The service was impeccable and intuitive to our needs. The food was delicious: a gazpacho appetizer, followed by fish and chips, and for dessert, doughnut balls. Seeing how Cafe Lux still enchants after 40 years of serving the NYC community is terrific.

We had a wonderful experience from start to finish. We were greeted warmly and asked if we were seeing a show and needed to keep an eye on the time, which we did. Our server was lovely and appropriately attentive. We had the nicoise and ceasar salads to start. Both were beautifully prepared and not overdressed. Entrees were also delicious - pan seared salmon and a wonderful pasta and shrimp special. We had coffee and tea, paid the bill and got to our show with time to spare. Highly recommend.

Our server was fantastic, the menu is broad - everyone shared everything so we could try it all! We walked there for dinner after a visit to the AMNH - which was about 15 min away - it was early so not busy yet - but the cocktails, appetizers, entrees and dessert were all very tasty!

Cafe Luxembourg is a great West Side institution. The food is unfailingly excellent, fresh and within the expanded bistro tradition. You can tell its quality by the fact that patrons keep returning, some several times a week. Great for before Lincoln Center performances, just reserve for peak hours with enough lead time.

Café Luxembourg is the crown jewel of the Upper West Side of Manhattan and possibly the entire five boroughs of New York City. Every aspect of dining here is outstanding: the hospitality, the environment, the food and drink--it is as close to a perfect restaurant experience as you will ever get. Yesterday and good friend and I went at the unusual time of 3:15 and got a corner table. It was so quiet we were able to have an in-depth conversation while enjoying our meal, and the server was typically A-plus. Rachel and her crew deserve our thanks for creating and maintaining the most satisfying dining experience in New York.

Enjoyed a very nice lunch with my daughter. We shared the watermelon/tomatoe gazpacho which was delicious. I had the sear tuna salad and my daughter had the pan seared salmon. both dishes were perfectly prepared and the accompanying side was spot on. The cost was a bit pricy but the service and food are worth it. it often busy so i would recommend a reservation.

I’ve been going to Cafe Luxembourg since the 1980s. Last night I went with a friend, another woman, and was treated very differently from the way I’m treated when I’m with my husband. My friend and I ordered the grilled Bronzino to share but discovered with the first bite that it was overcooked. We complained to the waiter, who told us that was the way the chef cooked it, and asked if we would like to order something else. We said, no, we would like the Bronzino, but it should be cooked properly. Then the maître d’ came over to our table and insisted that it was properly cooked, that it couldn’t be undercooked because it was a white fish. I explained to him that I have cooked Bronzino many times myself, and I’ve ordered it in other restaurants and know how it is to be cooked. I told him I was not asking for it to be undercooked, simply that it not be overcooked. The maître d’ argued with me, insisting that it was cooked properly, that that was the way the chef cooked it, that the chef knew what he was doing, implying that I did not. His attitude was condescending and patronizing. Not getting any comprehension from him or our waiter, we finally ordered something else but, no pun intended, the incident left a bad taste in my mouth. It will be a long time before I go back there.

Food ambiance and service were all excellent. We sat outside and enjoyed a cool night with drizzle but the covered seating was quite pleasant. The watermelon-gazpacho was very good and fish and chips also good. The salad was beautiful and the burger delish.

They have a ton of servers and bus boys, so they are on top of everything. The food was well executed and presented. Dessert was very dissapointing though. I ordered a "trifle" which is a layered Dessert, consisting of cake, pudding/pastry cream and usually fruit or compotes. This version had no layers, it was a huge amount of banana pudding with a few slices of caramelized bananas and whipped cream. The dessert needed layers of something (sponge cake, crumble, cookies, etc.) to balance the creamy pudding. It was a lot of the,same.

Please add your delicious zucchini sticks to your brunch menu. We were so disappointed that they we missing. Zucchini sticks and a Luxemburger is the best lunch in town. Would have loved this to be the best brunch in town. Thank you. PS. Your salmon burger has become disappointing. Please improve.

We sat outside for 6:30 dinner reservations. Excellent service and stellar food -- my husband had steak frites, I had the roasted chicken and our guest had fish and chips. Cafe Luxembourg is an iconic spot to entertain guests and/or just to enjoy a good meal. Highly recommend the brunch as well.
