Delicious food with Tapas being offered in the evening, crafted sandwiches for lunch. Each dish is a wonderful blend of unique flavors. Their Beef sandwich is amazing as is the chicken soup and for desert the flan is my favorite. The interior of the restaurant is beautifully decorated with art, antiques and unique collection of eclectic Spanish items. Very comfortable and cozy. Reservations are recommended. Not for very small children because of the quiet ambiance and all the decorations. One of my favorite places in Salt Lake.
The food was acceptable. The services was abysmal. See below.
For appetizers we had the Albondigas (meatballs) and the Setas (mushrooms in cream and bacon) The meatballs were a little dense, and the sauce a tad too sweet. The Oyster mushrooms were a bit woody and chewy. Could have been trimmed better. The cheese sauce was tasty but the bacon overpowered both the mushrooms and the sauce.
My wife had the duck breast which was ok. The duck meat was properly cooked (medium rare) but they did not cook the skin side sufficiently so the skin was rubbery rather than crispy and to make matters worse the poured the orange sauce over the duck eliminating any crispness the skin might have had. It was, however, very tasty. If you order this I would recommend sauce on the side to keep the duck skin as crispy as possible.
I had the beef tenderloin with the Roquefort cream sauce. This was excellent. My only complaint with this dish was that the vegetables were over cooked. And on a point of curiosity...why would this Spanish restaurant do a dish using a French cheese (Roquefort) when they could have done the same with one of the many terrific Spanish blue cheeses (Cabrales comes to mind)
The Service. In a word it was terrible. We arrived about 20 minutes before our reservation time. There was no one at the front of house to greet arriving guests. Despite arriving 20 minutes early were were seated about 10 minutes later.
It took our server 15 minutes to bring a bottle of water and despite us telling her we were ready to order she disappeared for another 10. After we finished our appetizers she comes to the table and asks "is that it?" We told her, "No, we would like to order dinner." She then proceeded to ignore us completely until our food arrived after which she spent all of her time with her larger tables leaving us to ask for our check from the other server. It takes a lot for me to leave a bad tip. I did so last night.
The food was great wine was better. The service seemed a little slow although it is a popular spot. The host was nice and the place was really trying to be up scale.
We always love to go to Café Madrid and this time was no exception. Never disappoints!!
Absolutely delicious food. The staff was attentive and very knowledgeable about the food and how it is prepared. Can’t wait to go back.
Horrible food. Paella had no bottom crust and flavor wasn’t good
The food was fantastic. I got the bacon wrapped shrimp in cream sauce, sausage in fig sauce, ham and chicken croquettes, gazpacho, and lamb in port sauce and everything was amazing.
I was looking forward to their chicken soup, only to find out it won’t be ready for another 2 hours. I went in for lunch on Monday. I feel that they shouldn’ve prepared what they consider to be one of their signature dishes ahead of time.
The food and restaurant were great. The staff though really pushed this experience to the next level. Awesome service!
We've dined here for many special occasions, and I must say this evening was the finest yet. The
special Flamenco performances, the exquisite food (mouthwatering honey spiced salmon), the inviting ambiance, the attentive service - made for a birthday evening my husband and I will always remember.
Honestly, the food was mediocre. The appetizer was sausage in a fig sauce, but the sausage had simply been cut and the sauce poured on top. The sauce was thin and unremarkable. The shrimp and bacon were small, although the sauce served with them was good. The salad was completely inedible, because it was doused in what tasted like straight vinegar. Really awful. The entrée was a welcome surprised, with the beef and salmon cooked perfectly and both very flavorful. The portion was very generous. The vegetables were the only sad part of the dish, being very overcooked. The dessert was a simple mousse, nothing very creative. The experience was fun, and the ambiance was great. One thing that was distracting was the very, very dirty carpet, which you never like to see in a restaurant. Overall, it was a fun and tasty evening.
Delicious food as always but the service was poor. With only 1 large table of 8 on a weeknight, our party of 2 was ignored. We didn’t get bread. Had to ask for our drinks twice. The music was intermittently disturbingly loud. Disappointing experience. Please don’t allow reservations if you don’t have the staff to provide adequate service.
Great, authentic Spanish food. The gazpacho was the best I have ever had. Nice selection.
Our waiter was uninterested in really serving us. He had such a casual response to us. The server next to us was helping him and she was by far more helpful and courteous.
He forgot the bread we asked for 3 times, thankfully she had an open ear and brought some to us.
Good food, great service, quiet and relaxed outdoor patio seeting.
We were here for lunch with friends so I can't speak to the dinner menu. 'Our' menu was appealing and varied; portions were generous and everything was served hot. Great service. We'll be back!
Cafe Madrid has quickly become a favorite. All of our dishes were excellently prepared. The service was attentive and friendly. Cafe Madrid has a unique menu with authentic Spanish flavors
Excellent food and service. Will definitely come back and also recommend to my family and friends.
Our go to spot was a bit disappointing this time.
Filet was served a bit cold, lobster was not real fresh.
Service was great except for timing.
Brussels came early, and wine service was real slow getting glasses and opening first chilled bottle.
Ebony, our server, is wonderful.
Amazing anniversary experience. Great food and extremely inexpensive considering the quality of food and atmosphere.
Cafe Madrid is always a wonderful experience. I love this place. I always feel welcome there, like family. We just had a birthday party dinner there in the Veranda Room. Aldren was fantastic. The food was amazing of course. It always is. Don't forget to pre-order your Paella.
I can’t think of enough things to describe my experience at Cafe Madrid. I will leave you with this:
If you want to be transported into the Spanish countryside and encounter a unique cultural experience, then head to Cafe Madrid. The cuisine, sangria, service, and atmosphere will leave you breathless.
Food is good just a bit disappointed with the desserts worst I ever had vanilla ice cream with nasty strawberries taste like white vinegar and had this Little black things that it tastes like black pepper
Outstanding food and service. We focused on tapas and were not disappointed.
This place is perfect for a special occasion. It has an amazing ambiance, delicious food, and good portion sizes. We came for our anniversary and they placed rose petals on our table and even gave us complementary dessert.
Went there for my birthday dinner and it was wonderful. The food was great, the portions were more than adequate and the service very nice. I would recommend in a heart beat. We shared dessert and main courses so that we could try some extra things on the menu.
This is one of our favorite places to dine. The atmosphere is wonderful and the menu has a diverse and creative selection. The dishes are excellently prepared. The service could have been much better as our server was not as attentive nor enthusiastic as the past.
We had a great time here for our anniversary! Absolutely loved the food and staff.
Andrea and her team are fantastic!
The food is great! Amazing!
The food was awesome and the service was also awesome, atmosphere was exactly the way a restaurant should be.
Our conversations were clear and easy to hear no having to ask to repeat your partner.
We have been to cafe Madrid many times and it’s always a pleasure to dine here.
Thanks for such a great dining experience

This restaurant has so much potential but falls short on service and food. It seems to be poorly run and disorganized.
We’ve been there several times and love it each time! Outstanding food and service. We’ll be back again and again.
Enjoyed a wonderful birthday dinner hete tonight. The tapas (calamari, bacon wrapped chicken, and the brochettes of pollo) were delicious. I had the beef tenderloin and my wife had salmon. Excellent dinner and a charming intimate atmosphere. Very attentive service. Thanks for a wonderful evening!
A lovely evening. Glad we pre-ordered the Paella. It was fantastic.
the hostess was prompt and very professional and our waitress was amazingly friendly and well informed about the menu items, and the food was great.
It was wonderful! Went for my birthday, and during the traditional celebration they squirt "wine" in your mouth for 12 seconds, but it went everywhere! Good thing I was wearing a black shirt. I'm assuming it was an accident, but it could have really sucked had I been wearing a white shirt. Food was delicious as always.
We were there celebrating a birthday and they made it so special! Their Sangria is the best we've ever had. The art on the walls is so unique and beautiful! The staff is very friendly and welcoming. We will be back to dine there again soon!
Always a hit with the food. Was my wife’s birthday and they celebrated it with the custom Spain celebration. Thanks!
The staff was very helpful with giving recommendations about their food and specials.
