   Everything about our experience was amazing! Our server Adrian took extra care explaining the menu and the food choices for the evening, as this was our first dining experience at Matisse. The food was out of this world, paired well with a beautiful and colorful dining room. Overall a must try in the area

   Have not been to this restaurant in a few years, but it was just as delicious as I remembered and the service was even better than I remembered. Was truly a lovely evening and exceptional dining experience. Looking forward to going back for another memorable night soon.

    Cafe Matisse is a spectacular place to celebrate any occasion. The four course menu was outstanding and there were just enough options to choose from. Service was impeccable. Adrien our server paid close attention to our needs without being overbearing. The ambience is very nice, great place for a romantic dinner!

    Such a cool, unique ambiance at this restaurant. Have always wanted to go for 20 years now and finally got the chance to take a great friend out for their birthday here. Food was sublime with every precious bite. The portions as with any high scale institution many may call small but they were perfect for me and my date and being there were 3 courses before dessert, we left feeling perfectly entertained by the atmosphere and incredible tastes but not too full so we could still enjoy the rest of the evening. Will definitely recommend.

    My second time dining here, first time was about 5 years ago. Why did I wait so long to return🤦🏻‍♀️Food is amazing! The pairings for each coarse compliment each other perfectly. This is not your typical dining experience, I think that is why I enjoy it so. Service is also exceptional. Might be slightly pricey but worth it. Looking forward to returning in warmer weather to eat outside in the garden.

    4 course dinner, $125 pp, choice of 3 for each, menu is seasonal, 2 seatings, one at 5 the other at 7:30, everything exceptionally prepared, great meld of flavors, there was a $15 supplement for foie gras with the venison medallion that I had, and it's BYOB, highly recommend.

    Cafe Matisse is definitely a special occasion restaurant. We have been going for years and each time is a wonderful experience. The menu is small and the plate combinations are unique. The atmosphere is warm, cozy and inviting. It’s BYO which helps as the price is $$$$. The service is attentive but not pushy. The menu changes periodically so check out the website before going. One of our favorites.

    A local fine dining destination in Rutherford for over two decades and still going strong! Peter Loria continues to amaze with seasonal inventive cuisine. The dining room and garden are unique in their decor and an absolutely charming space. The lively staff is attentive but not intrusive, however, the retirement of long time Maitre D' Larry Falcone is sorely missed. This is a go to place that never disappoints.

    We were lucky to get a last minute reservation and the experience equaled the expectations. Don’t be in a rush. This 4 course meal is served with plenty of time to savor the meal, have some conversation, and enjoy your BYOB. Everyone is seated, orders and is served about the same time for each table. Excellent attentive service. Delicious food. Enough noise so you wouldn’t eavesdrop your neighbor but quiet enough to have a normal conversation. Parking was no problem.

    Cafe Matisse is not for everyone or for ordinary nights. It is expensive, and the food is sophisticated, but worth it. The dining room is beautiful, the service is excellent (no shortage of help here, and the staff is well trained), and the food is gourmet and beautifully presented. The restaurant offers a set tasting menu of four courses, which varies by the season. I am vegetarian, and though there were no non-meat or fish choices other than desserts, the restaurant accommodated me by removing any meat or fish from the dishes in the kitchen before serving them. Also, the restaurant is BYOB, but there is no corkage fee. My rating of the sound level, by the way, was due to one rather noisy table, which in a small dining room can make a difference. I think the sound level would be usually be moderate under normal conditions.

    Highly recommend Cafe Matisse! It is definitely a special and memorable place. Chef Peter deserves a Michelin star. It is truly an experience, food was out of this world. My husband and I were comparing it to Michelin restaurants we’ve dined at in the past. We can’t wait to go back!

    We celebrated my girlfriends birthday and I can't say enough great things about Café Matisse! The decor is chic and so romantic. Our server Adrian was superb! Chef Peter is amazing...what he has put together the creativity is out of this world! Each dish was better than the next! We can't wait to go back for another outrageous dining experience! Thank you Café Matisse for an absolutely amazing night out!
