Fantastic atmosphere to pair with the delicious food. The decor is spot on as well.
It was very good, nice place to eat. I would go back again any time.
Service was very good. Tried a variety of tapas and all were delicious. The sangria was too. It was quiet when we arrived at 6:45 on a Friday but was busier when we left.
Café Madrid is over the top! The food and wine were truly authentic and absolutely delicious. The menu selections and wine list left nothing to be desired. The lighting and decor contributed to a warm and cozy ambiance where we immediately felt relaxed. Our anticipation grew every step of the Café Madrid experience from the friendly greetings, the lovely tables, the fresh bread and the beautifully appointed dining rooms. Aside from all of this, the service of our waiters was truly outstanding. Andrei was knowledgeable of all aspects of the menus, attentive, and fun to talk with. His colleagues were "right there" to anticipate our every need. Of my several decades of dining around the world, this restaurant rates in my personal Top 10. Thank you for a lovely wedding anniversary dinner.
WE WAITED 40 MINUTES BEFORE OUR APPETIZER ARRIVED. WE WAITED ANOTHER 30-35 MINUTES BEFORE OUR ENTREES ARRIVED. I ORDERED THE LAMB SHANK AND IT CAME LUKE WARM AND THE EAT WAS TERRIBLE, I LEFT MOST OF IT. HOWEVER, MY HUSBAND'S ENTREE WAS EXCELLENT SO MAYBE MINE WAS A BAD ORDER. IRREGARDLESS, THE WAIT TIME WAS NOT ACCEPTABLE.
This is my favorite place to go for any occasion! The staff are always welcoming and very knowledgeable. I have tried almost everything on their menu and it is all delicious! It can get a little pricey if you drink wine 😁 but you won’t be disappointed!!
Honestly, the whole experience was sort of "meh". I was hoping for something a bit more exciting. Also, the whole tapas situation isn't like how it is in Spain. They should come free with your drink (or at the most a few dollars).
amazing food and great staff, i will be going back soon.
The tapas will make you swoon. Who would think a meatball could taste so exquisite? :)
We split 3 tapas, a caprese salad, the lobster bisque, and creme brulee cake.
All were exceptional.
The wait team was wonderful except for the lead... He was offish and preoccupied.
Go! On a weeknight. Tuesday or Thursday for 7 dollar tapas or 5 dollar sangria, respectively
Food and service are really good. However, considering portions, prices are fairly steep.
We decided just to have tapas and soup. Everything tasted wonderful, and the service was excellent. Always an outstanding meal.
This is one of my favorite restaurants of all times, great service, nice environment, and the food is delicious!
Great food! Nice place. Highly recommend! Brussels sprouts and bread are delicious! Chicken Marsala!
It reminds me of my trips to Spain and a restaurant in Seville. The decor and ambiance is better than most Spanish restaurants in the US. The food was slightly above average for a Spanish restaurant but I felt they could have done better. The Pulpo con Patas had way too many potatoes in it. Skip the Spanish tortillas unless they give you them for free. The steak was fantastic, juicy and considerable with alot of flavor. We had amazing bread rolls however they never came around and asked if we wanted more. When I asked for a glass of Tempranillo, they gave me an outstanding wine but it was under-poured (small) and $16, which was over priced for one glass. When I filled the Open Table review out, I was too quick on the keyboard as I would have given them a below average rating on value.
Awesome spot and food!
Was a bit disappointed with all the unavailabilities: no capuccino because the espresso machine isn't working, no beef for the Southwest Platter, no creme brulee cake for dessert. It was a bad day to go to Cafe Madrid.
Service was slow, but was not in a hurry. Diaapointed at end of dinner because wanted a nice cup of coffee. Was told machine was broken, no coffee. What? No drip either. It was rude and odd for the style of restaurant, the cost of the dishes, the extensive dessert and coffee menu offered and it was on a Saturday night. There are too many other great places that you can get similar food choices and after dinner coffee! I wouldn't go back to Cafe Madrid.
Food, service excellent! Most dishes authentic Spanish cuisine.
Nice place, good service, food...I've had better. Lobster tail was cold and dry.
Reservation was at 7pm. Service here is worst than poor. Our topas took over an hour to arrive. Our main course took over two hours, after I finally said something to our server. It was cold when it arrived too. We didn’t get to eat our food because we had other reservations for 9:30pm, so the restaurant wrapped up our food to go. If I was not pressed for time then I would have argued for free food, but instead settled for 50% off. It was still over $80. The manager admitted that our table was forgotten about and still made us pay. His only consolation was for free desert. This is the worst service I’ve EVER had at a high end restaurant. I have to also comment about the atmosphere. We sat under a vent blowing cold air on us. Plus, someone messed with the radio volume and changed the station too. So, blaring loud music was playing that was not enjoyable on any level. I’ll have to really think about going again.
This is one of my favorite places in Salt Lake County. Of the 6 times we've eaten there, we've come away 5 times saying "That was great." Service on one occasion was less than stellar. It's a tad bit overpriced for the portion size but still worth paying the little extra for.
Such an amazing experience, the pulpo,(octopus) aone is worth it all!! Thank you for a beautiful Valentines dinner!!
Delicious food! I’ve been to Spain 🇪🇸 many times in last 30 years and this food was totally on par with the upper restaurants in Madrid. Deliciosa!
The service was attentive, but very slow. The tapas were good quality and good flavor. The entrees were average, but were not up to the quality of the tapas.
Loved everything about this establishment! Such a great atmosphere and the quality of food was amazing. The rolls are to die for! Already planning to go again on our anniversary instead of Ruth’s Chris.
I would highy recommand this place for for romantic dinner. I love the food and the place
Very tasty dishes, excellent waiter, caring and professional, receptionist? just average. One of our favorite restaurants in our neighborhood.
Great service, great food. Had the lamb shank, with side of roasted veggies
Excellent and imaginative cuisine. Attentive and friendly staff. An excellent place.
We were so pleasantly surprised by our experience at Cafe Madrid. We ate early on a snowy weeknight and had one dining room to ourselves for most of the evening. Our server was lovely and helpful. We ordered 3 tapas to start...LOVED the brussel sprouts. Then we split the salmon entree. More than enough food, couldn't consider dessert. Ambiance was excellent, great Spanish music. We are planning a trip to Spain soon. This just added to our excitement.
This place is great! Recommend it to anyone for a tapas night or just a formal dinner
Best food in Utah!
Just that we had to wait for almost half an hour to be seated even though we had reservations
My only issue was the service. It was great at the beginning but towards the end the server was hostile. The food was amazing (like always), the duck dish had a very small portion for its price. The lamb and steak were on point. Great desserts.
This experience was grand. My wife and I were celebrating our anniversary. We were looking for somewhere nice. She likes the dress-up-and-go-out experience. Cafe Madrid was so close to being exactly what we were looking for through no fault of their own. Here is our experience:
We made a reservation the day before, a little late, but before they closed. We decided to go out on a limb and try the seafood paella. Being in Utah and far away from coasts it was a bit risky. We walked in and were seated within 3 minutes. Not everyone was dressed up there. It was about half casual, half semi-formal. We did research and had expected this.
We didn't feel over-dressed, but it felt more like others there seemed under dressed. That was the ambiance of the building. It was nice. The waiter gave us menus, which we took and looked over, but we already knew we had the paella coming. Soon after they brought us the most amazing rolls I have ever eaten along with oil and vinegar. I didn't think the meal could beat that part. I love good bread, and it qualified. I would have come back for the rolls alone.
I didn't think the meal could get better. I expected slight disappointment. The paella came. It was a moment of truth. It was a bit of a risk, but let me say it paid off. The food was divine. Everything was cooked well, perfectly spiced, plenty of seafood taste, but without the overbearing "fishiness" that ruins other fish dishes. The plate was plenty for two with enough to take home an extra meal. I don't know if I can go back without getting the same thing.
As for price, it was on the high end for us, but it was a splurge. That being said, the paella was $40, we got dessert, left full, tipped generously, and it was still less than $30 per person. It was well worth the trip.
In short: amazing food, great price for quality, service was polite though we had some mix-ups at the end. We will return and I highly recommend that you eat here.
This is my 10th time here at least, love the atmosphere. For the first time our food was lacking in greatness, it was tapas night, our asparagus and dates were very good, however our entree, was cooked with NO love...at all. I thought I was eating a chef-boy-R-dee noodle dish...just awful....then our dessert was a tiramisu type dish with one coffee soaked cookie and 1 1/2 cups of squirt on whipped cream. Our water was great, the hostess very kind...I will come back, but I’ll wait until I’m sure corrections are made.
I did like the ambience of the restaurant, the server treated us like royalty. It was nice to get away from food chain restaurants, and I have always liked authentic food.
Cafe Madrid was a real treat. The service was great and I loved the ambiance, particularly the art work. It's a place I would go to again for a special evening out. The food was outstanding and the wait staff patiently helped us select the right items for dinner and also for wine. (I was unfamiliar with Spanish wine but I loved what I chose). It's very special and I would highly recommend it to others.
Great service great food, paella was amazing and tapas also
