Located on 70th Street just west of Broadway, Café Luxembourg entertains New Yorkers and celebrities alike. The full service bar is home to many regulars. The lively buzz of the dining room is inviting and intimate. The frequency of dining customers is testament to the sincere efforts by the entire Café Luxembourg staff.
The menu changes seasonally as well as offering daily specials. The classic menu dishes maintain a level of cooking on par with the city’s best restaurants. Café Luxembourg offers beautifully prepared food with professional, yet unpretentious service at reasonable prices.
If you can't be in Europe when you want, a quick visit to Café Luxembourg is the next best thing. Wonderful true French omelets that are light and fluffy with a bright crisp salad and a glass of Sancere and you'll feel like you are on the boulevards of Paris.
We booked after theater and stated that when we booked. We were warmly greeted and acknowledged that we had come post theater. Our waitress gave us the “bums” rush almost as soon as we sat down. There was barely time to sip a glass of wine before we were commanded to order as the kitchen was closing. And dessert was out of the question as the kitchen had closed.
Possibly fairer warning at booking would have been appreciated.
Always excellent service, food, and atmosphere
Rack of lamb tasted more. Like mutton/octopus was chewy and tasteless /fish and chips were bland and dry/only tuna tartar was good/portions small and expensive given quality,we will never go back.made me realize you cant trust any of the review sites
Our first visit, though the Cafe has been around for decades. Too bad we did not go earlier! A great choice before Lincoln Center (with Leonti closing, not so many options left, though Boulud Sud is also a great choice). Loved the tuna and the rack of lamb--one of the top lamb chops I've ever had. Cassoulet was perfectly respectable if not astonishing. Octopus was ok. Very nice bottle of wine (a Gigondas). Now that "we" have discovered it, we will go back!
Great food and atmosphere- still a classic and reliable spot on the UWS.
The service was excellent as always. I often have lunch at Cafe Luxembourg and the service has always been first class!!!
This is a gem. walking in is like stepping into another time, romantic with soft lighting and deco accents. Everything on the menu is excellent!!!
The greeting by the hostesses made us feel very welcome and our request for a quieter table was honored since we were seated in a corner at the window. My omelet was delicious and the attentive waiter was at the ready with a hot refill for my coffee. We enjoyed the flavorful onion soup and the berries which were very fresh. The noise level was manageable even though the tables are very close together but the restaurant was not completely filled. The decor has a traditional neighborhood bistro feel to it - very pleasant and comfortable. Easily accessible by the subway stop on 72nd Street.
Whenever we visit NY we make a reservation here! Love the the food, ambience, service and neighborhood feel! Great place we love!
Simply SPECTACULAR...as always! Thank you, Team Cafe Luxembourg, for MAKING our evening!
Food was great. Staff very attentive. Cheese plate was very small
My husband & I enjoyed dinner before a 9:00pm call-time at The Beacon Theatre. Our 6:30 reservation gave us plenty of time to enjoy cocktails, appetizers, dinner & dessert. We were pleased with everything we ordered. Cocktails were very well made. French onion soup and caramel mille-feuille were outstanding. Portions were perfect so we weren’t feeling stuffed before seeing the show. Hostesses and waitstaff were lovely. My only complaint is the tables for two are really tight and proximity to others is borderline uncomfortable. Aside from that, it was an excellent choice.
As usual, a wonderful & fun place to be!
Welcome, service, food al superb!
Had a wonderful dinner in record time in order to get to the opera at Lincoln Center. They even provided a sweet birthday dessert for us. Highly recommend it!
Cafe Lux has been around forever, and there’s a good reason for that- it never lets you down. It offers a consistently good experience — food, service and ambience. There’s a reason it is still crowded every night after all these years.
So nice to be able to hear what my dinner companions were saying. Really appreciated the civil noise level. Food was great as was the service.
they didn't have the fish and chips which my companion was planning on ordering
Food always is first rate as is the service. Great location close to Lincoln Center.
Post-theatre lunch. Nice food and great service. Great spot by Lincoln Center!
Unpretentious comfortable environment with good food and friendly service,
Our favorite stop after the movies. The staff is always welcoming, responsive and professional. The burgers and fries are the best. If only they would bring back the onion rings.....
I was a celebration of my daughter's recent engagement and birthday-and without us requesting, they served us sparkling rose at the onset of the evening! It was a superb dining experience for all and my Mom continued to mention it all weekend-- thank you!
We have been going to Cafe Luxembourg for years. It has always been and is a great place to feel at home and taken care of by an incredible staff. Evenings spent here are perfect, with wonderfully prepared dishes.
I love the vibe. The hostess graciously acknowledged my request for a “quiet” table as soon as I entered. Good service, and the minuscule amount of lobster in the rolls we ordered was tasty but, really, $35 for two small but thick brioche rolls with little filling ??? Hardly any lobster at all. Not nice. Been there other times and liked the food but this time was an expensive disappointment.
Table ready. Great staff. Definitely go back.
Cafe Luxembourg is quickly becoming one of my favorite restaurants. The food is phenomenal and the cozy yet elegant vibe is always enjoyable. The service is always top notch and always willing to offer suggestions when asked. I highly recommend Cafe Luxembourg.
A favorite place. Has the feel of a real French bistro! Warm service, great bartender. Excellent food and warm ambiance!
Never disappoints. Neighborhood atmosphere with a big dose of class and great cuisine perfectly executed.
Always love coming back. Wonderful ambiance, consummate service and great food. Being back is like visiting an old dear friend who you always enjoy seeing.
Expensive, menu with few options and the food quantities are limited.
Cafe Luxembourg never disappoints. Whenever we bring friends to dine there they become fans as well. From the minute you walk in the door you are made to feel welcome. No matter how busy everyone is the staff is always gracious. The food is consistently good and the menu has something for everyone. The interesting mix of diners and the cozy atmosphere always feels festive.
A real French bistro on the UWS. Great service. Good food.
Always great service and delicious food.
Great food, great service, great ambience. Can’t wait to go back.
Excellent quality food in a relaxed setting.
Café Luxemburg is always reliable for delicious and accessible French brasserie cuisine
Pre theater dinner was great
I have been going to Cafe Luxembourg since it started. A very VERY dependable bistro- fun at the bar and at eating- intimate and noisy but lively The service is constant and UBER professional. My dirty martini is just right and a nice size. My yellowfin tuna burger is great and great amount of fries to share. The egg white omelette is like a French omelette- not over done- simply made- but perfect.
Whenever here- it’s my neighborhood to go place- come casual or dressed up after the opera.
