Everything about this place was exceptional. The food was incredible, the music was awesome and I can’t say enough about our waiter Edward. Definitely will be coming back.
As always service was outstanding, the food was impeccable and the ambiance is spectacular. That is why we are regulars and always treat our out of town guests to enjoy and appreciate. Could not recommend it any higher than always excellent.
We enjoyed a fantastic meal and celebration with our family for Easter dinner. Always has been consistent with great service. Our server Julie was excellent and professional . Very nice place. Our favorite spot.
Café Madison was the perfect place to celebrate our Easter dinner. The pre fixe menu offered a great variety of delicious choices, the piano music created a pleasant, relaxing atmosphere (even though the restaurant was totally booked) and Kimberly, our server, was the best. She was cheerful and so welcoming she made us feel pampered and very comfortable. We couldn't have enjoyed our holiday dinner more! Because of such a great experience, we expect to return to Café Madison again soon.
As always, the food and service were excellent. Classiest place in the area.
Our most recent visit to Café Madison was lovely as always.
Unfortunately chef Jack Connor and his wife aren't there anymore. I've been there many times and it was my favorite restaurant but I can really tell the difference in the service and the food.
I went in on a Tuesday because of the many specials advertised online. Server never mentioned the specials, did not offer wine or any other drink. She seemed to the in such a rush even tho it was a slow Tuesday night. My husband's prime rib came in cold and the salad that comes with it never came... we were never given options for the 2 sides that comes with the dishes. Server just added whatever she felt like.
Really poor service.
Had higher expectations having been here before. Our granddaughter wanted steak. We thought the Madison could do that. The filet was cooked to medium rare perfectly but arrived barely warm. It didn’t have depth of flavor. The green beans were wrinkled and tasteless. The salmon was hot and tasty as well as the swordfish. Appetizer calamari good and the ahi tuna appetizer very good. The dessert offerings were what you get everywhere. We ordered - apple crisp - the waitress returned to say they were out. We decided the tiramisu and cheesecake did not seem enticing. The waitress said the kitchen could whip up brownies and ice cream. That we’d love it. Turned out to be room temp bland tasting brownies.
The waitress was very friendly and apologized for the wait. Very slow and we were one of two tables with customers! I doubt it was her fault. Something wasn’t right I suspect in the kitchen.
The bill was about 140. Plus tip. Very sorry but not likely to come again.
I love this restaurant. The food is awesome and the service was good. I had a problem with the leaf of the table falling into my lap continually and when I asked to be moved and was denied, I asked to speak with the manager who moved us immediately.
Took a half hour to finally get a drink at the bar. Tried ordering multiple bottles of wine and every time they came back and said they were out of the wine I had chosen. Food was average and service was just OK. Good ambience but they really need to work on a few things with the bar and wait staff.
The atmosphere and music are very nice here. The violinist at the bar was outstanding. Overall, food is good but pricey for the area so you expect an experience like a city restaurant but it falls short. We had trouble getting a cocktail in a timely fashion and the restaurant was nearly empty. Basic grilled fish and meat were done nicely . The cafe cannot prepare its duck properly so I suggest they take it off the menu. The first time out I requested crispy skin and meat as the chef would normally prepare it. It came out looking like burnt charcoal and the breast meat was well done(should have been rare). The second try was better- the confit was good and tender, crisp skin but the Muscovy breast was nuked and not edible. They took it off the bill but the experience was not good.
We split a T-bone steak between 2 of us; it was cooked perfectly, flavorfully spiced. Cheesecake dessert, however, was uninspiring.
The food and service were both excellent as usual. We have never been disappointed here. The classiest place in the area.
Once again, I have nothing but raves for the food, service, and convenience of this dining experience. Edward was an efficient, attentive server without "hovering".
Very impressive. Good food, excellent service and enjoyable atmosphere
GREAT AMBIANCE! WONDERFUL SERVICE, WONDERFUL FOOD EXCEPT FOR MY $39 T-BONE STEAK. THE FLAVOR WAS GREAT BUT THE MEAT WAS TOUGH.
Edward is always a great server
Diane is a great hostess... makes us always feel welcome
Chef always says hello
Food is always good....along with great service and very eclectic setting. They do a lot of events there also. We usually go for a special occasion; this time was Valentine's Day. They had a special 4 course menu or you could order ala carte.
Just moved to NJ and found this on Open Table. Was close to home and LOVED it would go back !!
We got the filet/ lobster special for Valentine’s Day. The filet was good but we were all(all 4 of us)) disappointed with the lobster. We were all picturing a small tail but instead hit a couple little pieces!!
Love this place. We had outback wedding reception here and that was amazing as well. Love the staff !
Cafe Madison and Chef Connor continues to provide a good product with changes that keep the experience fresh.
Was surprised with their limited "winter" menu. Felt somewhat rushed by our server who kept coming back asking for our orders. The restaurant was literally empty at the time. The food was very good except for the New England Clam Chowder which was more like broth rather than a creamy clam chowder.
The atmosphere is this restaurant's most redeeming quality.
The food is very good, but the menu is small and limited. The waitstaff is friendly, but we have had slow service mostly every time we dine here.
On this last visit, we sat at a high top to have a cocktail before being seated for dinner. However, after waiting 15 minutes without anyone taking our drink order, we decided to be seated in the dining room. It took an additional 20-25 minutes to get our cocktails.
Never go on a holiday! Thanksgiving was over booked and one person in our party never received his entree after everyone was finished their meal. The management was apologetic and did compensate for our meal, but it took quite some time before we wanted to dine there again, because it really did ruin our dining experience on that visit.
With all being said, we still do recommend this restaurant with the above reservations.
This was our first time dining at Cafe Madison. They had nice specials. Two in our party had the filet and shrimp combo and loved it. Another had the crab cakes that had lots of jumbo lump crab. I had the branzino with risotto and I ate it all. I didn’t care for the house salad. Others liked the butternut and seafood soups, and the seared tuna.
Good service, great atmosphere, excellent food, at the right price!
We enjoyed our dining experience much. Our server, Edward, did a great job of explaining the specials of the evening, and gave us an opportunity to enjoy our cocktails before placing our orders. We both ordered fish: I had the organic salmon which was prepared perfectly and my wife had the Swordfish special which was outstanding. I would be remiss if I failed to mention how enjoyable the music was. Great selection of songs and at the perfect volume.
We always enjoy our dinners there and highly recommend this restaurant.
ambiance and service was outstanding. food was actually disappointing... just OK. For the prices being charged I expected more flavor, and slightly bigger portions. I guess the ambiance offset the food.
Our second visit to Cafe Madison was great overall. Food was very good. Lobster and crab cakes were fantastic and the filet special was delicious although the steak was slightly over cooked (medium well rather than medium). Service is fabulous. This place is so inviting.
Nice place, never disappoints for ordinary dining or a special occasion. Expensive but worth it.
Food was excellent and service was great. Quiet place to talk and enjoy. Bang Bang Shrimp was outstanding and meals were cooked perfectly.
A great New Years. Very well organized.
Service great, DJ played all the right music and took requests, price was a fine value, all food courses very tasty and prepared as requested.
We had a reservation for two at 6PM on 12/31/17. Our waiter was Edward. He was very professional, friendly and efficient. Was also impressed how all of the wait staff assisted each other with serving each others clients. All tables were occupied. Chefs must have been going crazy. Our food came out in a timely manner, was hot and very good. A very well organized operation. We'd been here a few times in the past but it was the first time we ate in the large dining room. It was a very pleasant experience.
Great restaurant and the food is absolutely fabulous !!!
We loved cafe Madison. The food was excellent. Our waiter Connor was terrific.
Can’t wait to go back. We also enjoyed talking with the bar tender Christina.

My family and I visited for Christmas Day dinner. We made reservations before Thanksgiving and asked specifically for a quiet table. I explained our 93 year old hard of hearing father was accompanying us. I thought all was well until just before Christmas day I received a confirmatory call for our reservations. When I asked if our request for a quiet table would be honored the young lady proceeded to lecture me. She told me that the restaurant was loud and it was Christmas day and there were no guarantees. Even though I explained that the older gentleman would have a better experience if we were seated in a corner table, the five of us were still seated in an interior table. Even when asked if we would be permitted to sit in the vacant corner table we were told that all the tables were set as per reservations. The table in question remained vacant the entire time we were there. The service was friendly but not formal. The server wisked away plates as the diners finished making us feel rushed. There was no one waiting for our table. It was fast food style to say the least. We all enjoyed the food but it was not memorable. At one point my husband put a tip in the piano player's goblet and asked if he might play a certain song. The piano player replied that he did not know the song. My husband then asked if the piano player's accent was russian. The piano player then asked my husband, " why, are you FBI?" Needless to say, my husband returned to his seat. My impression, overall, is that the restaurant is very nicely appointed but the staff is inadequately supervised. Kind of a rough experience....
Never have we been more deceived by a façade and ruse of a fine restaurant as we have tonight at the Madison. The worst that we have dine in, seriously! The service was lackadaisical and careless, the food was of poor quality, expensive and served cold, the menu was extremely limited and it was actually raining inside of the building. The décor of the place is impressive which leads one to believe that there’s quality throughout however; don’t be fooled like we were. This place is a finely decorated farce. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone!
Hmm. The Madison wasrecommended by fraternity Brother Murray and Finneyfor an anniversary dinner . Bottom line is my char-broiled Fillet Mignon tasted like liver. My wife doesn’t like me to complain immediately so I ate slowly. While eating looked at me she said her sirloin steak tasted like liver too. Wow, we were on the same page after 32 years. We agreed the appetizers, salad, and soup tasted great but we should have had seafood. A few well wishers asked for feedback and I would never say don’t go, but will share my experience with the beef- perhaps it’s prepared with grace beyond my pay grade- I’m with bone in and fat😜
Great place with very nice atmosphere. Food was fantastic as was the service. Be careful to ask what sides accompany the entrees as you may end up buying alacarte side items that are not needed.
