This was our first post-pandemic visit and it was VERY disappointing. The service was both intrusive and not responsive. The food was fair at best -- not up to its old standards. The worst thing was we wanted to treat our friends to dinner and gave the maître d' our credit card and a $20 tip when we arrived to make sure that our companions did not see the bill. While my husband and I were in the rest room at the end of the meal, the bill was presented to our friends who then paid it. We were very annoyed that this snafu (to put it kindly) occurred (particularly in light of a $20 tip to ensure it did not).
We have been going to Café Luxembourg since it opened in the '80s. We were very disappointed.
The staff is wonderful and the waiter was fantastic.
One of the top restaurant UWS. Professional team. Quiet street for outdoor dining. And great food..
Great service , great burgers and fries. The ambiance is peaceful and friendly and comfortable.
Beautifully done outdoor dining. We enjoyed the service with our toddler and the meal.
Mediocre service. Dinner okay, brunch is better
Disappointed that my entree wasn’t served as described in the menu. NO seasonal vegetables with the branzino, just frisée salad. Mention to our waiter didn’t do any good either. It’s SUMMER. If you can’t produce seasonal veg now, when???
Cafe Luxembourg has a wonderful sidewalk seating set up that is very attractive. It didn't hurt that it happened to be a beautiful summer day, not humid, with a gentle breeze. The service was terrific and the food was tasty.
Unusually my Bronzino was way over cooked to the point of being dry.
This is the first not good meal I have had here in 35 years.
My guess is the same small kitchen can’t keep up with the very expanded number of tables.
We have always found this place good for lunch and brunch. Today it was true also. We had a very ice lunch. They do an outstanding omelet. About as opposite as you can get from the typical diner version. To me they are as good as it gets.
They now have a ramp at the entrance. I hope it is permanent as I’m in a wheelchair and getting i
As usual, my favorite neighborhood go-to place. The fish was fresh and delicious and the wait staff, perfect.
service is nice, food not so much. the nicoise salad had little to do with a nicoise salad, and the croque monsieur had nothing to do with a real croque monsieur.
Always great! Service terrific, attentive and thoughtful.
The ambiance at Cafe Luxembourg is exactly what you’d expect from an elegant neighborhood eatery. It’s a short trip to Luxembourg with it’s German, French and Belgian influences. The wait staff truly wants to serve you and they deliver everything from coffee and tea to delectable lunches, brunches, and dinners with pride in presentation. Love the food, the Frisée salad, eggs Benedict or mussels and frites are all delightful reminders of what it means to dine.
Always wonderful. A pleasure and very vegetarian friendly.
Courteous service. Great food. What’s not to like! Will be back again.
Had a very nice brunch at one of the outside tables. We were not rushed, the service was excellent, and the food was very good. Great place for a brunch on Sunday morning, although it is a bit pricier than other options in the neighborhood. But worth it.
Large outdoor dining area; tables inside less close together than in the past. Excellent food and service.
It was nice enough - thought the menu and food was very good, but not extraordinary, especially given the price. We had the French toast (excellent), burger (meat was great quality), and eggs Florentine (had better). Fries were quite tasty. Outside seating was nicely separated. Service (our server) was great.
Everyone at our table at Café Luxembourg last night thought dinner was exceptional made even more so by our delightful server Keeley M.
Great food, decor, but way too noisy. Wonderful service.
Love Cafe Luxembourg, always good. It's a classic!
Card got blocked
Always good. Gem in the neighborhood
Had my 60th birthday dinner last night. I’ve been going to Cafe Luxembourg for years and it’s always been great. Food, service and now outdoor seating made the night particularly memorable.
Moules were fabulous and, oh, those frites!
Food was delicious. The bronzino was delicious but the portion was only 1/2 of the fish and was only served with a side salad. Overpriced for what you got. Chicken was excellent.
OM it was just soooo freaking gooooood!
My salad was teeny weeny and the bay kale was mostly stems, not much greenery. The "croutons" looked like 2 round potato chips which became crumbs when you tried to get them on your fork. My friends meal was so much better. I have ALWAYS had a good experience except this once. Would recommend and return to this restaurant.
My dessert: ice-cream sandwich was outstanding.
Fantastic service, great food, always consistent!!! A real fav!
my favorite restaurant in NYC, hands down. Never disappoints.
Our first time for brunch and we loved everything about it.
A splendid place. A long-time fixture of the UWS, and deservedly so.
Outdoor brunch with 'the passing parade' is v entertaining.
Costly and worth it.
Bert Goodyear staff. The onion soup was the best! Aperol spritz very good and The steak frites we're good as well
Great place, great service. We love it.
I hadn't been here in 20+ years yet I had very fond memories of CL as it was the site of my first cream brulee. I was very disappointed with my recent experience--my entire meal tasted like it had been sitting around in the kitchen for hours before being served. I won't be back will be nostalgic to my early visits to CL. Too bad.
A great meal. Pleasant atmosphere and able to easily hear my business associate. Highly recommend.
Despite NYC's oppressive heat, outdoor eating at Cafe Luxembourg was very enjoyable. The food was as good as the last time I visited, and the noise level was vastly better. Staff gave a warm welcome, ushered me to a comfortable outdoor waiting space with the option to order a drink while waiting, and our waiter was atttentive throughout the meal. The watermelon/tomato gazpacho was just right for the hot evening and the salmon was tasty. We had a good range of choice for wine by the glass. All in all, many reasons to go back again.
