Cafe Martorano Ratings and Reviews
We have been going here for years. Every time we are in town we go. The last time we went two weeks ago and this time we felt really rushed. From the time we got there until the time we left it was like they were hurrying us up so we would leave and they could seat someone else. Then we had a vegitarian with us that asked for a simple change to something and they wouldn't do it.
It put a damper on the whole evening.
We visited the Ft Lauderdale location for the first time, after dining at the Vegas restaurant many times. Food was good. We were horribly rushed through dinner . They are unapologetic to your needs if you are looking for the full dining experience. Fun spot to drink and listen to music if you can chow down the food fast . Definitely not as memorable as the Vegas location.
The food was delicious & the service was very good in the beginning but as the nite progressed, it seemed the waiter cared more about people he knew that dragged in. Add in we waited 45 minutes for the check with no explanation from our waiter WHY it was taking so long (the busser told us their system went down) & we were charged for bread & olive oil for dipping (what Italian place does THAT??!!), it took another 30 minutes to get the check recalculated. My husband walked out but I had to wait it out since they still had my credit card. We went next door for our Italian dessert because we didn't want to wait another minute.
As always the food was outstanding
I've really never had anything that wasn't at least very good
With most dishes being excellent
It s exactly what it's supposed to be great Italian American cuisine
It's exactly what my grandmother made
Made almost the exact same way
Classical Italian it's not
Classic Italian American it is
And it's done as well as can possibly be done
With the best ingredients
Go for the food
Service this time around was good
Usually great but my regular waiter Ted wasn't available
Omar did a good job but missed a few beats
It is always nice to come in to the restaurant and seeing the owner behind the counter in his traditional cornet position. What is even better is when he tells you from your previous visit, if I have them, I will make it for you. He did!! Thank you Steve, the Chicken wings Martorano, were unreal!!!!
Cafe Martarano's is one of the best restaurants in South Florida!! Growing up as first generation Italian , you would think someone's grandmother was in the back cooking. It is authentic Italian food that never disappoints!
Steve Martarano takes a pride in everything he cooks and everything in the restaurant is pure perfection. The service is unbelievable and welcoming and caters to every need. We visit the restaurant every time we are in South Florida and recommend it to everyone we meet. So happy to have found this amazing restaurant years ago!!!
service started out great at 7pm but as restaurant filled became so so. Mozzarella fried and also a fresh ball of it that we got to share were each delicious. I then ordered the veal special and it was totally bland without flavor and I can only assume they missed putting in salt or spices. My husbands chicken parm he said was good with a great marinara sauce on it . As we are from Phila we were very aware of the chef and wanted to go to his restaurant. It is basically a place to be scene at and very noisy so don't go with friends if you wish to hear them. Prices were what we expected , high and if food was good we would not have baulked at the prices. At the end we had trouble getting the dessert menu and when the waiter finally came he was excited to tell us that the chef was in house and we could take a pic with him if wanted. As we are not tourists and I thought the suggestion was strange we declined and asked for check. When I go out nice dining I would never ask for that unless he was a well know food chef and I do not consider him that. Typical heavy sauces and italian food as taught by is mom or grandma and evident no formal training with a note on bottom of menu to -Not break his balls and make substitutions or changes to his food which I thought was pompous and crude to tell me how I should take my food when I am paying. As we dine all over the world in all types of place I have a good handle on average food to incredible at all price ranges and this is just a dressed up pig in a pokey.
I have been to Cafe Martorano several times for business dinners and was extremely impressed with every aspect of those dinners. Being so pleased with the restaraunt I wanted to share it with my wife who enjoys really excellent food as much as I do. We just had dinner here and I don't hear her say "that was the best (whatever food item) I have ever had" very often and she made that comment about all three courses of the meal. Every item we ordered was perfectly prepared, extremely delicious, and expertly served. I recommend this restaraunt wholeheartedly for anyone who appreciates truly excellent food, service and a fun atmosphere.
We were prompt, they were waiting............seated us next to one of the most boisterous groups we've EVER been near. Restaurant was VERY busy, I saw that there was no place to move us, so we suffered.
They are pricey.........one GREAT meatball with less than a handful of salad...oh boy.
Small portions of very tasty pasta.
When I bit down on a (prox) 1/2" bone in the meatball sauce, it was glossed over with a "That's one of the pig foot bones in the sauce". Really? Not in any of the Italian restaurants that I called on in 55 years in the wine trade. The sauce is VERY good, but with small bones??????????????
So, we'd say very tasty/small portion pricey food with a noisy atmosphere, and never again
Late to open doors. Had not set up our table for 7. Went to bar as asked then came to get us couldn't finish our drinks. Barely enough time for husband to pay bill or get card very rushed. Besides the good food they seem to be on a time schedule so you feel rushed. We spent $1200 and were basically asked to leave our table before the very expensive Wine was finished. Our last time there to many other places to go where you can relax and enjoy your expensive meal. Not the first time we were rushed but will be the last.
