Cafe Martorano Ratings and Reviews
Everything for dinner was great. Went to bar after dinner received two drinks from Susie S there was two other bartenders there, and not one them ask if we wanted another drink, and never even made eye contact with us, so we left and went some where that appreciated there customers and not taken for granated
I had been looking forward to my first meal at Martorano’s for quite some time. As a Sicilian/American myself Steve’s story is one that I can relate to especially when it comes to food. I was almost worried that I had built it up in my head so much that it may be disappointing, but I am very happy to say that the meal was absolutely fantastic! I had the best linguini and clams I have ever had (my favorite) the pasta and the clams were cooked perfectly. To me good Italian food is about tradition and the best ingredients and it’s obvious to me that Martorano’s shares this same mentality.
My wife and I came in on a Sunday evening and it was decently packed. The manager gave us an option of whether I wanted sit up top or on the floor adjacent to the bar, ended up taking the table up top. Dylan was our server and he was fantastic. Made great recommendations - ended up doing a Martorano salad to split, a Veal Marsala and a Chicken Parm - all of which was phenomenal. Only wish was that we had room for dessert! Two thumbs up for this Ft Lauderdale favorite.
I would like the owner to know I did not touch my pasta because pasta dough was very thick. I offer my sincere advise that he may truly consider substituting for a thin light pasta that’s not heavy and does not stick to one another making it difficult to eat and feel like lead on your stomach. The place is great - appetizers and other entrees wonderful with great service lacking the one item I ordered.
Once again Martorano's rules! The best restaurant for Italian food or virtually any other. The Sicilian Slice is so good, you taste it for a month after! Fresh cheese, pepperoni and bread. Has to be experienced to know, indescribable. Giant Meatball. Chicken Part unlike any other, yes it's THAT AMAZING! Philly Cheesesteak with garnishes and fries that are in their own universe of taste. Steve blends flavors with a talent the truly makes him a GREAT, a visionary and a master Italian chef. I wish they had the Apple Crisp the night we recently visited but understand that the dessert menu changes. This is not a bad thing because ALL of their desserts are incredible, I'm just a fanatic for the Apple Crisp!! You have never tasted any Apple dessert as good as Martorano's until you taste theirs, it's #1+. Another great visit, will be back soon as we are regulars. Thank you Steve. THE BEST!
Excellent Italian food made fresh and hot. We were fortunate to have Steve Martorano cooking the night we were there. he couldn't have been friendlier, even giving us some samples of some of the food he was cooking that night. There were five of us that night, and we all loved our meals.
Cafe Martorano's never disappoints! But be smart when ordering - share everything because you will roll out of there otherwise. Great wine list and cocktails. Meatball salad, eggplant stack, Fried calamari Bibzy is great and I am not a big fan of calamari but this is delicious. I never order chicken parm but my niece does and I've tried it - fabulous. I have taken multiple out of town guests here - men and women and everyone has LOVED it. Warning - it is LOUD especially on the weekends, so if you want to have a intimate conversation or a business meeting, forget it.
Lack luster service....super long wait to order anything along with cocktails, then the server asks us if we’re ready to order. Had to remind him he didn’t want to take our order because he was fetching out drinks..,whaaat?? Oh and make sure you know all that you want to order because they only place one food order per table...I smelled arrogance in the air, not good...Come on... mentioned husbands birthday in open table reso and reminded when martoranos called me to confirm. Dropped the ball on the Birthday. Probably won’t be returning...more hype than its worth.
Imagine driving in South Florida and ending up in Rome? At the best restaurant in Italy? Then take it a few notches higher and you've arrived at Martorano's! Yes, it's THAT good and is the best Italian restaurant on earth. It's actually one of the best restraints in any style food. The Sicilian Slice with pepperoni. Giant Meatball with salad. Fresh, hand crafted macaroni. Apple Crisp dessert. The list goes on. You have to eat at Martorano's [at least once in your life] to know how great it really tastes. THE BEST! Thank you Steve & Marsha..
We met a friend at the restaurant for drinks and dinner,
We ordered drinks and the bartender was almost offensive when we asked for a southern comfort Manhattan.
The food was very good, the waiter was excellent the problem was the very second we sat down for dinner after waiting an hour the loudest music came on and there was no way we could have a conversation with the table, our bill was almost $800.00.
We asked if there was anyway the music could be turned down a bit and the other server said ,"thats not going to happen"
No , I'm not sure I'd recommend it, if your going to serve dinner that late, then the music should follow along.
There was no dance floor to be had, didnt make sense.
People who looked like they were from a 1977 college keg party were enjoying a playlist that could have been from then, but the truth is the volume makes this the worst first date restaurant ever. The food was good, but not as great as I remembered. The meatball was excellent but has shrunk, the carbonara no better than a half dozen other restaurants in town, and the eggplant good but forgettable. The junior waiter was sloppy, and no server could hear or be heard over the comically loud music. I won’t be back for a long time. I’ve been before, and the food made the nonsense worthwhile; not any more. Fuggetaboutit
My last visit to Cafe M was a long time ago when seats were few and Steve decided what we were eating. This visit the place had quadrupled in size, menu options and decibel level. Service was still outstanding, as was the pasta...but I believe I’ve ‘aged out’ as a diner. We were seated at 7:30, and there was absolutely no way to converse with your dining partner. If you’re still around at 9PM (in this case on Thursday) the music and disco lighting seriously conflict with dining enjoyment ...we were literally vibrating.
It’s a younger place now, and people were dancing and having a great time, so if that’s your thing, by all means go and enjoy some great Italian! I’m handing Cafe M off to a younger crowd...and feeling nostalgic for the good old days...
This restaurant was highly recommended and it was highly disappointing.
Thought there would be southern Italian flair, it was not and the menu was limited, so we tried to make the best of it.
The wait staff is highly trained in deception - when we sat down, we were immediately asked if we wanted water, "flat or sparkling"? I replied flat, ice water with lemon, assuming tap water.
They brought out an open bottle of water, the same that was on every table. I have seen water served this way as well as with other types of bottles in many restaurants - $7 on the bill.
My wife ordered the linguini with clams as her main dish. The waiter said they didn't have any clams because it was too cold up north - seriously? Every restaurant has clams.
She then ordered the meatball (highly salty) with pasta in a red sauce (gravy) and it came out with very little marinara sauce. She asked for some more sauce - "no problem" the waiter said and he proceeded to bring more. Result - $6 on the bill.
To me this is being "nickeled and dimed".
I would never eat in this restaurant ever again.
The food is outstanding . You will never be disappointed with Steve’s dishes. He uses only the best and freshest ingredients in his preparation.
The vibe is upbeat and the service is always top notch. I have been coming here since he opened and he just gets better and better with his creativity. Yo Cuz 💯💯💯
Reservation was for 1015. Table wasn't ready till 11. Wound up eating at the Bar. Not what I really had planned. Don't plan on having a conversation with your party because the music is literally deafening. Put it this way I'm in a rock band and I couldn't take the music being so loud.Food is decent ,definitely not worth the money for eating at the bar. Would I go back? Probably not...but then again you know what they say about opinions...
Once again, Martorano's rules as we visit there almost weekly. Fresh Arugula next to Chef Steve. A kitchen and restaurant that's spotlessly clean. Service that's incredible. Best of all, the food. Martorano's is the absolute best Italian food on earth with [maybe] some competition in Rome. Starts with hot bread and olive oil with a table option to add spicy oil (try both as they make the bread taste like you're sitting in Italy but better). Specialities such as The Sicilian Slice melt in your mouth. The pepperoni on it is perfectly flavored. The cheese so fresh. The giant Meatball with salad is a classic and always tastes like the first time. It's that good. Philly Cheese steak. Special Macaroni. Fresh peppers. This is Italian food heaven and has to be tasted to be believed. AND the desserts, especially the Apple Crisp w/ ice cream, is the best I have ever had. Just when I think I can't eat another bite, the Apple Crisp makes me hungry because, yes, it's THAT great. Thank you , Steve, for bringing your magic to food lovers and everyone else!
