spread nicely and offered good privacy. The environment was upbeat but not loud or irritating. Bringing our own wine really made this a great value. We would absolutely come back and would recommend this place to others.
We've been here a few times with friends and between us we love the naanchos, wraps, fish tikka, butter chicken, chana masala.... It is BYO, so if you want a drink grab one on the way in. Great little place!
The paneer mint pizza was my favorite
My friends loved their dishes however I did not and had order envy. The service was slow and the ambiance was terrible. There was a large group of obnoxiously loud people who did not lower their volume after repeated reminders from management and other patrons. At some point their gang mentality lead them to crowd our table after we told them to "please lower" their volume. The manager later told us that he had them in his restaurant before and they have caused trouble however he was choosing to be passive and let them dine.
I always wanted to try this place from last year and so I did with my friends. Its a BYOB so make sure you have a few bottles of wine. The food, ambience and service was excellent. Me and my friends where last ones to leave and not rushed in any manner. We are foodies and this like a Mecca for food lovers. Presentation was awesome! Highly recommend. Plan to frequent this place any time we decide to meet in Jersey City or Hoboken.
Fresh, delicious & healthy modern Indian food. The staff is so nice too. We go there often, and really enjoy it! It's BYOB, so make sure to bring some nice wine :)
The food was definitely good. The service was really slow and leaves much to be desired.
This was my first time at his restaurant. I was drawn there due to the uniqueness of their menu when I looked online. I have been to many great Indian restaurants, but none that feature many of the unique and creative dishes here. The food was amazing! We shared appetizers and then each got our own entree. The service was also excellent. Every staff person was kind, friendly, and humble. This is the best Indian restaurant I have ever been to! I highly recommend it :)
I have discovered this little gem in Hoboken that replaced Kati Roll a month ago: Matt & Meera. At first, we were not sure what we would get there as the name did not really indicate anything in particular. I was not even sure it would be a restaurant!
We went a first time and it was so good that we came back! The first time, I was lucky to meet one of the owners Chef Hari Nayak who wrote several cookbooks. He told me that the idea was to put together American and Indian cuisine, bring Indian spices and twist to American classics. In fact, the name itself is made of a common name in the US (Matt) and a common name in India (Meera): these people do not exist and only represent...

Very good food. Interesting concepts regarding Indian fusion. The lamb kebabs w cheese were delicious, but got a little heavy at the end. The nachos were delicious. Service was good and overall a delicious and fun experience.
Dinner on Friday night at 6:30 pm started well: attentive and prompt service, fast and tasty appetizers. Then, as the restaurant filled up, it went downhill. Main courses were good except for the Tandoori Lamb that was so salty that one guest returned it and got a replacement dish. Oddly, they were "out of" lamb shank at 6:45 pm when we first ordered. Rosemary naan was delicious. By 8:00 pm it was a mob scene and the service fell apart. We waited 30 minutes for an order of bread pudding (with a candle--it was a birthday--and when we went up to the desk to cancel the order, they apologized and brought it out. We knew that paying the bill would take forever, so again we went up to the desk to pay. I'd go back to Matt and Meara because the food is interesting and mostly good but beware of the service on a Friday night.
